Chapter 254: A fish-man?

Nonetheless, he had no other choice than to attend to it, meaning he had to put his wedding on hold...

Though he didn’t know what was going on, he could tell it was something that needed his attention.

’How annoying.’ He thought, turning his attention back to Harry.

"What... is happening?" Anna, his bride said, tightly holding onto his arm.

Although she seemed helpless, she was one of the most powerful mages in the world currently and was also a high-ranked adventurer.

Most of the people at the wedding were powerful Elementalists, either from the AMO or their respective guilds.

"I’m not sure yet... but the mana in the air is rapidly getting thinner, almost like it’s all getting sucked into one place," Leon said, his eyes narrowing into a deep frown.

"What...?" Harry muttered, his eyes widening in surprise.

Out of curiosity, he quickly scanned the mana in the air, only to see that Leon’s words were true.

"Hart, you and the others should organise the congregation and make sure they’re safe." He said, turning to a tall man standing some meters away from him.

"Okay, sir." The man responded, making a slight nod at him.

"And..." He muttered, his eyes flickering with a sad glint as he turned back to Anna.

"Don’t worry, I understand..." She replied, flashing a slight smile at him.

She then drew his head closer, closing her eyes before planting her soft lips on his.

They both kissed each other for a few seconds, before slowly withdrawing from themselves.

"Be safe, okay?" Leon said, gently cupping her cheeks.

"Yeah." She said, finally moving away from him.

"And I’ll make sure whoever is behind this pay dearly!" She shouted, her expression twisting into a deep frown.

"Hmm! Hmm!" Harry coughed after she left, flashing a knowing glance at Leon.

However, the latter ignored him, focusing on the matter at hand instead.

"You’re coming with me." He said, walking out of the stage.

"Okay, to where?" Harry asked, following him while taking off his suit, leaving only the shirt underneath.

’To think I’ll have to take it off this early end.’ He thought, draping it over his shoulders.

"I can sense where the mana is gathering, that’s where we’re heading," Leon said, the frown on his face deepening with every word that came out of his lips.

"What do you think is happening Leon?" Harry’s expression swiftly turned serious, as he stared at the blonde-haired man, hoping for an answer.

"The ambient mana around us is all being redirected somewhere, but it’s not because it’s being absorbed or anything," Leon replied, using his fingers to trace the path of the mana in the air.

If a normal person saw him, they would think he was simply drawing circles in the air.

Only a mage with powerful mana sense could notice what he was doing.

"It’s strange, but it seems like the mana itself is trying to push something... or someone out." Leon continued, pausing for a few seconds.

"It isn’t too far from here." He added, letting out an annoyed sigh.

Upon hearing his words, Harry’s brows furrowed into a deep frown.

"I don’t understand that, but it doesn’t sound like it’ll be good for us." He replied.

The mana in the world reducing would drastically affect the power that could be displayed by Elementalists and mages, making it less efficient.

The ambient mana acted as a boost for their spells, meaning that being in a place with a large density of mana would naturally increase the power of their attacks.

Therefore, if the ambient mana was too low, they would only be able to rely on the mana within their mana core, and their spells wouldn’t be as strong as they’re supposed to.

There was also the case of mana recovery, which would also be greatly affected...

The only one who would be unaffected by the situation was Leon, as he didn’t have a mana core in the first place, neither did he use mana.

Rumble!!

Another powerful tremor suddenly shook the earth, and before long, the air itself started trembling around them.

"Yeah. We should hurry." Leon said, and they both rushed out of the building.

*

The light rapidly gathered around Leon’s body, shrouding his body in a brilliant shower of light.

Swoosh!!

He suddenly shot forward like a jet, leaving a thin trail of light as he flew through the air.

His figure looked like a bright shooting star, moving through the heavens at rapid speed.

Fwoosh!!

Two huge flame wings swiftly burst out of Harry’s back, and he immediately followed after Leon, blasting through the air at great speed.

’Just as I expected... I’m not as fast as I’m supposed to.’ Harry thought, staring at Leon who was already far ahead of him.

Though normally, he couldn’t keep up with Leon when it came to speed or power, he could still move at least twice faster than this with the boost from the ambient mana.

Suddenly, a set of green specks of dust floated from Leon towards him, and his speed immediately received a massive boost.

’Now that’s more like it.’ He thought, propelling himself with another fire blast.

After a few minutes of flying, Leon finally came to a halt, simply hovering in the air with sparkling white dots floating all around him.

"We’re here," Leon said, a strange glint flashing across his eyes.

"Ohh, that’s good," Harry said, flapping his wings as he also paused in the air.

He was currently clad in a well-fitted black and blue armour, which covered him up to his neck, leaving only his face open.

As for Leon, he was putting on light black and gold armour, which clung nicely to his body. His face was also uncovered, the armour only climbing up to his neck.

The armour was a type recently developed by the AMO, it could be equipped very fast and also fitted comfortably to its user’s body.

Although they were formerly in normal clothes, they quickly equipped their armour during the flight here, greatly boosting their overall strength.

’The mana is gathering here...’ Harry thought, his eyes widening in surprise.

He could sense the mana stirring violently at a particular spot, and he swiftly focused on it, curious to see what would happen.

’That’s strange...’ Leon thought, narrowing his eyes slightly in confusion. ’I have a bad feeling about this.’

Crack!!

Suddenly, a large crack appeared in the sky, causing their eyes to widen in shock.

Crack!!

The crack rapidly expanded, and an oddly-looking hand with thick blue scales slowly emerged from the other side, tightly grabbing the ’sky’.

The people watching from the ground stared at the giant crack in the sky with their faces frozen in fear.

"W-what the hell is that?"

"Am I hallucinating... or is that a hand stretching out of it?"

"Just what is going on...?"

"Look, two people are flying close to it!" A young boy said, pointing his finger at the figures of Leon and Harry flying in the sky.

"It’s Leon, and the grand mage Harry!"

"There’s no need to panic anymore, this is already resolved."

After someone said that, the rest of the crowd nodded his agreement.

"We still need to run! We’ll be in trouble if a fight breaks out!" Some of them quickly started running, unwilling to get caught up in a fight of such a level.

However, some still stayed, staring at the sky in anticipation.

A large number of them even took out their phones, eager to video whatever would happen next.

Meanwhile, in the sky, Leon stared at the large crack in front of him with a deep frown on his face.

Although the crack seemed like a rift at first glance, the size was unnatural for a rift.

There was also that hand sticking out of it, which sent chills down his spine.

Crack!!

"Hahaha!!" A loud, maniacal laughter suddenly echoed in the air, and the crack rapidly expanded, stretching across the sky.

Crack!!

The ’space’ in front of them swiftly shattered, and a strange creature slowly stepped out of it, locking his eyes on Leon and Harry.

He had four eyes; one pair slightly larger than the other. Jutting out of his fingers were long blue claws and his whole body was adorned with shiny fish-like scales.

His ears were small and were tightly covered with a weird transparent sack.

"Finally!" He exclaimed, revealing the two thin fins at the side of his arms as he extended his arm to the side.

"What the hell... is he supposed to be?" Harry muttered, narrowing his eyes at the strange creature standing in front of them.

"An evolved mana beast...?" He said, raising one of his brows in confusion.

"No..." Leon muttered, his gaze lingering on the man in surprise.

Meanwhile, the brows of the blue-scaled man in front of them twitched countless times in annoyance as he heard the words of the two.

"Mana beast... you dare compare me to those lowly animals?!!" He shouted, his voice coming out in a crisp tone.

"He understands English..." Harry muttered, nodding his head slightly.

"Who are you? Why have you come here?" Leon asked, ignoring his earlier shout.

’He’s clearly not human... so what kind of race is he?’ He thought, clenching his fist in preparation for a fight.

Although this strange person was concealing his true strength, he could still sense it... whoever this person was, they were terrifyingly strong!

"You dare to ask about my aim! You lowly creature!" The man roared in anger.

Fwoosh!!

A large amount of mana suddenly burst of his body, and the sky trembled violently, unable to withhold his sheer power.
