Chapter 124: No More Alliances!

Sitting on the edge of her couch, staring at Elias with a slightly open mouth, Eira was shaking her head.

The worn photo he handed her shook slightly in her trembling hands.

It was old and yellowed with time, but the image was unmistakable.

A younger version of Marion cradled two children—an infant Eira and a little boy with dark hair and blue eyes.

Elias’ eyes.

"You expect me to believe this?" Eira whispered. "You show up now? With this? After everything?"

Elias leaned forward, calm but insistent.

"I’ve waited for the right moment, Eira. If I came to you earlier, you wouldn’t have believed me. You were under Callian’s shadow, just like the rest of them."

Her eyes darted back to the photo before throwing it onto the coffee table.

"And I’m supposed to believe you now? After everyone in my life has lied to me? Betrayed me?"

Elias didn’t flinch.

"I’m not here to betray you. I’m here to set things right. We have the same enemy, Eira. Henry. Beatrice. They’ve taken everything from us. Liam, our mothers, your life, my life—they’re behind it all."

"Don’t you dare use Liam’s name," Eira snapped, standing abruptly.

Her voice cracked under the pain. "I don’t need another person telling me what to do or dragging me into the war. I fight alone now."

Elias stood too, his expression softened.

"I’m not asking you to fight for me, Eira. I’m asking you to fight for yourself. For your baby. If we don’t stop them, they’ll never leave you in peace."

Eira laughed bitterly, pacing the small room.

"Peace? Do you think I’ve ever known peace? I’ve fought every single day of my life—for my safety, for my sanity. I can’t trust anyone. Not Callian, not Vanessa, not Henry. And now you show up with your stories, expecting me to just... trust you?"

Elias sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I don’t blame you for doubting me. But you’ve seen their evil, Eira. You know what they’re capable of. You can keep fighting alone, but you can’t win alone. Not against them."

Eira stopped pacing and stared at him, her eyes narrowed.

"I’ve been alone for as long as I can remember, Elias. And guess what? I’m still standing. If you want to fight Henry and Beatrice, fine. But don’t think for one second I’ll rely on you—or anyone else—to fix this."

Her words stung, but Elias didn’t show it.

He reached into his coat and pulled out a USB drive, placing it on the coffee table beside the photo.

"This has everything you need to know. Proof of their crimes, their lies, their plans. Use it however you want. Or don’t. But don’t say I didn’t try to help."

Eira looked at the drive, but she didn’t move to take it. "Why now? Why tell me all this now?"

"Because you’re stronger now," Elias said simply.

"Stronger than they ever wanted you to be. And because you deserve the truth, no matter what you decide to do with it."

"Get out."

Elias hesitated, searching her face for any sign of doubt or hesitation.

But all he saw was pain buried under layers of hardened life.

"Eira—"

"I said get out," she repeated, her voice sharper this time.

Elias nodded slowly, picking up the photo but leaving the USB drive.

"I’ll be around if you need me. You know where to find me."

Without another word, he left, the door clicking shut behind him.

Meanwhile, Outside the Apartment

Callian sat in his car, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly.

From his vantage point, he could see Eira’s window.

She was walking inside, her silhouette illuminated by the dim light of the small apartment.

His phone buzzed. A text from Mita.

"You’re doing well. Keep it up, and she’ll stay safe."

Callian exhaled shakily, his jaw tightening.

He wanted to storm upstairs, to tell Eira the truth, to beg her to forgive him.

But the thought of that sniper and the danger it posed to her and their unborn child kept him rooted to the seat.

"I’m sorry," he whispered to himself.

At the Blackwood Estate

Beatrice slammed the newspaper onto the dining table.

"She’s still in the spotlight. Can you believe it? The little nobody who thinks she can escape me."

Vanessa sat across from her, stirring her coffee with feigned disinterest.

"You’re the one who brought her into the spotlight, Mother. Your obsession with Eira is exhausting."

"Watch your tone," Beatrice snapped. "If I didn’t pull you back into this family, you’d be on the streets like her."

Vanessa smirked but said nothing, sipping her coffee.

Beatrice turned to her assistant. "Call Mita. If Eira thinks she can rise above this, she’s sorely mistaken. It’s time to remind her where she belongs."

Later That Night, Callian’s Home

Callian walked into the living room, his steps heavy with exhaustion.

Leina was there, waiting for him with open arms.

"You did the right thing," she said softly, embracing him tightly.

Callian didn’t hug her back. His arms hung limply at his sides, his expression blank.

"You’re protecting her," Leina continued, pulling back to look at him. "That’s all that matters."

Callian nodded once but didn’t respond.

From the corner of the room, Mita entered, her phone in hand.

"We need to announce the engagement more publicly. The media is already circling, and it’s better to control the narrative."

Callian didn’t even glance at her.

He looked at his father, who stood quietly in the doorway, watching him.

"Do whatever you want," Callian said flatly, brushing past her toward his study.

Inside the Study

Callian sank into his chair, his head in his hands.

Leonardo entered, closing the door softly behind him.

"I saw your face, son," his father said gently. "You’re in pain."

Callian looked up, his eyes hollow. "It doesn’t matter."

"It does," his father insisted, sitting across from him. "I know that pain. I lived it."

Callian frowned. "What are you talking about?"
