Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 78: Things Are Different Now—I’m Married
Hearing the word "love," Seraphina was momentarily stunned.
If someone had asked her this question before today, she could have said "no" without hesitation.
But now, she opened her mouth and hesitated.
"Cece!"
Ethan Sterling’s voice came from not far away.
Both of them turned their faces, only to see he had already walked into the living room.
Chloe’s eyes flashed with panic as she hurriedly released Seraphina’s arm.
"Ethan, what’s up?"
Ethan Sterling...
Wasn’t he calling her?
Seraphina was taken aback.
Suddenly, she realized Chloe was also called "Cece."
"Oh!" Ethan shrugged, "Do you have any noodles at home? I want to cook a bowl."
"Of course." Chloe smiled and walked over, leading him to the kitchen and taking out a bag of noodles from the refrigerator, "The udon you love the most."
Ethan stood behind her, glanced at the refrigerator, and reached for tomatoes and eggs.
Seraphina was about to walk over to help, but Chloe had already gone over to assist.
"I’ll help you. Remember to cook a bowl for me as well. I haven’t had your tomato and egg noodles in a long time. My brother’s cooking doesn’t compare to yours."
A man and a woman stood at the counter, the atmosphere relaxed and delightful.
Seraphina pressed her lips together and turned to walk out of the living room.
Ethan finished washing his hands and looked toward the kitchen door.
Not seeing Seraphina, his brows furrowed slightly.
"Well... it’s washed." Chloe handed him the washed tomatoes, "What else do you need?"
"Nothing." Ethan took the knife, "You can go out and wait."
"It’s okay, I’ll keep you company." Chloe stood beside him, smiling warmly, her eyes full of Ethan, "If you need anything, I can find it for you."
Ethan raised his head and looked out of the kitchen window towards the garden.
"I don’t want Seraphina to misunderstand."
"But..." Chloe handed him an apron, "we were always like this before, and..."
Ethan raised his right hand, grabbing the apron from her hand.
Turning his face, his tone was serious.
"Now is different from before, I am married."
His gaze swept over the ring on his left hand, gripping the apron.
Chloe bit her lower lip, turned, and ran out of the kitchen, heading upstairs.
Ethan exhaled lightly, put on the apron, and focused on cooking.
In the garden.
Seraphina sat on a chair, glancing toward the kitchen.
Blinds covered the kitchen windows, and from her perspective, she couldn’t clearly see everything inside.
However, she could imagine.
The man and woman in the kitchen must be chatting happily, cooking their favorite tomato and egg noodles.
She had been with Ethan for so long, yet he had never cooked noodles for her.
"Seraphina?" Across from her, Nathan raised his voice, "What are you thinking about?"
"Oh, nothing." Seraphina smiled evasively, "Have you and Ethan known each other for a long time?"
"Well... about ten years."
Nathan sipped his champagne, recalling past events with a tinge of lingering emotion.
"Back then, Chloe was just a teenager, got in trouble... When I arrived, Ethan was covered in blood, it terrified me..."
Seraphina asked with concern, "Was he injured?"
"On his waist..." Nathan gestured to his side ribs, "He was stabbed, but fortunately, he was fine, otherwise... my sister and I could never have peace."
In Seraphina’s mind flashed the scar on Ethan’s waist.
So, that scar was left from saving Chloe.
"Later, I found out he was an exchange student at the same school as me." Nathan chuckled, "Speaking of it, it’s kind of fate. We never met in the same city, only got acquainted abroad."
At this point, Nathan paused.
He looked at Seraphina intently for a moment, then smiled slightly.
"Ethan is a good man, you’re lucky."
Seraphina lowered her head, pretending to drink juice, and remained silent.
If such a man truly liked her, she would certainly be lucky.
Unfortunately...
She wasn’t that person.
"The noodles are ready!"
Ethan came out carrying the bowl of cooked noodles, glancing at Chloe’s empty chair.
He smiled and placed the first bowl in front of Seraphina.
"Here, my wife, try my cooking."
This was the first time he called her "wife" tonight, in Chloe’s absence.
Seraphina looked at the fragrant noodles in front of her. Though her stomach was empty with hunger, she had no appetite.
"Where’s Chloe?"
"Chloe’s not feeling well; she must be tired and went upstairs to rest." Nathan glanced at the second-floor bedroom, "Let’s eat, don’t mind her."
Forcing herself, Seraphina took a few bites of the noodles and then put down her chopsticks. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"I’m a bit tired too, shall we go back?"
After saying their farewells to Nathan, they got into the car for the return journey.
Seraphina’s stomach continued to ache as she stared at the road ahead, trying to focus on driving.
Ethan sat in the passenger seat, tinkering with an unlit cigarette in his fingers.
Only when they returned to The Paramount Gardens apartment did he put the cigarette back in his pocket.
Stepping forward, he embraced Seraphina’s waist from behind.
"Jealous?"
Seraphina smiled faintly.
"Jealous of whom?"
Ethan turned his face to observe her expression.
The girl was scarcely smiling, her expression equally faint.
She seemingly didn’t care about him and Chloe, so it seemed he’d overthought things.
Ethan breathed a quiet sigh of relief and bent to kiss the top of her head.
"I noticed you didn’t eat much at dinner, would you like... your husband to make you something good, perhaps chocolate milk?"
"No need." Seraphina smiled as she declined, "I have registered for a violin competition, so I want to practice for a bit."
"Is that so?" Ethan smiled, "Then... good luck, my wife!"
"I might be late, don’t wait up for me."
Smiling at him, Seraphina took her violin case and entered the music room.
After closing the door, she opened the case and took out her violin.
In her ears, Ethan’s voice echoed once again.
"Jealous?"
Seraphina’s hand tightened around the bow, her heart thudding heavily.
Only at this moment did she finally realize what those inexplicable emotions were.
That’s right!
She was jealous.
She was envious.
She was angry.
She wasn’t as calm as she imagined.
She was constantly bothered by Ethan and Chloe’s interactions.
She thought she could guard her heart, never to be moved by anyone again.
But she was wrong, she had overestimated herself.
She...
She had really fallen for Ethan!
