Chapter 173: Queen

Cyrus quickly covered Sage’s eyes with his hands before anyone noticed her lifeless eyes. He knew the mages must have already been aware of the statkus mages, and if they knew they were statkus mages in the land of the sea of blood, powerful ones who wanted Sage’s fire core without hesitation, they would most likely all go extinct.

He smirked at the thought, picturing them all freaking out and stabbing themselves.

"Pathetic." That was all he said to the mages’ ears, and they all stood there confused.

Sage simply stood motionless as Cyrus’ palm on her face began to glow, preventing statkus mages from entering her mind. Because she was weak in the land of the sea of blood for some unknown reason, they found it easy to control her. Cyrus was confident that he would discover the reason soon.

"Hmm.." Tamara whimpered, indicating that she was awakening.

"Where is the mother of this child?" Cyrus continued to hold the child in his arms, her head resting on his shoulder.

"That is Diana’s kid." One of the mages revealed.

"Tamara?" A deep voice in the crowd, shocked, inquired.

A path was cleared among the mages, and a blonde handsome man walked out, followed by six more young mages. His blue eyes was identical to Tamara’s, and when he saw the little girl in the arms of the ice dragon, he frowned deeply.

"She is alive, so mother is not." With a deep growl, he said.

"Kion, stay calm; there isn’t a scratch on her body." A petite black-haired girl with dark blue orbs whispered to him, soothing him.

Cyrus’ eyes widened at that particular girl, the way she held Kion’s arm and looked at him; she had feelings for him, but he wasn’t focusing his gaze on her because of that; he was focusing his gaze on her because he knew her and she wasn’t a mage.

"Penelope." Cyrus called in hushed tones.

Kion’s eyes widened as did the girl’s.

"How did you get my name?!" She exclaimed in surprise.

Tamara whimpered and opened her eyes, rubbing them with her small hands. "I am starving." She addressed Cyrus, who had turned his gaze to her.

Sage, on the other hand, had regained her senses. She grabbed Cyrus’ wrist, and he took his hand away from her face, her eyes emerald and clear. She recognized the blonde mage when she saw the group of young mages.

"Kion!" She smiled as she called, and he moved his gaze to her, his eyes widening in surprise.

She wanted to take a step forward, but she sensed a threatening aura emanating from Cyrus, and when she looked at him, she saw those blue slit eyes flash with a jealous glint.

She grinned. "Your punishment begins immediately, my dear husband." She spoke to him, then frowned and walked over to the mages.

"Our home has been destroyed, and we have enemies everywhere, but we cannot let our ignorance and so-called hatred drive us extinct. We must rebuild our home, this time as a large and powerful nation that will keep us strong for future generations to remember. I am sure you are all aware that our elder mages were destroyed by statkus mages and that traitors have been ruling us all this time, but we can’t let that happen again." Sage spoke with zeal and optimism. She was relieved to see that the mages were all calmer, kept their mouths shut, and listened to her. She took a deep breath, hoping that once they were out of the land of the sea of blood, the mages would have a fresh start.

"We understand, but princess, you are married to one of those threats." Kion spoke first, and it was clear that he despised Cyrus, who couldn’t care less.

"If you are curious, my mother was exiled by my grandfather because she fell in love with a dragon, and I’d appreciate it if you didn’t refer to my husband as a threat, especially while I am here with him." Sage spoke as calmly as she could, but everyone in the room could sense her rage.

As he began to stroke little Tamara’s hair, Cyrus smiled in amusement, a little flustered by Sage.

"You... You are the offspring of a dragon and a mage?" It was Valerie, Katherine’s mother, who asked with a gasp. Her crystal blue eyes revealed everything, and the resemblance was uncanny.

"Yes." Sage responded with a deep sigh. "Nevertheless, I intend to rebuild Credia to its former glory, with or without your assistance, because I Sage Dragos will not compel anyone." She added firmly. She wasn’t going to let anyone, not even Cyrus, stop her from rebuilding Credia.

Valerie immediately kneeled and bowed her head. "My queen," she said unexpectedly.

"W.." Sage was taken aback.

Kion, Penelope, and everyone else went on their knees and bowed their heads, as did the other mages and all the children present. "My queen. All hail Queen Sage Dragos!" Everyone chanted.

Sage was taken aback because she had not expected to be pronnouced queen so quickly. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she held them back, smiling brightly and turning her gaze to Cyrus, who was unfazed, his gaze fixed on her. He nodded, letting her know he was proud of her, and she smiled back, warming his heart.

She returned her gaze to the kneeling mages and smiled brightly. "It is an honor to be your queen." She muttered. "Rise." She added, and they did.

Kion approached her and smiled warmly. "I am glad you are alive." He explained.

"You were concerned?" Sage enquired.

"Sage, I attended your unexpected wedding, and as for Darren... I haven’t seen him since the day of your wedding." Kion expressed his curiosity.

"He is... still alive." Sage was hesitant to respond.

"I have no idea what is going on. Katherine arrived in Credia and informed the mages that we were ruled by traitors. Julius wanted to sell us all to the firerian dragons. We had to leave quickly, and Katherine went missing for a while. When she returned, she was acting strangely, and she led us to Leimpia and summoned the portal to the land of the sea of blood." He elaborated.

"You have all been here since then." Sage moved her eyes thoughtfully as she whispered.

Katherine’s brief disappearance indicated that she had encountered Inkadon.

"She discovered some books, and we discovered how the elder mages died at the hands of the statkus mages... they were ancient books of spells that we used to learn different types of magic that we never imagined our elements could do." Kion chimed in, and Sage exhaled.

"I desperately need to recover her memories." Sage let out a frustrated sigh.

"What?" Kion was perplexed.

Sage told him everything that had happened to Katherine, and he was astounded.

"Controlled to kill you?" In disbelief, he inquired. "And how about Darren?" He inquired once more. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Sage told him everything that had happened to Darren, and before reacting, Kion looked at Cyrus, who was speaking to Tamara with a serious expression on his face, and she was listening intently.

"Potions? He is not your typical ice dragon." He whispered and nodded slowly to Sage.

She told him everything about Lianna, Julius, and Dexter, as well as the statkus mages who were after her fire core, which also served as her life force.

Kion was taken aback because he had not expected such intense information. "I can’t take it all in." He said this tensely, with beads of sweat on his brow.

"Take your time when we leave here." Sage said with a smirk.

Kion was a friend to her, and though they weren’t particularly close, they had known each other since childhood, had gone on patrols together most of the time, and he was someone she saw almost every day.

He nodded slowly in response to her statement. "After my mother and I had a big fight, Mother and Tamara wandered away due to hunger." He started.

"You assumed they were dead." Sage spoke slowly.

"I guess mother is... given Tamara’s pale complexion, she must have been terrified." Kion said this with a tense voice and a regretful expression.

"How come you didn’t go look for them?" Sage inquired, perplexed.

"Penny was sick," Kion responded hesitantly.

"Penny?" Sage was perplexed.

"She... When we left Credia, I found her wounded in the forest." Kion responded with a slight smile.

"Where?" Sage inquired, and her gaze held dark blue orbs of harsh intensity towards her, similar to Cyrus’s to Kion at the time. "She is not a mage." Sage looked at Kion, who smiled, and whispered.

"She is a shadow dragon."

"What?!" Sage exclaimed in hushed tones.

"Don’t give it much thought. She is a friend, not a foe." Sage nodded as he spoke confidently.

"We should all leave right away before..." Sage immediately came to a halt, not wanting to inform Kion that statkus mages existed in the land of the sea of blood.

"Everyone gather around!. Kion declared, and mutters and murmurs filled the air.

Penny approached Kion, while Sage returned to Cyrus.

"You should be a good girl, but you should also understand that crying will not solve anything." Cyrus spoke to Tamara, who pursed her lips and slowly nodded.

"Wrong advice for such a little girl." Sage scoffed in shock.

Cyrus smirked and wanted to say something, but he swallowed his words as he sensed an approaching force.

"Hey!" He yelled at Kion, who had turned his gaze to him.

Cyrus threw Tamara to him like she was a piece of paper, and Kion caught her, stunned.

Cyrus blasted the crowd of mages with a bright sapphire glow that blew them all away, leaving behind little glows of various colors.

He collapsed to his knees, exhausted from using his powers on so many people at once.

"Cyrus?!" Sage gasped in surprise and grabbed him. "What did you do?" She came to a complete halt.

"Fire mage..."

Her eyes went dead, just like the statkus mages’.
