Chapter 321: A Man with No Taste

Selina: "?" Angelica wants to talk business with Logan? She has the nerve?

Before she could say anything, Logan paused his writing.

"Let them in."

Selina: "!" He’s letting them come up?!

She nearly exploded like a pufferfish, already calculating how much it would cost to buy out the entire Morris Family.

...

Kyle was feeling conflicted.

He knew the truth now, but hadn’t said a word. He was still playing the role of Angelica’s brother. At this point, he didn’t even know how to face Selina.

Angelica looked apologetic.

"Sorry, Kyle. Because of me, the Morris Family’s business has suffered. I didn’t know how else to make up for it—for you or for Dad. That’s why I want to work with Mr. Reid."

Kyle’s expression grew more complicated.

"Angelica..."

"Don’t worry," she continued. "I’m definitely going to win the design competition this time. Once my winning design goes into production, it’ll help recover the losses."

Then she sighed.

"But Selina will probably try to get in my way again. She’s always competing with me even though she’s no match. Don’t be mad at her, okay?"

Kyle stared blankly, thinking: Right... Selina really doesn’t measure up to Angelica.

Maybe Angelica becoming the Morris Family’s heiress was fate.

After all, Selina didn’t seem to have any ambition, couldn’t even win a design competition. If she returned to the family, she’d only embarrass them.

Yes. Yes... He had to stand firm on Angelica’s side. His choice was right. This had nothing to do with betraying his real sister—it was just that Selina didn’t deserve the Morris Family. That was it.

Reassured by his own twisted reasoning, Kyle collected himself and stepped into the elevator.

...

Logan’s office had its own lounge area. Angelica walked in gracefully, gave Selina a glance, and sat on the couch like she owned it.

"Oh? Selina, you’re here too?" she asked sweetly, pretending to be surprised.

Kyle took a seat next to her, filling up the lounge seating so there was nowhere left for Selina to sit.

Selina rolled her eyes so hard they nearly got stuck.

Angelica smiled with that typical polished grace, clearly trying to show off.

"Would you mind waiting a bit, Selina? I’ve got a business proposal to discuss with Logan. Afterward, he’ll have time for you."

The implication?

Angelica was a woman of business. Selina was just a clingy wife with nothing better to do.

Selina gave her a look like she’d just swallowed a fly.

Seriously, what was wrong with Angelica? Showing up first thing in the morning just to annoy people?

Angelica turned to Logan.

"Logan, I’ve taken over the Morris Family’s fashion line. A partnership between us would be a win-win."

Logan gave a faint smirk and casually skimmed the financial report.

"A partnership?"

Angelica smiled warmly.

"Yes. Logan, I know there’s some tension between me and Selina, but this is business. It’s about two companies’ futures. I hope you’ll consider it carefully."

Logan looked calm as ever. "Heh."

Just one soft laugh—but Angelica couldn’t tell what he meant by it. Was that a yes? A no?

Still, she had to make this partnership happen. It was her best shot at staying close to Logan.

If Morris Group and Reid Group became partners, she’d be the sole liaison. That meant countless excuses to see Logan.

Kyle couldn’t help chiming in, "Mr. Reid, Angelica’s design skills are undeniable. This partnership would be mutually beneficial. It would also strengthen ties between the Morris and Reid families—and help you resist pressure from Reid Family."

As he spoke, Kyle’s eyes drifted to Selina.

He had to admit—Angelica was simply better than Selina.

Even if just to prove that point, he was going to make this partnership happen.

And if the truth ever came out?

Well, he could always say he did it because Selina wasn’t good enough. That’s why he hoped Angelica would take her place as his sister.

Angelica smiled gently.

"Logan, there’s no reason to turn down a partnership with the Morris Family. And since we’ve known each other for years, no one is more suited to lead this collaboration than I am."

Logan gave a small smile but said nothing.

Selina was fuming. How could Angelica be so shameless?!

Had Katie’s downfall taught her nothing? Just because she had the Morris Family backing her, she thought she could partner with Logan?

Logic told Selina to stay calm—maybe Logan had his own plans.

But reality? Her body moved faster than her brain.

Wasn’t Logan planning a deal with Star? That wasn’t even finalized yet, and now he was looking at someone else?

Screw logic. She was done being rational.

Selina stormed over to the tea table, poured a cup of tea, and marched back.

Angelica was still speaking gently, "Logan, if it’s about terms, Morris Family is open to concessions. As long as you—"

Bang!

Selina slammed the cup in front of Logan and gave Angelica a pointed smile.

"Sorry, Angelica, but I’m afraid Logan won’t be partnering with the Morris Group."

Angelica froze.

Selina stood tall, her presence overwhelming, making Angelica feel an invisible weight pressing down on her.

Kyle couldn’t help but interrupt, "Selina, stop causing trouble."

Selina blinked in disbelief.

"What?" Kyle just called her Selina? He either barked her name or just yelled "hey" in the past. Since when were they on a first-name basis?

She and Kyle were that close now?

Angelica glanced at Logan, biting her lip.

"Selina, I know you don’t like me, but I’m here today on behalf of the Morris Family. The higher-ups at Reid Group are aware of this meeting and are fully supportive."

"If this partnership falls apart—and it gets out that you were the reason—what will people think of you? Even if Logan runs Reid Group, he can’t silence everyone."

Kyle nodded. Angelica was representing the Morris Family. Plenty of people already knew.

If Selina kicked up a fuss, the fallout would land on her. Then what?

Out of some lingering "sibling affection," Kyle said with a conflicted expression, "Selina, Angelica’s right. This is for your own good. Don’t make a scene."

Angelica snuck a look at Logan’s face.

Surely Logan would be upset. Selina was acting like this was a game, disrupting a serious business deal.

With a sigh of pretend helplessness, Angelica added, "Selina, maybe you don’t know this, but Reid Group has always had a weakness in fashion. They’ve been lacking a strong designer. If we work together, I could fill that gap—"

"A well-known designer?"

Selina blinked, genuinely confused.

"Angelica, you’re not talking about yourself, are you?"

"I am—"

Selina cut her off.

"I don’t know where you got that kind of confidence. Do you seriously think you can fix Reid Group’s fashion weakness? Are you that famous?"

"Remind me—how did you win that last design competition? You do remember it got revoked, right?"

"You’ve only ever won one award, and the trophy was taken back. Meanwhile, Reid Group’s in-house designers have multiple silver awards. So, Angelica—what exactly do you think you’re bringing to the table?"
