"Let’s see about that," Carlson said calmly, placing the bottle of wine back into his coat and facing Leon directly.

"I will help you get into Sky Palace undetected. You’ll have to find your way from there, though, as even I don’t have access to the Needle’s Eye. But first…" Carlson stood up, towering over Leon.

"You’ll have to beat me in a duel. If you win, I help you. If you don’t, you’ll follow me as a servant for the rest of your life." Carlson’s tone was filled with confidence and righteousness. He looked like a saint come to deliver a sinner from his sinful ways.

"You have a deal," Leon replied with a bitter smile, noticing that Carlson’s gesture was causing a commotion. He couldn’t help but shake his head.

"What’s going on here?"

"Isn’t that Technique God Carlson?"

"Wow, is he planning to capture the warlock scum?"

"It’s freezing out, but I have to see this."

Not long after, the townsfolk started congregating from every corner, gathering on the streets and watching as Leon and Carlson stood opposite each other, ready to fight.

"Are you sure about this?" Behind Leon, Ni’an asked, feeling a complicated mix of emotions as he looked at Carlson.

This kid was well-known in Sky Palace territory for being a battle maniac. If the rumors were correct, then Carlson hadn’t lost a single battle in more than a year. He was a monster.

As for Leon? Ni’an didn’t know much about him aside from the rumored unlocking of the Drake bloodline and his accomplishments in clearing the Undergod River and conquering strongholds by the dozens. But beyond that, there was little he knew.

Still, for the old man Bran to call him troublesome… there might really be something about him. But still…

"Don’t be worried. It was going to happen sooner or later," Leon said casually.

If Carlson were destined to remain weak forever, Leon wouldn’t expect to see him again. But he knew the kid. Despite his carefree nature, Carlson aimed for the top like every other genius. Deep down, Leon knew that someday he would cross paths with Carlson, and depending on where they were in life...

They would fight.

"Okay… Oh, by the way, use this." Nodding to Leon’s words, Ni’an handed him a black metallic dagger with razor-sharp edges.

"Hm?" Leon looked at the dagger and grabbed it.

It emitted a peculiar luster that made it seem untouched by the passage of time. It looked pure, without taint. However, that was all there was to it.

It was just a dagger.

"It’s imbued with my energy. As long as I’m alive and you’re not fighting someone stronger than me, it won’t break," Ni’an explained to Leon.

With a mere glance, Ni’an could already tell that the grade-four spear in Carlson’s hand was reinforced with something special… It would be unfair for Leon to go in without something similar.

"I see." Leon nodded before turning to Carlson and stepping forward. His black robe waved in the air, picking up specks of snow, while his dagger gleamed with a sharp luster.

The following seconds were filled with an intense silence that dried up the mouths of those around them as they watched, anticipating who would move first—

*Shuuu*

Snow pushed back from his feet, and in the next second, Carlson disappeared from sight, moving at an incredible speed.

In that brief instant, no one could trace his movements; he was like a ghost born from nothingness, leaving no sound.

"Hmph!"

But, of course—

*Clang*

With the help of his special eyes, Leon could see Carlson’s movements easily.

*Clang*

*Clang*

*Clang*

In the next few seconds, imperceptible blows were exchanged at such a rapid pace that the crowd could only hear the sound of metal clashing and see Leon changing positions.

It was an unsettling sight, realizing that battles of this level were possible—a fight they couldn’t even observe properly. It was terrifying.

But naturally, not everyone was so weak that they couldn’t follow the battle in real-time.

For example, Ni’an and Arian could see every move made by both parties in extreme detail: who attacked, who defended, and the consequences of each strike.

Naturally, it wasn’t just them; those on Sky Palace’s side could also see what was happening very clearly, and they couldn’t help but gasp at it.

Carlson’s speed wasn’t new to them; they knew how fast he could go and how dangerous his attacks were with the help of the Emperor’s Eyes.

It allowed him to see attacks in slow motion and predict their trajectory. This made Carlson a nightmare in one-on-one battles, as he had total spatial awareness.

But how in the world was Leon keeping up?!

"He’s really good," Ni’an said with a broad smile, seemingly excited at what was unfolding before him.

Leon was fast, but not as fast as Carlson—not even close. But he was able to keep up. How? It wasn’t easy to catch, but Ni’an could see it.

It was based on one thing:

Experience!

Leon was so adept at fighting that even though he couldn’t see all of Carlson’s attacks, he could make moves beforehand to compensate for any losses or shortcomings on his side.

This was born from his years of fighting prior to coming to this world, he had been a globally hunted individual, there was no kind of battle that he hadn’t gotten into throughout his many years.

His experience was born from sweat and blood.

It was an incredible feat that even Ni’an, the so-called "Child of God," couldn’t accomplish at the same level.

It was not only surprising, it also sparked a flame in Ni’an’s heart. Talents like these still existed? Both Carlson and Leon were amazing.

"Heh, they’d still lose," Ni’an couldn’t help but comment trying to feel good about himself while tightening his fist as a smile appeared on his face.

Even if both of them attacked him in unison right now, they would definitely lose. And that was enough for him. He folded his hands and just continued observing the fight before him.
