Marrying My Father's Enemy-Chapter 143: A Scene
Chapter 143: A Scene
Chapter 141: A Scene
The soft chime of the entrance bell rang through the room as Callian stepped into the store.
The low conversations instantly quieted, and all eyes turned toward him.
He looked perfectly in his tailored suit, only making his commanding attitude more striking.
Eira, who had been speaking with one of the investors near the display wall, froze.
Her breath caught in her throat as his eyes found hers across the room.
The warmth in them was unmistakable, softening his usually sharp jaw.
He walked toward her without hesitation, going through the crowd with a confidence that turned heads.
Guests murmured to one another, curious and intrigued.
"Callian," Eira said softly as he reached her, her cheeks flushing.
He didn’t say a word.
Instead, he cupped her face gently, his fingers cooled against her skin, and leaned in, pressing his lips to hers.
Gasps rippled through the room like a wave.
Eira went blank as she let herself melt into the kiss, his touch grounding her.
When he finally pulled back, his hand touched her cheek, his lips formed into a kind smile.
"Congratulations, Eira," he said quietly, his voice just for her.
She blinked, her heart pounding in her chest. "Callian..."
The silence in the room was deafening. No one dared speak, but the stares were louder than words.
Mia, standing by the champagne table, dropped her glass with a soft clink against the floor.
"Did that just...?" she whispered, her voice trailing off.
Elias, leaning casually against the wall, raised an eyebrow. "Well, that’s one way to make an entrance," he muttered, amused.
Even Vanessa, standing awkwardly near the tree, looked stunned.
She opened her mouth to say something but thought better of it, her gaze darting between Callian and Eira.
Eira finally stepped back, her fingers brushing her lips as she tried to gather her thoughts.
"You didn’t have to do that in front of everyone," she said, her voice low.
"I wanted to," Callian replied simply. "I don’t care what they think."
Before Eira could respond, the sharp screech of tires outside broke the moment.
The glass doors burst open, and Mita stormed in, her heels clicked angrily against the polished floor.
The atmosphere in the room doubled instantly.
"Mita," Callian’s tone suddenly shifted to a calm warning.
"Don’t you Mita me!" she snapped, her voice sliced through the stunned silence.
Her perfectly styled hair swayed as she marched toward them.
"What the hell are you doing here? And her?"
She jabbed a manicured finger in Eira’s direction, her eyes blazed from the flames.
Callian turned to face her fully. "Calm down, Mita."
"Calm down?" she hissed, her voice rising. "Do you have any idea what you’re doing? You’re ruining everything! You don’t even understand who you’re messing with!"
Eira stepped closer, her hands balling into fists. "What are you talking about?"
Mita whirled on her... "Oh, don’t act clueless, Eira. You think you’ve won because Callian’s here, kissing you like some lovesick fool? You don’t know what you’re dealing with."
A Growing Threat
"Mita, stop," Callian said firmly, stepping in front of Eira. "You’re making a scene."
"Oh, I’m making a scene?" Mita sneered, throwing her arms out.
"You’re standing here like everything’s fine, like this little fantasy of yours isn’t going to come crashing down the moment the right people get involved."
Callian’s jaw tightened. "What do you mean by ’the right people’?"
Mita smiled darkly, her anger shifting into something colder.
"You think your money and power can protect you? That she—" she motioned toward Eira with disgust, "—is worth risking everything for? You don’t even see what’s coming."
"Mita," Callian said slowly, his tone low and dangerous. "This isn’t a threat you want to make."
"Oh, it’s not a threat," Mita shot back. "It’s a promise. I warned you, Callian. I told you not to get involved with her, but you didn’t listen. Now, you’ve dragged her into something she can’t handle."
Eira stepped forward despite Callian’s attempt to stop her.
"Dragged me into what?" she demanded, despite the anger starting to come out from beneath it.
Mita’s smile widened, "You’ll find out soon enough. When everything falls apart, don’t say I didn’t warn you."
"That’s enough," Callian said sharply, his voice cut through the tension like a blade.
Mita blinked, startled by the sudden steel in his tone.
"I’ve let you run your mouth long enough," he continued, stepping closer to her.
"You’ve made your threats, thrown your tantrum. Now leave. This is Eira’s day, and I won’t let you ruin it."
Mita’s face twisted with rage. "You’re making the biggest mistake of your life, Callian."
"No," he said firmly. "The only mistake I made was letting you think you had power over me."
The room held its breath as the two of them stared each other down.
Finally, Mita scoffed, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
"Fine," she said, her voice was full of disdain. "But don’t come crying to me when it all comes crashing down."
She turned on her heel and stormed out, the echo of her heels faded into the snowy night.
"Well," Elias said finally, breaking the silence. "That was... dramatic."
Callian turned back to Eira, his eyes softening again. "Are you alright?"
Eira nodded slowly, though she was thinking about something else.
"Callian....? What was she talking about?"
He hesitated for a moment, running a hand through his hair. "She’s a problem. But not one I need to worry about right now."
Eira frowned, her arms crossed together. "It sounded like more than a problem."
"It’s nothing I can’t handle," Callian said. "Let’s focus on you and your success today."
Eira wanted to press him further, but something in his tone made her stop.
She nodded slowly, still looking at the door where Mita had disappeared.
"Fine," she said quietly. "But I don’t want her anywhere near me again."
"She won’t be," Callian promised, his hand brushing against hers.
For now, she let herself believe him.
When Mita stormed out of the store, her breath was caught in the cold air as the snow fell softly around her.
Her feet clicked angrily against the sidewalk as she walked toward a black SUV idling at the curb.
The passenger door swung open, and Konrad stepped out.
He looked nothing like the sharp, confident man he once was.
His eyes were bloodshot, dark circles etched beneath them like bruises.
His clothes hung loosely on his frame, as if he had lost weight, and his face was gaunt with exhaustion.
"Mita," he said gruffly in a strained voice. "What did you find out?"
"She’s in there," Mita spat..."Eira, surrounded by her success, everyone fawning over her like she’s some queen. It’s disgusting."
Konrad’s jaw tightened, his fists clenching at his sides.
"Of course she is. She took everything from me—my money, my connections, my reputation—and now she’s in there celebrating?"
His voice rose, filled with anger. "While I’m out here with nothing?"
Mita’s lips curled into a smile. "It doesn’t have to stay that way."
Konrad narrowed his eyes, "What are you saying?"
She reached into her coat and pulled out a thick envelope, shoving it into his hands.
"This is your chance to take back what’s yours."
Konrad opened the envelope, his tired eyes scanning the wad of cash inside.
He let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. "Money? You think money’s going to fix this?"
"No," Mita replied. "But it’s a start. Use it however you need. Make her regret everything. Make her pay for what she’s done to you."
Konrad stared at the envelope, his hand trembled slightly as he gripped it.
He started thinking of the memories of the life he once had—the respect, the power, the way people used to treat him.
And now? He was nothing. Eira had taken everything and left him to rot.
"You’re right," he muttered, his voice dark. "She deserves to pay. They all do."
Mita tilted her head, her smile widened. "Good. I thought you’d see it my way."
Konrad stuffed the envelope into his pocket and motioned toward the SUV.
The tinted windows rolled down, revealing three men inside.
"Let’s go," Konrad barked, his voice commanded for the first time in weeks.
The gangsters stepped out of the car, their presence seemed heavy and menacing.
One of them nodded toward Konrad. "What’s the plan, boss?"
Konrad gestured toward the glowing store, his jaw set.
"We’re going to send a message. Surround the building. Block every exit. No one gets in or out."
The men nodded, moving carefully as they began spreading out around the store.
Mita leaned against the SUV, her arms crossed as she watched with satisfaction.
"This will be the night she remembers," Konrad said under his breath, looking at the store like a predator stalking its prey.
The Trap was Set...
Inside the shop, the guests continued to mingle, unaware of the threat brewing outside.
Snow fell, blanketing the cars and sidewalks, muffling the sounds of the city.
But outside, the atmosphere was tense.
The gangsters moved into position, standing at strategic points around the shop.
Their hands shoved into their coat pockets as they exchanged glances, waiting for Konrad’s signal.
Mita stepped closer to Konrad. "You’re sure about this?"
She asked...but she already knew the answer herself.
He didn’t look at her, he looked at the glowing windows of the shop. "She took everything from me. Now I’ll take it back."
Mita smirked, satisfied. "Then let’s make it count."
The last of the gangsters took their position, forming a silent ring around the building.
Konrad’s eyes gleamed from light as he stood by the SUV, the envelope of cash was visible in his pocket.
"Let’s begin," he said softly, the snow continuing to fall as the trap closed around Eira’s celebration.
"I’m gonna kill that bitch."
