Chapter 278: An anomaly

Harry simply watched him, a little confused about what he was supposed to say.

He had never been too good at consoling people, nor had he been good at offering words of encouragement.

While his consciousness spent quite some time witnessing most of what Leon experienced, it felt more like watching a movie.

He didn’t literally watch all fifteen years of his life from the moment he awakened his energy until the celestial’s descent.

He only saw the things Leon wanted him to see, mostly things related to the demons and celestial invasion.

However, the little time he spent living his life was more than enough to give him a good understanding of his character.

"Well... you still saved the world. If none of that happened, then this world wouldn’t even exist anymore," Harry said, shrugging his shoulders.

"That’s not how I see it, though..." Leon said, turning back to Harry. He slowly drew a line in the air using a finger, with Harry’s attention focused intensely on his actions.

"You can take this as the ’original timeline’... when I lived," he said, his hand suddenly stopping in the air.

"From that point when I reversed time..." He muttered, calmly tracing an arc backward with his finger until he got to the point where he started.

"...Everything that was supposed to happen, didn’t happen. So from that point to the point I reversed from... were erased from the universe." He said, wiping off the imaginary line he drew with his palm.

"I didn’t ’save’ anything. I only wiped everyone off, even worse than Kronos did." He muttered, pausing for a few seconds before continuing. "Billions of innocent lives... erased from time due to what I did."

Harry’s eyes narrowed deeply, pondering over what Leon just said. Although he already understood this before, how Leon explained it placed everything in perspective, giving him a more detailed understanding of the situation.

That meant everyone in Leon’s life, all the friends and family he ever made, no longer existed.

It was a huge burden to shoulder, especially knowing it was all due to his fault. He couldn’t help but imagine how he would feel if he were the one in Leon’s shoes.

But nonetheless, many things about that old timeline were still not clear to him. The erasure of the timeline was basically the smallest issue out of all of them, leaving him with many questions.

"I’m still confused, though..." Harry said, his eyes narrowing deeply. "In that ’old timeline’... there was a ’Harry Morton’ also, how is that possible?"

That was one thing that had always been puzzling him, even since he set his eyes on the other Harry.

They had extremely similar appearances, which was what made Harry sure that he was a different version of himself in that timeline.

It was what confused him... how could he exist in a timeline that was already destroyed, or rather, how come he was still existing even after being wiped out in that other timeline?

None of it made any sense to him, especially considering the fact that the other timeline was set in the future... even if it was an ’erased’ one.

That’s... quite complicated," Leon muttered, his brows knitting into a slight frown. "It’s something I don’t really understand myself. As you know... that other Harry was erased along with the rest of the timeline." He said, the frown on his face deepening.

So the only plausible explanation is that you’re a time anomaly, Harry... an ’error’ through time." He continued, letting out a deep sigh.

Huh? An anomaly... an ’error’ through time...?" Harry muttered, his brows raising in confusion.

None of what Leon was saying made any sense to him. He was still struggling to piece together all that he had seen. However, with what Leon just said, all the pieces started falling apart once again.

"That’s why I said it’s complicated... even I don’t understand it," Leon said, his brows furrowing slightly. He paused for a moment, as if carefully considering his next words. "The truth is, Harry... you were never supposed to exist."

Harry’s eyes widened in shock, his heart skipping a beat. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Your true existence has been erased in the original timeline, about 200 years ago," Leon explained, his tone grave.

"But somehow... by some glitch in the fabric of time itself, you were able to exist." Leon’s face twisted into a frown as he spoke, his words hanging heavily in the air.

"Haven’t you ever wondered... why you’ve always felt different? Isn’t it strange... how the ’Harry Morton’ in that other timeline could utilize mana, but somehow you can’t?"

Harry gasped, each word spoken by Leon driving deep into his heart like spears.

"This world doesn’t register your existence Harry... and that’s ’cause you were never supposed to exist."

"That’s why you never had a mana foundation... why you were never able to use mana."

"You were shunned by the world, that’s why eveyeone treated you the way the did... your parents, even your brother." Leon folded his arms at his back, slowly turning to Harry to see his reaction.

However, contrary to his expectations, Harry didn’t break out into a straight panic, and instead seemed to be taking it all pretty well.

Meanwhile, Harry’s mind was plunged into a turmoil as he kept pondering over Leon’s words.

Harry felt his breath hitch in his throat.

His brother’s coldness, the distance, the resentment he faced growing up—all of it suddenly made sense.

He wasn’t just unwanted; he was never meant to be. The world itself rejected him, and even his family shunned him also.

"The world doesn’t register my existence..." He muttered, his face frozen in a mixture of shock and confusion.

Leon nodded slowly, releasing a deep sigh.

"But then... how come I still exist? If I wasn’t supposed to be here, why hasn’t the world erased me completely?" He asked, his eyes narrowing at Leon.

"That’s the thing Harry..." Leon said. "I don’t really understand it, but the world can’t ’fix’ it anymore. I don’t know what really happened that caused this, but whatever it is, you’re here now... the universe has no choice than to accept it."

Harry’s mind was spinning, trying to process everything he had just learned. He wasn’t supposed to exist. He was an anomaly, a mistake that the world couldn’t correct. And yet, here he was, standing alive in a world that didn’t want him.

"I’m honestly don’t know what to say," Harry muttered, his lips curling into a wry smile. "This changes everything... all that I’ve known about myself."
