Make Me Moan Mr Therapist.-Chapter 37: Why the fuck am I this angry?!
"Yeah, you feel he deserved it," Fred shot back, tone serious, "but that’s not how the public will see it. No one knows who attacked Sabe yet. People might pin the blame on you. You’re expected to be in the hospital right now, sitting by his bedside, crying or something. But it’s Matthew that’s there instead of you."
Fred paused, letting his next words sink in.
"Sabe wouldn’t want people gossiping that he values his whore over his official, legally wedded partner. He can’t afford that kind of stain on his reputation. And you know he doesn’t love you anymore. He’s always searching for a way to discard you, just waiting for a valid excuse. So he’ll twist it... say you abandoned him in his hardest moment just to sleep with someone else." Fred’s voice hardened, every word sharpening like a blade. "He’ll say he tried to get you back, tried to tell you he loved you, but you ignored him. Only for him to get kidnapped because of your new ’fornication partner.’"
That bastard!!! But then.... I’m not surprised. That’s more like Sabe. Always turning the situation to look like the good, pitiful guy and turn you to the bad guy. Gabe cursed inwardly, fury tightening every muscle in his face. Anger flashed in his eyes but before he could speak, the door to his room swung open, slamming lightly against the wall.
Alex walked in with the calm confidence of someone who owned the space. And of course he owned the space.
"I’ll do the needful, Fred. We’ll talk later," Gabe said quickly. He ended the call and then turned toward Alex, who was now standing in front of him, gaze sharp and unreadable.
"Where have you been?" Gabe asked, eyes narrowing. "Looking at you dressed up like that means you’ve been out. I called your line repeatedly but got no response."
"Yeah," Alex replied with a small, almost arrogant smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he moved to sit beside Gabe. "I went to sort some things out."
"Some things?" Gabe raised an eyebrow. But then a thought struck him so hard it nearly felt physical. Don’t tell me he’s the one responsible for Sabe’s suffering...
His thoughts spiraled.
Yeah, I know he’s a tool to deal with Sabe, but he and I haven’t gotten close like that... or have we? Did I miss something? Does he already like me enough to go after my ex-husband?
Another thought followed, equally bewildering and smug.
He likes me now? Seriously? When I said men are easy creatures, I meant it. We’ve only kissed and okay, stroked each other’s dicks but is that enough for him to go this far? Really?
Alex let out a tired sigh. "Some things that relate to my work," he answered vaguely, giving nothing away. Then his tone softened slightly, eyes flicking over Gabe’s face. "Anyway... when did you wake up? Are you hungry? I can go to the kitchen and get you something to eat."
Gabe blinked rapidly, letting tears fill his eyes.....fake tears, but convincing all the same. He sniffled dramatically.
"My husband..."
Alex’s head snapped toward him.
"What about him?" Alex asked, irritation creeping into his voice. His brow furrowed deeply. "And why are you thinking about him all of a sudden? Didn’t you say you don’t want to see him or talk to him? That you want to forget him completely? Don’t tell me you’re missing him already. It’s only been a day since you’ve been here, and he hasn’t even sent anyone to look for you. He clearly doesn’t give a damn."
Oh yeah... this tone? Gabe thought inwardly with a quiet scoff. This is jealousy. Pure, undeniable jealousy. Noted.
"He was attacked," Gabe finally said, letting the tears roll down his cheeks this time with slower, more deliberate drama. "I saw it on the news. He was beaten terribly by his kidnappers. A normal human or an omega would have died from that kind of punishment but he’s still alive because he’s a high-level alpha. My husband... he was beaten brutally by those unfortunate people."
Oh yes, let’s make him even more jealous, Gabe gloated internally.
"My husband?" Alex repeated silently in his head, eyes narrowing as he placed a hand on his waist and let out a cold scoff. He’s still calling him that? So affectionately? Is this another one of his performances? Another act to get a reaction out of me?
"And so?" Alex said aloud, raising an eyebrow. "What exactly do you want me to do about that? He’s already in the hospital receiving treatment. He gained consciousness. His people are with him. He isn’t alone."
His tone was so detached that Gabe inwardly confirmed his suspicion:
Oh, he definitely had something to do with Sabe’s suffering. And frankly... Sabe deserves every second of it.
Gabe exhaled a shaky breath, forcing his voice to tremble. "But his partner which is me isn’t with him yet, Alex."
Those words landed like a slap.
Alex froze, spine stiffening as a wave of shock and disbelief ran through him.
"I need to get to him," Gabe added softly, voice rich with manipulation and sorrow. "I need to be with him too."
"Are you for real right now?" Alex raised a sharp eyebrow, followed by a scoff, his hands planting firmly on his waist. His posture screamed annoyance and disbelief. "You want to go there?"
"Yes!" Gabe answered without hesitation, his tone carrying a seriousness that made the room feel heavier. "If I continue staying here, then rumors will start flying around that I’m an uncaring partner. That whore with Sabe will be praised instead. I don’t want that. And yes, I don’t want Sabe anymore....I want to divorce him but until that happens, I am still his partner. I can only stop caring once our marriage has officially been annulled. But for now... I hate it, I absolutely hate it, but I must be present during his hard times."
Unbelievable, Alex thought inwardly, letting out another scoff under his breath. I really need to speed up the divorce process before this man drives me insane.
But wait...why the fuck am I this angry?!
"Fine!" Alex said at last. He folded his arms, his tone shifting into something firm but undeniably protective. "Then you should go. But you must return soon before he tries any shit. And just to be on the safe side..." He exhaled slowly, jaw tightening. "I’ll hire some skilled men to serve as bodyguards. And I’ll go with you too. That way Sabe won’t dare keep you in his house just to punish you."
"I’ll have to stay with him," Gabe replied calmly almost too calmly. "I’ll have to follow him to our house the moment he gets discharged from the hospital."
Those words hit Alex like ice water.
Shock flickered across his face, followed by disbelief and something dangerously close to panic. "What? Are you for real right now?"
"During Sabe’s healing process, I’ll have to be with him," Gabe continued, voice soft but firm. "But I’ll still attend my therapy sessions with you."
Oh yes, get uneasy. Get nervous, Gabe thought inwardly, satisfaction curling on his lips in a tiny smile he hid by looking down. Absence makes the heart grow fonder if you love someone, that is. I want to see how you behave if I don’t show up at your office for a day... or two... or three.
Now this is insane, Alex thought, running a frustrated hand through his hair. Is he even listening to himself? Even though I deleted some of the CCTV footage... it’s only a matter of time before Sabe’s memory returns. And when it does... Gabe will be punished. Severely.
"Just take me to the hospital now, please," Gabe said suddenly, snapping Alex out of his spiraling thoughts. "I’m already crippled. I’m not ready to face public slander as an uncaring partner again. Sabe is a high-level alpha....he’ll heal fast. When he does, I can come back to you."
Good, Gabe thought inwardly, determination surging through him in a cold wave. Let any public slander that happens now fall on Sabe’s shoulders. Domestic violence accusations can stain him as long as I provoke him.... Maybe it will not destroy him completely, but enough to finalize our divorce. And after that... I’ll start ruining him. Piece by piece. Until he loses everything.
There’s nothing I can say to persuade him to stay, Alex admitted inwardly with a defeated sigh. All I can do is watch him closely while he’s under Sabe’s roof.
"Fine," Alex said finally, a small, almost strained smile forming on his lips. "We’ll leave tomorrow morning. I’ll take you to the hospital... but first, dinner is ready. You need to eat."
Without waiting another second, Alex stepped closer, slid an arm under Gabe’s knees and another behind his back, and lifted him gently off the bed. He carried Gabe with ease, placing him into the wheelchair before giving the handles a light push.
