Magus Supremacy-Chapter 868: Things Ended?
Chapter 868
"Ack... ugh...."
Every soul within the coliseum groaned in a painful unison, as the blast had been potent enough to reach the entire perimeter, even throwing the brooding Finral off his feet and onto the hard ground.
A thick blanket of dust immediately descended over the ruins, as the massive structure was effectively leveled to the soil.
Not a single wall or spectator stand remained rooted; everything crumbled to the floor like a fragile stack of cards.
Everyone was utterly disoriented.
Heads ached in a synchronized throb as they desperately struggled to avoid being flung further away by the residual tremors.
.....
Seconds stretched into several minutes before the choking dust finally cleared and the survivors managed to regain their composure.
Coughs tore through the stagnant air as they tried to shake off the persistent dizziness clouding their vision and minds.
Soon enough, they could perceive the devastating new state of the coliseum.
Abyss-level chasms had appeared all around them, the shattered ground dropping into dark, silent voids.
Grey was now on his knees, coughing violently.
His glow had vanished entirely.
His elemental gauntlets, boots, and armor had dissipated without a trace.
But one thing remained in their wake... he was trapped in tremendous amounts of agony.
He continued hacking, blood pouring from his eyes, nose, and mouth as he began smashing his trembling hand into the ground repeatedly in a fit of pained frustration.
Turning to observe the others, Kira could be seen hovering precariously in the air, her wings barely flapping as she stared downward.
Thalos could no longer stand; he lay there motionlessly, bleeding profusely from his abdomen.
Rivock shared the same grim fate.
With a cold dread filling their hearts, they all turned to gaze in the direction where Orion had been blasted.
What they witnessed shocked them to their very cores.
His entire torso from the waist downward was simply gone—obliterated by that single, singular strike.
Even his remaining arm had vanished, blasted roughly from his shoulder.
His once-impenetrable scales were all shattered, leaving him submerged in his own dark pool of blood... yet he was alive.
His eyeballs rolled around, catching a fleeting sight of Grey before moving to stare up at Kira in the sky, who was looking down at him with a weary intensity.
’Thi—This is unbelievable. Have I truly lost? How? Such a tremendous amount of power... I thought I would be able to block it quite easily, but I was wrong.
Grey won? I—I... a Corrupted Primordial ranked beast with the strength of a Godbeast... a warrior closest to godhood lost to a mere kid? This is so infuriating.’
He paused his internal rage for a moment as he mentally reviewed how he had even suffered defeat in the first place.
’... No! I didn’t lose to brute strength alone; I lost to his cunning and scheming mind. He made it appear as though he was weakened and couldn’t move so that I would let my guard down. And I did lower it. Damn it! How could I have fallen for such an obvious ruse?!’
Rolling his eyes to glare at the coughing Grey, he frowned deeply.
’No, I didn’t lose to a simple trap. I never suspected it was a deception to begin with because of how far he had been pushing himself since the start of the conflict.
I believed he was bound to collapse, and he did. But I didn’t expect the failure of his body to be a fabrication. What kind of a monster did I choose to go into battle with?!’
Orion’s fury knew no bounds at that moment as he glared in Grey’s direction.
His killing intent flooded the entire area, causing the others to shudder under the weight of his malice.
"No way? He survived that?!" Mada croaked out in sheer shock at his father’s mangled condition.
"But that attack was powerful enough to take down a high-tier demon!"
’And it took me down too,’ Kira added inwardly, her small frown deepening as she surveyed the remains of Orion.
’... He truly is a monster to survive an attack that took me down before. Although he survived, he is far too gravely injured to even move a muscle. This is our singular chance to finish him off.’
Orion’s eyeballs shifted toward Kira, who remained in the sky, as if he were reading her very thoughts for a brief second.
’... With my current condition, they would certainly take it upon themselves to completely end me. The phoenix surely possesses the power to do so, especially since Thalos is incapacitated at the moment.’
He paused his internal monologue for a moment before exhaling a deep, rattling breath.
’Lucky for me, I had reserved this... I only had three uses of it compared to Grey, who has countless applications unless he runs out of mana. I have already utilized two, and I’m left with the final one. I—I cannot believe that I will be forced to retreat. Damn it!’
As she concluded her thoughts, Kira’s body began glowing with a bright incandescence; her eyes shone with a deadly light, and her wings crackled louder and louder with primordial electricity.
Staring in Grey’s direction, Orion opened his mouth, letting streams of dark blood flow down his chin before croaking out:
"You think you won today? You are mistaken. I will return, Grey, and when I do, I will ensure your life is a living hell. Enjoy this hollow victory while it lasts, because when next I reappear, you will be a goner."
Orion paused for a moment as the brilliance surrounding the Phoenix grew brighter and more intense.
Her beak was now wide open, ready to unleash total destruction upon the mangled hybrid on the ground.
Instantly, an obsidian portal yawned open directly beneath the warrior’s broken body.
Grey stared in Orion’s direction, his jaws clenching tightly as he struggled to pull himself up from the debris.
’Can’t— Can’t let him es—escape!’
Inhaling sharply, Orion screamed into the air, his voice full of venomous promise.
"You hear me, Grey Dawn?! I will be fucking back!"
KA-BAAAAANG—!
A bright and gigantic orb of lightning burst from Kira’s mouth, screaming toward Orion like a falling star.
But it was too late.
He had already passed through the void, leaving the orb to eviscerate the ground where he lay a moment ago, therefore blasting rocks and jagged debris in all directions.
Grey collapsed to his knees again before crashing onto his back, spasming uncontrollably as agony tore through his being.
White-hot pain ravaged his very essence, making him feel as if he were experiencing hell on Vayun.
Blood streamed from his eyes like crimson tears while he kept gurgling on his own fluids.
Wheezing continuously, he stared at the sky overhead, only for a sudden, loud bang to draw everybody’s attention.
Someone blurred forward and, soon enough, stood above the mage with malicious intent.
His sword was drawn and immediately swung toward Grey’s exposed neck with deadly speed.
"Finral, NOOOO!" Ray screamed in total shock at the sudden, treacherous turn of events.
