Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 67: The Girl Before Her... Looks So Much Like Her!
Upon seeing Adrian Chamberlain, Seraphina Thorne stepped back warily.
"This area is under surveillance, you’d better not try anything!"
"Seraphina, you don’t have to be so afraid of me!" Adrian Chamberlain lowered his eyelashes, looking remorseful. "Don’t misunderstand, I’ve come to apologize to you."
Apologize?
Seraphina sneered.
"Because the Donovan Family no longer acknowledges you as a son-in-law, right?"
"Seraphina, you misunderstand. I never liked Diane Dawson in the first place, that was all my parents’ idea." Adrian Chamberlain extended his right hand holding a paper bag. "These are gifts I prepared for Caleb Thorne, all of his favorite foods and some thermal underwear. Can you give them to him for me?"
He was the one who sent Caleb to prison, and now he’s pretending to be a good person?
Looking at Adrian Chamberlain in front of her, Seraphina felt as nauseated as if she had seen a fly on her favorite cake.
"Whatever my brother needs, I’ll buy for him myself. We don’t need your fake kindness!"
She bypassed Adrian Chamberlain and walked away briskly.
"Seraphina!" Adrian Chamberlain rushed over and knelt in front of her with a thud. "I know, it was my fault, I deserve to die..."
Grabbing Seraphina’s hand, Adrian Chamberlain forcefully slapped it across his own face.
"Seraphina, hit me, scold me... as long as it makes you happy, you can do whatever you like! That night, I really didn’t do it on purpose, I was just... too drunk and confused..."
"Get lost!"
Seraphina remained unmoved, pulling her hand back with force, and walked quickly to her car.
"Seraphina!" Adrian Chamberlain stood up, "Don’t you want to help Caleb overturn his case?"
At the mention of her brother’s name, Seraphina stopped in her tracks.
Adrian Chamberlain saw her hesitation and pursued her with a gesture of goodwill.
"Seraphina, I’m serious, I really want to reconcile with you like before."
For the sake of her brother Caleb, Seraphina suppressed the nausea in her heart.
"Do you have evidence?"
"Of course, that project was handled by both Caleb and me. I made copies of all the design drawings and the material orders. Last night, I organized them specifically. I have enough evidence to prove that this issue was due to construction problems, having nothing to do with Caleb." Adrian Chamberlain raised his hand to grip her shoulder, "Seraphina, as long as you come back to me, I’m willing to do anything for you!"
Seraphina raised her hand and shook off his grip.
"How do I know you’re not lying to me?"
Adrian Chamberlain reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a data sheet with his right hand.
"This is the list of suppliers for the Zenith Apartments project, take a look and see for yourself."
Seraphina snatched it and glanced at the data sheet.
Sure enough, it listed information on several suppliers.
Observing Seraphina’s expression, Adrian Chamberlain took a step closer with a smile.
"Seraphina, can you trust me now?"
"Just because of this thin piece of paper, you want me to believe you?" Seraphina scoffed, "Do you take me for a fool?"
"This is just one piece, representing my sincerity." Adrian Chamberlain saw that she seemed a bit swayed and quickly stated, "As long as you agree to divorce Ethan Sterling and transfer Zenith’s shares to me, I can give you all the information I’ve gathered."
"So it’s still all about Zenith’s shares, not about me at all!"
"No, Seraphina." Adrian Chamberlain grabbed her arms with a face full of emotion, "I’m truly trying to help you. I was foolish before, but now I understand that only you truly care about me."
"Unfortunately, you’ve realized it too late."
Clutching the data sheet tightly, Seraphina quickly returned to her car and got into the driver’s seat.
"Seraphina!" Adrian Chamberlain chased beside the car, "Give me another chance. This time I’ll prove to you that I’m different from Ethan Sterling. He’s just using you, but I’m the one who truly loves you!"
Seraphina ignored him and started the car to leave.
Adrian Chamberlain grabbed the door handle but couldn’t open the car door.
Seraphina gently pressed on the gas pedal, and the car drove straight out of the parking spot.
Seeing she was really going to leave, Adrian Chamberlain rushed over and spread his arms in front of the car.
Seraphina hurriedly stepped on the brakes, narrowly avoiding hitting him.
"Move!"
"You think Ethan Sterling truly cares about you? He’s just using you..." Adrian Chamberlain raised his voice, "Do you know why Vice Mayor Donovan sided with him?"
Seraphina looked at him through the car window.
"Why?"
"Because he threatened Felicity Shaw by handing over a video of me to Vice Mayor Donovan." Adrian Chamberlain sneered, "Didn’t expect your current husband to be so despicable, did you? If he really cared for you, he should have handed the evidence to the police to get justice for you. But... he didn’t, because he truly doesn’t care about your feelings. All he wants is Zenith Group!"
Seraphina sat in the driver’s seat in silence.
No wonder after that night, Felicity Shaw hadn’t attended a single performance.
No wonder Felicity Shaw hadn’t appeared at the orchestra ever since that day.
So it was...
Ethan Sterling!
He was helping her seek revenge in his own way.
Unaware of Seraphina’s thoughts, Adrian Chamberlain believed his instigations were taking effect.
He walked to the driver’s side and continued pledging loyalty.
"But don’t you worry, I’ve already made Felicity Shaw pay the price, she won’t ever appear in front of you again. Seraphina, now you understand who truly cares about you, right?"
Seraphina rolled down the window, staring coldly at Adrian Chamberlain outside.
"Do you know why Ethan Sterling didn’t call the police?"
"Of course." Adrian Chamberlain sneered, "That’s because he doesn’t care about you at all; he’s just after his own goals."
"Someone like you would never understand." Seraphina laughed in anger, "Ethan Sterling didn’t call the police because he knows what’s truly protecting me!"
Adrian Chamberlain was stunned.
Not wanting to see his nauseating face any longer, Seraphina accelerated and drove out of the parking lot.
Driving far away from the prison, confirming that Adrian Chamberlain wouldn’t come out chasing her anymore.
Seraphina parked the car by the roadside, took out that data sheet from her coat pocket, and carefully examined it.
The night after Caleb was taken away by the police for investigation following the building collapse.
The "Zenith Apartments" project department caught fire, burning all the computers and paper documents to ashes.
Ultimately, the police only found Caleb’s design drawings, coupled with Adrian Chamberlain and others’ testimonies, proving problems with Caleb’s design.
Caleb was unable to defend himself and was forced to bear all the blame.
Later, Seraphina tried all kinds of methods to help her brother find evidence but to no avail.
If these documents were real, if she could find all of them...
Then it could prove that the building collapse was due to construction issues, not Caleb’s design. Caleb’s case could then be overturned.
Thinking of this possibility, Seraphina hurriedly grabbed her phone and dialed Ethan Sterling’s number.
At this point, Ethan Sterling was the person she trusted the most.
The call was quickly connected, with Ethan Sterling’s voice teasingly cheerful.
"What, after just a few hours apart, miss me already, my darling wife?"
Seraphina didn’t have time for banter, "Where are you, are you at the company or Zenith, I have something I want to discuss with you in person."
"Uh..." Ethan Sterling hesitated for a moment, "I’m out right now, not very convenient. How about we talk tonight when we get home, okay?"
Knowing how busy he was, Seraphina didn’t ask further.
"Okay, let’s talk at home tonight then."
Just after hanging up, Seraphina found Nathan Foster’s number and called him.
"I just got out of prison, my brother has signed the contract, when would it be convenient for me to bring it to you?"
"Your call couldn’t have come at a better time. I was just talking about you with my sister!" Nathan Foster’s voice was filled with a smile, "We’re out right now; how about this... let’s have lunch together, and I introduce you two?"
"Great, I have something I’d like to discuss with you as well. See you at lunch!"
Seraphina hung up the phone and drove back to work at the orchestra.
At noon, she arrived punctually at a traditional roast duck restaurant on the second ring, following the address Nathan Foster had given her.
Heading upstairs to the private room, Seraphina knocked on the door.
The door of the private room was opened from the inside, revealing a smiling girl’s face.
The moment she took a clear look, Seraphina froze in shock.
The girl in front of her, and she...
Looked so alike!
