Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 85: An Innocent Flower Like You Can’t Compete with Her
Backstage lounge.
Ivy Langley placed the violin she was holding onto the dressing table.
She turned her face and glanced at Julia Chamberlain, who was sitting on the other side.
"Seraphina, you better be careful with those two scum mother and daughter. Watch out for their dirty tricks."
"I know."
Seraphina Thorne took out her phone, checked the time, and dialed the pianist’s number.
The official competition was divided into two sessions.
The first session was a performance with the orchestra, and the second session was a performance with the pianist.
Considering various factors like different styles of each musician and usual practice times.
The competition did not provide pianists, so all musicians had to find their own pianist to collaborate with.
The pianist Seraphina found was introduced by a classmate, a student from the piano department of the music academy.
The call was made and quickly answered.
"Senior Thorne, don’t worry, I’m already on the way and will be there soon."
"Good, just come backstage directly to find me then. See you in a bit."
Seraphina hung up the phone and immediately retrieved her makeup kit.
"Let me!" Ivy Langley proactively took her makeup kit, "Today, I’ll make you look stunning, guaranteed to amaze everyone on stage!"
"It’s not a beauty pageant?"
"You don’t understand, in this era, appearance is important no matter what you do."
...
As they chatted, Chloe Foster had already walked into the lounge with several staff members.
She distributed the water and food prepared by the committee to everyone, personally taking two bottles of water and a small paper bag to Seraphina’s dressing table.
"My brother is on a business trip and couldn’t make it; he specially asked me to bring you a box of victory cake, wishing you good luck."
"Thank you!" Seraphina stood up, thanked her, and accepted it, "Let me introduce you, this is Attorney Foster’s sister, Chloe Foster. This is my friend, Ivy Langley, who works at Nathan’s law firm."
Chloe Foster smiled and shook hands with Ivy Langley, "Miss Langley, right? I often hear my brother mention you, saying you are very capable."
Ivy Langley waved her hand with a smile, "I’m not, Attorney Foster overpraises me."
"Not at all, I’m just telling the truth." Chloe Foster glanced around, "Didn’t Ethan Sterling come to watch your competition?"
"Oh..." Seraphina smiled, "He’s been on a business trip these days."
"A business trip? That’s unlike him, I clearly..." Chloe Foster stopped halfway, then smiled, "I have other matters to attend to, so I won’t disturb you. Good luck."
Seraphina lowered her eyelashes.
Just as she expected, Ethan Sterling was probably with Chloe Foster these days.
Seeing her, Julia Chamberlain quickly stood up to greet Chloe Foster.
"Miss Foster..."
"Alright, I won’t waste the contestants’ time." Chloe Foster interrupted with a smile, glancing around the room, "Good luck everyone, I hope you all get great results."
She smiled at Julia Chamberlain and then turned to leave the lounge.
Seraphina sat back in front of the dressing table and combed her long hair.
Ivy Langley took her comb and glanced at Chloe Foster’s departing back.
"How does she know Julia Chamberlain too?"
"She’s a volunteer for the competition, so all the contestants definitely know her!" Seraphina said casually.
"Is that so." Ivy Langley frowned slightly, "But why do I feel...this Miss Foster looks so familiar?"
"Don’t you think she looks a lot like me?" Seraphina asked.
Ivy Langley looked at Seraphina, suddenly realizing.
"I must say, you two do look quite similar, but..." Ivy Langley turned her face towards the exit direction, "I always feel...this girl seems a bit pretentious. Attorney Foster and I are not even familiar, how could he praise me at home."
Seraphina showed little interest, "She’s just being polite, don’t take it seriously."
"That’s not what I mean..." Ivy Langley shook her head, "In short... I don’t like her, she gives off a green tea vibe. She also knows Ethan Sterling?"
"Ethan and Nathan Foster have been very good friends for over ten years, they grew up together abroad."
"No wonder!" Ivy Langley held onto Seraphina’s shoulders, "You have to be careful, this one looks like a high-level green tea, someone as straightforward as you won’t stand a chance against her!"
Seraphina looked at her reflection in the mirror, remaining silent.
"Attention all contestants." A staff member walked in, clapping hands, "Just a reminder, the competition will start in ten minutes. Contestants, please keep an eye on your number badges and schedule, don’t miss your performance."
Ivy Langley pulled Seraphina up from the chair, carefully inspecting her and tidying her long hair, revealing a satisfied smile.
"Done, I’ll be waiting for you at the competition venue."
Ivy Langley grabbed her bag, waved her right fist at Seraphina, and made a cheering gesture.
"Go Seraphina, Seraphina will win!"
Seraphina laughed and gave her a nudge, "Alright, you go on ahead!"
The contestants left the lounge together to prepare at the backstage entrance.
In another lounge, Claire Clayton quickly walked over to stands by Seraphina as soon as she saw her.
"I’m the first to go on stage, so nervous."
"That’s normal, during my first performance, my legs were shaking. But, I have a secret tip..."
"What secret, tell me quickly."
"I’ll tell you!" Seraphina lowered her voice, "Just imagine all the judges and audience as beets."
Claire Clayton burst into laughter, "You’re kidding, right?"
"First contestant, Claire Clayton, please take the stage!"
The host’s voice echoed from the speakers.
Claire Clayton’s smile faded immediately, and her breathing became anxious with nerves.
Seraphina helped straighten her clothes and saw her off to the backstage entry.
"Good luck!"
Claire Clayton took a deep breath and walked onto the stage.
She glanced sideways towards the entrance.
Seraphina, raising her arms, formed the shape of a beet in the air.
Claire Clayton’s lips twitched, and her tension melted away significantly.
Taking a deep breath, she lifted the violin to her shoulder.
Being the first to go on, she felt somewhat anxious.
However, thanks to Seraphina’s help, Claire Clayton performed well and scored 93 in the first round in collaboration with the orchestra.
After the judges announced the score, Claire Clayton maintained composure and bowed before leaving the stage.
Backstage, she immediately excitedly grabbed onto Seraphina’s arm.
"93 points, oh my god, I never thought I could get over 90, I thought I might not even pass." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
According to competition rules, anyone scoring less than 90 in the first round with the orchestra would be directly eliminated and disqualified from participating in the second round piano concerto.
For Claire Clayton, who was entering the finals for the first time, it was already a pleasantly surprising achievement.
"Hmph!" Julia Chamberlain scoffed nearby, "Barely qualified, what’s there to be proud of?"
"Ignore her." Seraphina took Claire Clayton’s arm, "Focus on preparing for the next round!"
"Okay." Claire Clayton nodded with a smile, "You too, make sure you beat that trashy girl."
"Who are you calling a trashy girl?" Julia Chamberlain heard and asked displeasedly.
Claire Clayton rolled her eyes, "I wasn’t talking about you, why so tense, unless...you’ve always known you’re trash?"
