Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 116: Let’s Get a Divorce (Part 2)
Seraphina Thorne lifted her right hand to smooth her unruly hair, slowly stood up, and returned to the lounge to pack the broken violin into its case.
She draped her coat over her shoulders, grabbed her bag, and with a heavy heart, carried her violin out of the lounge.
After working hard for so long, she finally made it to the finals.
And the result?
She ended up breaking her violin right before the finals.
It must be fate, she was destined to miss out on these finals.
Whether it was seven years ago, or seven years later.
Her steps were heavy as she walked down the backstage steps.
Below the steps, the audience was flocking to The Golden Hall to watch the competition.
Only Seraphina, like a fish swimming against the current.
"Seraphina?" Ferris Caldwell, emerging from a taxi, smiled and walked towards her, "The competition is about to start, and yet here you are, casually strolling by the roadside. Aren’t you too relaxed as a contestant?"
Seraphina smiled bitterly, "I’m not relaxed, I’m withdrawing."
"Withdrawing?" Ferris stopped in his tracks, "Why?"
Seraphina raised her right hand holding the violin, "My violin is broken."
"Don’t you have a spare violin?"
Seraphina shook her head.
Ferris glanced at his watch, "Don’t worry, I’ll think of something right away."
"Thank you, but it’s no use, there’s not enough time. The shops here close early, even if I went to buy a violin now, I wouldn’t make it."
"How do you know if you don’t try?" Ferris held her arm, "You get ready backstage, I’ll go find a friend to borrow a violin for you."
He turned and hurried to the roadside.
"Dr. Caldwell..."
Seraphina wanted to stop him, but Ferris had already flagged down a taxi.
Sitting in the back seat, Ferris waved at her from afar.
"Go prepare quickly, I’ll be back as soon as I can!"
The taxi sped away.
Watching the car disappear, Seraphina reflexively reached into her pocket, only to remember she didn’t bring her phone.
She stood by the roadside for a while, hesitated, then turned back to the backstage of the music hall.
Soon, applause echoed in the music hall.
The contestants, with their violins, gathered at the backstage entrance to prepare. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
In the lounge, only Seraphina remained.
Aware the competition was about to start, Seraphina looked at her number tag on the table and sighed lightly.
Someone pushed open the lounge door.
A staff member stepped inside, "Excuse me, is Miss Thorne here?"
Seraphina stood uncertainly, "I’m Seraphina Thorne, what is it?"
"A gentleman asked me to give this to you."
The staff approached, handing over a large rectangular box.
Seraphina took the box with both hands, carefully opened the ribbon, and lifted the lid.
Inside was a violin case.
With a surprised look, Seraphina opened the case’s cover, stunned at the violin inside.
The dark brown case held new, gleaming violin strings.
The bow was strung with new white horsehair, with traces of rosin still visible.
Ferris Caldwell actually found her a violin so quickly?
But...
This violin looked so familiar.
A staff member jogged in, pushing open the door.
"Is the contestant number 9 here?"
"Coming." Seraphina, quickly grabbing the violin, hurried over, "That’s me!"
"Quickly, it’s almost your turn to play."
"Okay."
Seraphina quickly walked to the backstage entrance, rapidly adjusting the strings.
On the stage, the host had already announced her name in English.
"The next player is Miss Seraphina Thorne from the Eastern Ancient Country, let’s welcome contestant number 9 to the stage."
Seraphina calmed her mind and, amidst applause from the audience and judges, walked onto the stage.
She bent to bow, gave a brief self-introduction, then raised the violin to her shoulder.
She lifted her gaze, scanning the audience below, a sea of darkness.
Seraphina took a deep breath, lowered her eyelashes, summoned her emotions, and began her performance.
The bow slid across the strings, echoing sweet music throughout the hall.
Completely absorbed in the music, Seraphina on stage forgot everything.
Ethan Sterling.
The troubling family matters.
The emotions that tormented her.
...
She cast everything aside, pouring all her heart and soul into the performance.
Her fingers danced with agility and grace over the bow, captivating the ears of the judges and audience completely.
Below the stage.
Ethan Sterling sat in the audience, gazing intently at the figure on the stage.
Seraphina on stage wore a red dress, her hair and dress flowing gracefully with her movements, transporting him back in time.
The first day he saw her, she was standing on stage, wearing a red dress.
Her violin and she herself were both breathtakingly beautiful.
The piece ended.
Thunderous applause filled the hall.
The judges began scoring, and Seraphina won the championship with a score of 99.
The chairman of the competition committee personally awarded her, placing the glittering trophy in her hands.
Holding the trophy, Seraphina listened to the applause below, feeling a rush of emotion.
Seven years had passed.
She finally stood on the stage of The Golden Hall, conquering it with music.
Applause, flowers, trophies...
At this moment, Seraphina was the undisputed star of the stage.
The audience surged forward, offering flowers.
Reporters gathered around, capturing her every movement, and extended microphones, eager to interview.
"Miss Thorne, as far as I know, you reached the finals seven years ago but withdrew before the finals. You only returned to the finals stage seven years later; is there any special reason?"
"At this moment, who do you most want to share this news with?"
...
Seraphina held the trophy, habitually touching her left ring finger.
If it weren’t for Ethan Sterling, she might not have ever joined this competition again.
A few days ago, Ethan Sterling discussed with her.
If she won an award, she must have a good drink with him to celebrate.
But unfortunately...
Now that she had the trophy, he would not be the one to celebrate with her.
"I’m sorry."
She nodded to the reporters but declined further interviews, turning and leaving the stage.
Watching her leave the stage, Ethan Sterling stood up from the audience and hurried toward the exit to chase her backstage.
Previously, he always thought.
If he took his time, she would gradually accept him.
When that time came, he would tell her the truth, and it wouldn’t be too late.
But his secretiveness led to many misunderstandings.
This time, he was determined to reveal the entire truth to her.
He wanted to tell her he had been in love with her for seven years.
He also wanted to tell her everything he had done was for her.
...
He dashed through the corridor, racing backstage.
Fixing his gaze on the figure not far ahead, Ethan Sterling stopped, took a deep breath, ready to call her name.
Ferris Caldwell, drenched in sweat, ran past him in the corridor.
"Seraphina!"
Seraphina paused, turned her head.
Seeing Ferris Caldwell, she immediately showed a grateful smile.
"Dr. Caldwell, thank you so much this time."
Seeing the trophy in her hand, Ferris Caldwell was stunned.
"My gosh, you won?"
"Yes."
"That’s fantastic, congratulations, congratulations. I was so worried, thinking I might have delayed your competition, thankfully I didn’t." With hands on his knees, Ferris panted heavily and straightened up, "How about we go out for a drink and celebrate well."
In the corridor, Ethan Sterling approached with a sullen expression.
"No need, I already made plans for my wife."
