Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 365: The King of Sharp Tongues
Chapter 365: The King of Sharp Tongues
Joe froze.
Luke spoke up, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Ohhh right, totally. Chairman Morris, you’re absolutely right—who is Selina anyway? Some nobody, not worthy of an apology from your precious heiress. Now that she’s fainted, are you satisfied?"
Joe flushed red. "I didn’t expect this to happen..."
All he had wanted was to deescalate things—not to actually hurt Selina.
Angelica stammered, shaking her head frantically. "Dad, no, Selina’s fine! She’s faking it, I’m sure she is—"
"Angelica, do you really think everyone fakes fainting as easily as you do?"
Luke looked like he was about to explode. "You faked a pregnancy, faked a miscarriage, framed her—and now you’re accusing her of pretending to faint?! What next, you want us to slap her awake just to prove your innocence?"
Angelica was speechless, her face drained of color. "I-I didn’t mean..."
The more Luke thought about it, the angrier he got.
Selina had actually fainted from being so furious—she was too soft! Someone had to get justice for her.
Luke couldn’t hold back anymore. Once he started talking, it was like a machine gun—rapid fire, unstoppable.
Selina: "..."
Hidden from view, she quietly reached out and tugged on Luke’s sleeve.
Luke immediately froze. "...What?"
Wait. She was pretending?
No. Even if she was faking it—he was going to make it look real!
So everyone watched as Luke got even more fired up.
"Maybe I should take a field trip to death row. Show the inmates how to win in their next life: get reborn into the Morris Family! There, no matter what crimes you commit, Chairman Morris will clean up your mess. What? The victim wants justice? Pfft. Being hurt by a Morris Family member is a privilege!"
"And while I’m at it, I’ll help every mistress who hasn’t climbed the ladder yet—just become Chairman Morris’s daughter! He’s a saint for homewreckers. Loves helping mistresses kick out the wife. With him around, the whole upper class will be a paradise for side chicks!"
Then he pulled out his phone and started calling.
"Hi, Aunt Cooper? It’s me, Luke! You won’t believe what Chairman Morris and Angelica did today—"
"Hey, Lucy! Yep, Luke here. Listen, heads up: the Morris Family loves mistresses. Angelica? Total side chick. Yeah, just looking out for you—your boyfriend’s a Morris Family relative, right? Better dump him now. If you marry into that mess, he’ll probably be encouraged to cheat. That’s their brand."
Selina nearly choked trying not to laugh. Luke, have you even seen your mom’s face right now?
Thankfully, she was curled up in Logan’s arms—no one could see the way her lips were twitching. If Luke kept going, she was going to blow her cover.
Only after the second call did Joe finally snap back and shout, "Luke!"
But Luke completely ignored him. "Logan, why are you still standing here? Chairman Morris already made it clear—he’s not apologizing. You could wait here until the end of time and still get nothing. Better to take Selina home and let her rest."
Without a word, Logan scooped Selina into his arms and walked out, not sparing the Morris Family a glance.
Angelica clutched her chest, struggling to breathe. "No, Logan... don’t go... Dad, please, make him stay..."
For the first time, Joe didn’t grant her request. He just stood there in a daze, watching Logan’s silhouette disappear.
Something about all of this felt wrong. Why had he lost control and said those things? And why did he now feel this overwhelming sense of regret?
...
Selina was carried out of the Reid estate. Once outside, she opened her eyes and said, "No one’s around. Put me down."
"There are still cameras here, Mrs. Reid. Stay in character," Logan said calmly.
Selina choked for a second. Stay in character? What—for pretending to be unconscious?
Once they got in the car, she noticed guests starting to file out of the Reid estate.
Realization hit, and she couldn’t help the schadenfreude. "Wow, half the guests for Grandpa Reid’s birthday party are leaving already. Think the old man’s gonna have a stroke?"
Logan had left. Aiden had left. The guests who only came to suck up to them would leave too.
And once again, Grandpa Reid had to face reality: no matter how high he ranked in the Reid family, people only showed up because of Logan.
Logan rolled up the window. "At least Morris Family gave him 5% of their shares. Not a total loss."
Morris Family.
Selina narrowed her eyes—and spotted Joe.
Joe was walking out with Angelica. His face was pale. Though he tried to keep a calm front, it was obvious today had shaken him.
He had truly believed Angelica was pregnant. He felt disappointed, angry—but not once did he think of cutting her off. After all, she was Victoria’s daughter. "Angelica..."
"Dad, I know I was wrong."
Angelica’s tears were streaming. "I was just... just too jealous of Selina. I’m sorry..."
Joe could yell at anyone, but never at Angelica. "That’s enough. I’ll handle things with Logan. From now on, Angelica, stay away from Selina."
Angelica clenched her teeth. "Yes, Dad."
Selina looked away. She had no interest in recognizing him as her father—but she was curious. If Joe knew the full truth, what would he do?
Would he bury it for the sake of pride, like Kyle did? Kyle had known for a while but kept quiet for Angelica. If it were Joe who learned the truth, what would he do?
...
It was after 11 p.m. when they got back to Sapphire Valley Villa. Logan made two phone calls in the study—his expression growing colder each time.
Jaxon reported on the other end, "Grandma Morris began investigating Madam four years ago. She likely knew back then that Madam was Chairman Morris’s daughter..."
"She also sabotaged one of Madam’s earlier business deals."
"Grandma Morris had limited contact with Katie, but she knew her well enough to have definitely met Angelica."
Logan’s voice turned frigid. "So ever since Grandma Morris found out about Selina, she’s been going out of her way to make things hard for her?"
"That’s correct."
Logan let out a cold laugh. "Joe didn’t notice anything?"
Jaxon hesitated. "From what we know, Joe is prideful, naive, and foolish. He noticed his mother targeting someone, but he never gave it a second thought. In his mind, that person just wasn’t important."
Not just unimportant—Joe probably thought if Grandma Morris chose to target someone, then that person must’ve deserved it. Being hated by Grandma Morris might’ve even seemed like some twisted honor.
He never imagined that the girl his mother had treated like a thorn in her side all these years... was his own daughter.
