Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 167: The treacherous four
Sage held her breath, clutching the nine-tailed fox, as she realized Cyrus had been watching her through Snowflake’s eyes since Darren first appeared beside her in the mansion.
Could he have seen her memories as well? Why did she have the impression that he was aware of her memories?
She tilted her head to the side, thinking hard in panic about what was going on with Cyrus and what he was going to do to Darren once he got a hold of him.
She took a deep breath and shook her head, her heart clenched, and, thankfully, none of the memories she and Darren had shared in the past flashed through her mind. It was almost as if they had been erased.
She finally looked at Darren, who was lost in thought, and noticed the fresh burn on the side of his cheek.
Lianna... She was aware of Darren’s obsession with her and had given him the beer, but she did not tell him to ràpe her.
Sage’s lips twitched and she turned away from Darren, not even looking into his dead eyes.
"You look.."
"I told you not to bother me." Sage interrupted him with a deep sigh. She didn’t want to talk to him, but she was worried about his safety because Cyrus...
"I apologize." Darren let out a long, sorry sigh, and the carriage came to a halt.
Sage moved closer to the door, ignoring Darren, and it immediately opened, revealing Freya. Snowflake, who had been sleeping, fluttered his sliver eyes open lazily.
"We are below the mountain, my queen," Freya reported as she moved away, allowing Sage to exit the carriage freely.
It was dangerously cold, the wind was stronger, and they hadn’t even reached the top of the mountain!
Suddenly, she became aware of something... no! There were two types of magic hovering in the air, but she couldn’t tell which was which or whether it was dark magic, light magic, or both.
Darren exited the carriage without taking his gaze away from Sage, who was looking around, and Arthur arrived on the scene with his usual bright smile.
"He should summon the earth mages right now." He said, his smile fading as he moved his gaze to Darren, who was still staring at Sage.
"Yes." Sage awoke from her reverie and looked at Darren, who immediately took a deep breath.
Sage exclaimed as his dead eyes turned crystal blue and smaller than Katherine’s.
Four grey-hooded people rushed to the scene, and Sage slammed her palm against Darren’s forehead, her widened eyes flamed up brightly, and her lips parted shakingly.
"It is not possible..." At the end, her voice shook, and the nine-tailed fox in her arm jumped off, glaring at Darren, then at her.
Darren screamed in agony, his voice echoing almost indefinitely, and his blue eyes returned to their dead state.
Everyone in the room gasped when Sage finally removed her palm from his forehead and took a few steps away from him, and Darren collapsed to the ground, trying to catch his breath.
"You. really. want. to. kill. me." He spoke to each other in between heaving breaths.
The shock in Sage’s eyes was unseen, but she shrugged and turned her attention to the earth mages present.
"Take off your hoods." They immediately removed their hoods after she said so authoritatively. There are three men and one woman present.
Sage didn’t seem surprised by them because she was well acquainted with them. Back in Credia, they were known as the treacherous four. Friends from childhood like she, Katherine, and Darren, but like their names ’The treacherous four,’ they always caused commotion wherever they went, they were power hungry because they all came from wealthy families and rude bullies who always picked on she, Katherine and Darren.
Jovan, Alistair, Lohan, and Roselle were all dangerously beautiful with similar forest green eyes. But except for Roselle who had long wavy dirty blonde hair, the men all had light brown hair. They almost looked like siblings, but they were simply earth mages who were extremely close.
"Why in hell are we here?" Jovan, who had the largest build, questioned Darren arrogantly.
"Tell her about the other mages." Darren, who was no longer in excruciating pain, spoke stiffly.
"And why is this so? Just because she hasn’t been killed by the ice dragon and believes she is superior to everyone, as she has always believed?" Roselle scoffed and rolled her eyes in disbelief.
Sage inhaled deeply. "You four are unchanging. I am curious how you and Darren became so close that you taught him spells." She turned to face Arthur, who bowed his head at her, moved away and transformed into his dragon form then glared at the treacherous four murderously.
"On the mountain, there is a portal." Alistair unexpectedly said, and he looked at Sage as if he was stunned and trying to recover.
Sage smiled as he turned to face him. "Thank you very much, Alistair." She then took Snowflake into her arms, and the four were taken aback by the guardian beast.
"Is that...?" Lohan wanted to scream.
"A Guardian Beast?!" Jovan was taken aback.
"Do not speak to the queen without respect, or else you will face death, so keep your mouths shut if you love your lives." Freya warned them sternly, wrath emanating from her that stunned the four.
"Freya, hurry up." Sage told Freya, who gave her a faint smile.
She jumped onto Arthur’s back, and Freya quickly followed.
"If you want, you can meet us at the top." Sage told them curtly, without looking at any of them, and Arthur took off immediately.
Roselle bit her lip and clenched her fists while Alistair helped Darren to his feet.
"How come you told her that?" With a deep threatening growl, Jovan asked Alistair.
"Because it appears she already has an idea." Alistair responded unconcerned.
"What exactly is going on?" Lohan inquired, his gaze drawn to Darren, who was still nursing his freshly burned cheek. "And how did your cheek end up like that?" He asked, slightly surprised.
"She wishes to unravel the mystery of the mages." Darren responded.
Deep lines of worry appeared on Alistair’s brow immediately, while Jovan facepalmed himself.
"What on earth is going on?" He was ecstatic. "There is no longer any hope for us mages, and she is already..."
"Shut up and fuck off." Jovan was yelled at by Lohan. "I believe there is hope for us, and if she is looking for the mysteries surrounding the mages, it means she believes there is hope for us as well." As Sage’s face flashed through his mind, he spoke with a determined smile.
"Well, Katherine might have an idea... after all, she did teach us some spells, she has so many secrets, and she has never informed us about anything before we were kicked out." Roselle mumbled and regarded Lohan with suspicion.
"Yes, where is Katherine?" Alistair asked eagerly.
Darren inhaled deeply. "She lost her memories."
