Chapter 252: Find a way

Mia elegantly folded one leg over the other, her fingers rhythmically drumming on the smooth surface of her lap. Her gaze was intensely fixed on the television screen situated in her office.

In the following instant, she shifted her attention and turned her head.

Mia admitted with a hint of confusion, "There’s something happening, and for some reason, I just can’t quite understand it," as Mina held her gaze firmly on Mia.

"Are you certain about that, Mia? You have Abi under your control, so what leads you to believe that things might not unfold as intended?" Mina asked with a thoughtful tone.

Mia took a deep breath, her chest rising slightly, before she shifted her gaze to the television screen.

She settled into the couch, crossing her legs, and then folded her arms, resting them beneath her chest.

"Aunty, although she might currently be in my custody, and the IMF could indeed be involved in the situation that has led to Vixen’s imprisonment, consider this: Do you really believe that Vixen would simply allow all of this to pass without having a plan in place?"

"Hmm, you have a point. Vixen Joe is indeed a very malevolent individual. However, my intuition suggests that we’re on the right track this time. This is everything you’ve ever desired, and it’s the perfect chance to bend Vixen to our advantage."

"I’m familiar with that Aunt, and I’m genuinely thrilled to witness this unfold. If only Vixen had understood much earlier the significance I hold in his life, then none of this would have occurred. He brought this situation upon himself, and no one else is to blame. I’m ready to love him with unwavering devotion, and as for these women, how do they even compare to me?"

"You know, that quality is exactly why I admire you. When it comes to being with your man, you must claim him honestly and respectfully, and frankly, I couldn’t care less if Abi happens to be under your care."

Mia inquired, "I know that wouldn’t bother you, but what are you planning for your husband?"

"We’ve had him for quite a while now, but honestly, I didn’t anticipate that you would keep him in this state of unconsciousness for such an extended period."

"I understand that you’re concerned, Aunt, but I would like you to continue providing the same response that you’ve consistently offered to others." Mia pointed out, "That your husband is not available."

Mina gave a sly smile, shifting her eyes to focus intently on Mia; "Do you honestly believe I’m going to fail this time? It’s as if you have no clue about the kind of woman you’re dealing with," Mina expressed with a light-hearted laugh, prompting Mia to smile warmly.

"I only wish your mother could truly see the remarkable person you are beyond just being a critical parent."

"You know, I can honestly say I will never grow weary of declaring that you’re the most amazing aunt anyone could ever ask for. I often find myself questioning what I’ve done in my life to be fortunate enough to have you," Mia expressed, causing Mina to blush and laugh softly.

"My dear, I am well aware that you’re simply trying to flatter me."

"Absolutely, you’re correct. However, regardless of how I wish to view the situation, I cannot ignore this truth. My mother is unaware of the daughter she has lost. Her obsession with reprimanding me is all-consuming."

"Ultimately, she is your mother, isn’t she? What else would you anticipate?"

Mia clenched her teeth, her eyes fixed intently on the screen before her.

Her jaw stiffened as she balled her hand into a tight fist, and then she resolutely proclaimed, "That’s the situation, Aunt. Despite everything, the undeniable truth is that she remains my mother," she stated with an icy tone.

Mina observed her with suspicion, her curiosity piqued, and she remarked inquisitively, "Surely, you’re not thinking of taking any drastic actions against your mother, are you?" As those words escaped her aunt’s lips, Mia shifted her gaze to meet her aunt’s eyes.

"Honestly, Aunt, do you truly believe I would actually do anything to that woman? Moreover, it seems she has something coming her way all on her own."

"And what exactly do you mean by that?" Mina asked, prompting Mia to turn her head and lock eyes with Mina, a sly smile forming on her lips.

"You’ll understand in due time, Aunt," Mia replied with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

In the following moment, she shifted her gaze to the television screen, focusing intently on the reporter delivering the latest news that had been making waves across the nation.

"The well-known entrepreneur, Vixen Joe, is set to begin the hearing related to the case involving the woman whose brother was tragically killed," the news reporter announced.

A smirk gradually appeared on Mia’s lips.

"I truly wish he discovers a path out of this situation, leading him to understand that I was meant to be the one for him, and not anyone else," Mia expressed with a hint of longing.

As she finished her thought, Mia noticed her phone ringing.

With a casual indifference, she reached for the device, her gaze remaining fixed on the screen. She then answered the call, her voice steady as she spoke.

"Really?" she responded plainly, her face remaining expressionless.

However, as soon as she received the information from the person on the other end of the line, Mia’s brow furrowed. In a state of surprise, she exclaimed, "What?"

Mina felt a wave of concern wash over her as she noticed Mia’s sudden movement. Her eyes shifted towards Mia, curiosity and worry mingling in her mind about what might have transpired.

At that moment, Mia let her phone slip from her ear, her lips parted ever so slightly, as if she was stunned by the news she had just received.

Mina, sensing the urgency in the air, asked with a note of anxiety in her voice, "Mia, what happened?" Her eyes met Mia’s, seeking answers in the silence that enveloped them.

"Aunt, I really need to go now," Mia said hastily.

In the blink of an eye, she had already grabbed her jacket from the hanger in the room, leaving Mina puzzled and trying to figure out what could have possibly happened to make her leave so abruptly.

"How many more minutes before I need to appear in court?" Vixen inquired, his eyes fixed downward as he absentmindedly toyed with his nails.

He then lifted his head to look at Matthew, who was sitting on the couch across from him, accompanied by the sheriff handling his case.

Matthew lifted his hand to glance at his wristwatch before speaking, "It’ll be about two hours," he remarked.

Just then, the door swung open, drawing their attention as they turned to see John entering the room.

"I trust I’m not late?" John said as he approached their gathering.

"You’re not too late, actually. I can’t quite explain it, but I feel a sense of excitement about today. Have you had a chance to speak with that man’s attorney?" Vixen inquired.

"Yes, indeed. I was just returning from meeting with him. The attorney mentioned that he would handle any complications that might arise, ensuring the man can be included in the case we’re managing."

"How is his other case progressing?" Matthew interjected, breaking the silence.

John shifted his eyes towards Matthew, a smirk forming on his lips. "In fact, that particular case should be much easier to manage," he replied.

However, his expression soon changed to a frown, indicating he was troubled by something.

"Is there an issue?" the sheriff inquired, concern evident in his voice.

"Sir, are you absolutely certain that every single one of your team members is informed about this situation involving Mr. Vixen?" John inquired with a straightforward tone.

"Not every single one, but a significant number of them are aware of the ongoing developments. Has anything significant occurred?"

"No, it doesn’t relate to that. I’m just ensuring that we are thoroughly safeguarded in our actions," John clarified.

"Could you elaborate on what you mean by that?" Vixen asked with curiosity.

"We really want to have this guy supporting us, but don’t you ever get the sense that somehow, right before the hearing of this case, Mia might discover what’s going on?"

Matthew asked, "And what happens if she does find out?"

"Numerous factors could be influencing her actions. She may be attempting to prevent the man from arriving at the courthouse, and there remains uncertainty regarding whether this individual might resort to drastic measures, such as harming himself, due to his unwavering allegiance to Mia," John elaborated.

"Well, you have a point there, but I highly doubt that individual would ever entertain the idea of harming himself. He takes pleasure in being the one who deals out death to others, yet from my observations, he doesn’t harbor any affection for death itself. So, believe me when I say, he wouldn’t have any desire to meet his own end," Vixen remarked with a mocking tone.

"Alright, in that case, perhaps we ought to get ready for our next plan just in case anything unexpected happens," Matthew suggested. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"I think you’re correct," Vixen agreed.
