Married To The Dragon Prince Against My Will-Chapter 208: TAKE THEM AWAY
Lumina could no longer sit still. Her body trembled with restlessness as she paced the length of her chamber. The soft rustle of her gown brushed against the marble floor, but even that quiet sound grated against her nerves.
Her heart had been uneasy for hours, as though something inside her kept reeling her in, something was wrong.
She had tried calling upon her aunt several times, but there had been no response. Seraphina was never this silent.
Lumina turned toward the door again, her gaze anxious. "I don’t have a good feeling, Stella," she murmured. "Something feels wrong. I need to see Ashen."
Stella, tried to soothe her. "My lady, His Highness can take care of himself. He’s strong, you know that. Whatever happens, he will overcome it. Please, rest your mind."
But before Lumina could reply, a sound like thunder shattered the night.
It was deep and piercing and that roar was so fierce that the walls quaked under its might.
The ground trembled beneath their feet, and for a second, silence fell before another roar echoed, louder and closer this time.
"What... what was that?" Lumina whispered, clutching her chest.
Stella’s face had drained of all color. Her wide eyes darted toward the window. "That sound..." she breathed, running to pull back the curtains. Her breath hitched as a vast shadow swept across the sky, wings beating against the heavens with earth-shaking power.
"The dragons," she whispered, her voice trembling. "They are awake."
Lumina’s knees gave out, and she sank to the floor in disbelief. "No... it can’t be... The dragons... they were sealed. They shouldn’t be flying."
Outside, the realm erupted in chaos. Cries and shouts rose from the streets as firelight streaked across the night sky.
"They have returned! The dragons have returned!" the people screamed, their voices a mixture of awe and terror.
"If the dragons are awake," Lumina whispered, clutching Stella’s arm, "something must have happened to Ashen."
Stella shook her head in denial, but her trembling hands betrayed her. "No, my lady... no, it can’t be..."
Without another word, Lumina ran for the door, her heart pounding wildly. But as soon as she reached it, two guards blocked her path. "You can’t leave, my lady," one said sternly.
"I need to see the prince!" Lumina demanded, trying to push past them.
Before they could answer, another roar split the sky. Flames swept across the palace grounds, licking the air with crimson heat.
The guards raised their shields, and in the confusion, one shoved Lumina aside. She fell hard onto her knees, a sharp cry escaping her lips.
"How dare you touch my lady!" Stella’s voice rang out like steel.
She lunged forward and the guards barely had time to react before Stella grabbed one by the arm and twisted sharply, sending his sword clattering to the floor.
The second swung at her, but she ducked, her movements swift and fluid. She kicked out, striking his knee before spinning and driving her elbow into his chest. The guard stumbled backward, gasping. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Their blades clashed, the sound echoing through the corridor like thunder. Stella moved fast deflecting attacks, her eyes burning with fury.
She dodged a strike and swept one guard off his feet. Another tried to grab her from behind, but she slammed her fist into his jaw.
After a few more blows, both guards were left groaning on the ground, defeated and breathless.
Stella rushed back to Lumina, helping her up. "Are you hurt?"
Lumina shook her head, but her legs felt weak. A sudden wave of dizziness struck her, her limbs heavy. "I... can’t move properly," she murmured.
Stella’s eyes widened. "The poison... it must be affecting you again. Take the antidote His Highness sent earlier."
She grabbed the small bottle from the table and pressed it to Lumina’s lips. Lumina drank it quickly, gasping as warmth spread through her veins.
But before she could recover fully, another roar split the heavens louder, longer, and filled with anguish and all of a sudden everywhere turned silent.
Lumina pressed a trembling hand to her chest. The bond that connected her to Ashen pulsed faintly... then faded.
"Something’s wrong," she whispered again. "I can feel it. Ashen..."
Stella took her hand. "We need to go. Whatever it is, we will find out."
They hurried to the palace, Servants ran past, whispers of "the king," "the dragons," and "the fall of the realm" hanging in the air.
Rhynera appeared at the corridor’s end, her hair disheveled, her face pale.
"Sister! What’s happening? The dragons... why are they roaring?"
Lumina didn’t answer. She brushed past her, "Where’s the king?" she demanded as they reached the royal court.
Nobles could only stand in silent clusters, their eyes wide with fear. Lumina’s heart sank as she realized something terrible had happened.
"Take me to the king’s chambers," she ordered Stella, but before she could enter, the guards stepped in front of her.
"You cannot go in, my lady," one said.
Lumina’s brows furrowed. "What do you mean I can’t..."
"Arrest them!"
The command echoed, interrupting her and everyone turned to see Queen
Sephora stood at the far end of the corridor, her face cold as ice, her eyes blazing with fury. "Seize the traitors! Don’t let them move an inch!"
"Your Highness?" Lumina gasped, stunned. "What are you talking about?"
"Make sure they suffer," Sephora hissed. "They are the reason the king lies at death’s door!"
"What?" Stella shouted, stepping protectively in front of Lumina. "My lady hasn’t even seen the king tonight! How could you accuse her..."
But before Stella could finish, Lord Drex appeared beside the queen, his expression grim.
"Lord Drex," Lumina called, desperate. "Please, tell me what’s going on!" She asked feeling his presence.
He avoided her gaze. "My lady... the king collapsed moments ago. The incense you forbade him to use was keeping his life steady. You told him to stop and now his body has failed."
Lumina’s eyes widened, disbelief clouding her voice. "That incense was poisoned! I stopped him because it was harming him! You can’t mean to say..."
"I am sorry," Drex muttered, bowing his head. "But that is what the court believes."
Queen Sephora’s voice rose like a whip. "You heard him! The evidence is clear. You and your cursed bloodline have brought ruin to this realm!"
"I don’t understand!" Lumina cried, "Where is my husband? Where is Ashen?"
"That’s none of your concern! You will be imprisoned and tried for treason, both you and your sister!"
Rhynera stepped forward, eyes wide. "Mother! You can’t do this! I am the Crown Princess..."
"Silence!" Sephora’s words sliced through the hall. "You will share her fate. I should have known your loyalty would waver."
Rhynera froze, betrayal flashing in her eyes. "You are framing us," she whispered. Sephora smiled coldly.
"Explain that to the king when he survives!" Lumina was weak, she only wanted to see her husband. What exactly happened tonight? Why isn’t he anywhere close by?
"Take them away." Queen Sephora’s voice echoed again.
