Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 294: Anticipating Tomorrow
Chapter 294: Anticipating Tomorrow
"Nothing," Selina said calmly. "Just that the water I gave you had a little something in it too. And you drank it without a second thought."
"You—!" Katie lunged at her, but moved too fast and crashed to the floor with a loud thud.
A sudden wave of numbness surged through Katie’s body, making her shudder all over.
Selina looked down at her with interest. "Looks like it’s kicking in. How’s it feel?"
Katie’s mouth went dry. Panic set in. She scrambled to the door—only to find it locked.
In less than a minute, the power dynamic had flipped. Now Katie was the one desperate to escape. "Selina, open the door!"
Selina looked surprised. "Didn’t you lock it yourself? How is that my fault? I just modified the lock a bit so you wouldn’t be able to open it."
Her calmness was infuriating.
Katie snapped, "What are you so smug about?! You drank the drugged water too! When Ellis comes back, you’re done for!"
Selina blinked innocently. "Mrs. Bryant, do you really think I’m that stupid? I came here knowing this was Ellis’s room. Want to guess why?"
What did she mean...?
Katie backed up, shaking, a terrifying realization creeping in. "You—you conniving little bitch, you’re trying to set me up!"
"Oh good," Selina said with a nod. "You’re not entirely brain-dead after all."
"Relax. I already disabled the wiring in this room. When Ellis stumbles in drunk, the whole place will be pitch black. Do you think he’ll care who’s in his bed?"
"All he knows is that Angelica promised to send me to him tonight. So obviously, he’ll assume the woman waiting for him... is me."
Katie screamed, "No! You can’t! You can’t do this to me!"
Selina was going to throw her onto Ellis’s bed.
No. No. This couldn’t happen!
"You dare?! Angelica will get revenge for me! If I’d known you’d turn out like this, I would’ve killed you and your dead mom years ago—!"
Selina’s hand shot out and clamped around Katie’s throat. "You know, Mrs. Bryant, this is kind of your fault. Why’d you come for me alone? Isn’t that basically asking to die?"
Katie had lured her into a trap, dragged her to a place with no surveillance, thinking Selina would fall right in. She never imagined she’d be the one getting played.
"Mrs. Bryant," Selina leaned in, lowering her voice, "While you were scheming against me, what made you so sure I wasn’t doing the same to you? Clearly, I won this round."
"Angelica’s definitely going to barge in with people tomorrow morning to catch us in the act. I wonder what kind of face she’ll make... when she finds you in Ellis’s bed instead."
Selina, wearing gloves, had already cut the phone line in the room and yanked the SIM card from Katie’s phone. She even gave a helpful little reminder:
"Oh, and feel free to claim I set you up. Of course, whether anyone believes you is another story. You came to me in secret, avoided all the cameras—no one knows we met tonight."
The whole trap Katie and Angelica had crafted for Selina was now neatly reversed—and no one could say it wasn’t deserved.
"No, no, Selina, let me out... You evil bitch! You’d even destroy your stepmother? You’re ruining my life! What would Logan think if he found out?!"
Selina raised an eyebrow, completely unfazed. "Thanks for the concern, but my husband already knows I don’t let grudges slide. If I were you, I’d be a lot more worried about myself right now."
She flipped off the lights, voice sweet and cold.
"Goodnight, Mrs. Bryant. Hope you enjoy your evening."
Click. The door locked.
Katie watched the light under the door disappear and felt only two words in her heart: It’s over...
This was supposed to be the perfect gift she had prepared for Selina—so how did it all end up on her? Why?!
What now? What the hell was she supposed to do now?
She had imagined this moment so many times—Selina lying here, hopeless and humiliated. She’d been thrilled, couldn’t wait to shout to the world that Victoria’s daughter was nothing but a whore—someone who climbed into beds to get ahead.
But now...
Selina walked out of Ellis’s room after handling everything, letting out a long breath of relief.
Two years ago, she’d been caught off guard—tricked by Angelica and left in Ellis’s bed, with no way to clear her name.
And now Angelica had tried to pull the exact same stunt. If Selina had fallen for it again today, who would’ve believed she was innocent?
So she switched the target to Katie. Angelica loved playing games, right? Well, how would she feel when the one getting trapped this time... was her own mother?
Back in the lounge, Logan looked up. "All taken care of?"
Selina nodded and walked over with an exaggerated pout. "Katie framing me once wasn’t enough—she had to try again. Just proves it: nice people get stepped on. I’m too kind, that’s why I get bullied!"
Jack’s mouth twitched. Logan’s face didn’t budge. "Yeah, they’re the problem. And Katie?"
Selina looked slightly embarrassed. "Still in Ellis’s room. I just gave her a taste of her own medicine. Tell me, was I wrong?"
Logan answered without blinking, "You were right."
Jack: "..."
He had no doubt that if Mrs. Reid ever wanted Katie dead, Mr. Reid would hand her the knife himself.
"Sir, a bunch of online gossip accounts are blowing up the scandal from two years ago," Jack reported. "Pretty sure Angelica’s company is behind it. Should we shut it down?"
Selina leaned in for a look, raising her brows.
Sure enough, the usual accounts managed by Angelica’s team were spinning the narrative—claiming that back in the day, Selina seduced a judge to make it into the finals.
The comment section was a mess. Pure hate, no filter. Logan’s face darkened.
But Selina just shook her head. "Angelica’s building hype for tomorrow’s big ’scandal.’"
She wanted everyone to believe Selina had a history of sleeping her way up—so when they ’caught’ her again tomorrow, no one would doubt it. Her reputation would be ruined for good.
That was Angelica’s plan.
But it was also part of Selina’s plan. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"No need to stop them," she said. "In fact, let those gossip accounts blow it up even more."
Selina propped her chin up. "Oh, and make sure we have reporters on-site tomorrow. An affair scandal like this? Gotta livestream it—anything less would be a waste of traffic."
Jack cleared his throat. "I’ll get it arranged."
Selina waved him off. "Nah, take a break. I’ll handle it myself."
After all, these gossip accounts were Angelica’s pets. The controversy was Angelica’s doing. She paid for it, promoted it—and in the end, Selina would be the one to benefit.
Ah... she couldn’t wait for tomorrow.
