Martial Arts Worlds-Chapter 315: One-Versus-One
"What?! Why the hell did Tiamut get disqualified? Zachary clearly used excessive force!"
Jonathan cried out in the locker room.
"Ariadne broke rules and attacked Zachary outside the official match. That is a rule break, and since a similar thing already happened between Kiernan and Zachary, they're enforcing these rules with an iron fist from now on."
Coach Jin said with a serious look on his face.
He didn't like what he was seeing on the television, and it honestly made him scared for the safety of his students.
It was clear that Zachary didn't care whether he was hurting his opponents and seemed to get pleasure from doing so.
"We're against Montclair High, then…"
Julia said with a worried tone.
She didn't want her friends to fight Zachary, as he was far too aggressive and ruthless.
At that moment, the door of the locker room opened with a creak, and Dominic, who had just returned from the infirmary, walked inside, looking sullen.
"Dominic… How are you faring?"
Coach Jin asked with a sympathetic look.
"Fine… I suppose. So, we're against Montclair High."
Dominic got seated and briefly congratulated Kiernan for his victory.
"Yes. The match will be in two hours to also give Montclair High some resting time so we'll be in equal condition for the finals."
Coach Jin said, and then motioned for everyone to sit closer so he could share the game plan.
He pulled out a clipboard and started scribbling things down.
Everyone looked at the clipboard.
"As we already know, Zachary will be their first fighter. Therefore, Dominic and Jonathan, you must focus your energy on injuring him.
"Run around the circles if you have to so that his stamina runs out. Your job is to help Kiernan as much as possible!"
Jonathan and Dominic nodded.
"Kiernan… Your fight against Zachary doesn't decide the match. Once you've defeated him, you'll have to face Montclair High's last two fighters.
"If you're too injured after your fight with Zachary, you can still lose, so keep that in mind when you're fighting him."
Coach Jin said with a serious look.
Kiernan crossed his legs, looked at the ceiling with a thoughtful look, and then shrugged his shoulders before saying.
"Yeah… no. This plan doesn't cut it."
"Eh?"
Coach Jin and the rest looked baffled at his words.
"…"
Sabbath looked from the sidelines with a slight smile on his face. It was as if he knew what his disciple was planning to do.
"I'd like to challenge Montclair High to a special match. One-versus-one between Zachary and me. One match to decide the championship."

Kiernan said.
"What?!"
They screamed in shock.
"That's…"
Cold sweat dripped down Coach Jin's forehead, and he quickly used a napkin to wipe it all off.
"You think they would accept that…? Mateo and Lazaro are their other main fighters, who are stronger than Jonathan and Dominic. It wouldn't make sense for them to bet it all on one match since they have the advantage."
"Oh, they will."
Kiernan said with a smile.
"They're tired of waiting, anyways. No offense, but Zachary doesn't give a fuck about Jonathan and Dominic. He wants to prove he's the best by destroying me, so I am giving him the chance to do that.
"With a one-versus-one match, we'll see who is really the best.
"If we go with your plan, Zachary will most likely use Jonathan and Dominic to try to shake my mental state. While he is completely deranged, he also likes to inflict mental damage on his opponents.
"So I bet he'll try to break me down psychologically by basically torturing Jonathan and Dominic. It won't work, though, as I am not such a simple-minded fighter that I'll let such things affect me, but he will try."
Coach Jin nodded at Kiernan's words and turned to look at the rest of the members of the team.
It was easy for him to tell that Jonathan and Dominic didn't want to fight Zachary.
While still trying to look tough, Jonathan's eyes had slightly moistened at the thought of having to fight that monster.
Dominic, on the other hand, had lost his fighting spirit after his decisive loss against Kurogami High.
"But… Kiernan, if you lose the one-versus-one, you'll be solely blamed for the loss. Are you sure you want to experience that?"
Julia asked with a frown.
She knew how crazy the fans could be, and she had seen riots spark up in different corners of the planet after their team lost a tournament.
People took these tournaments, despite this being only at the high school level, very seriously.
"I don't care what other people think. Coach, please send the special match request."
Kiernan then looked at his coach with determination in his eyes.
"Very well…"
Coach Jin pulled out his phone from his pocket and sent a special match request to the tournament organizers.
…
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Alabaster took out his phone and checked the message.
When he saw its contents, his eyebrow jumped in surprise, and before replying to the message, he pocketed his phone and looked at the people in the locker room.
It was silent as no one dared to speak, and Zachary was just having a quick nap, which was the reason no one dared to speak, as they didn't want to wake him up.
"Wake up, Zachary!"
Alabaster screamed.
"Ah?"
Zachary jolted awake, sat straight immediately, and turned to look at his coach.
"Karuza High sent us a special match request. One-versus-one match."
"Ah?"
Zachary blinked in surprise.
"One-versus-one match? They're afraid that they cannot defeat us in a normal match!"
"Yeah, why should we accept that request when we can just crush them all?"
"SILENCE!"
Alabaster suddenly screamed and silenced the loud-mouthed students.
"I don't care what you trash think. Zachary, what do you think?"
"Hah, I'd love to accept that shit. Let's do it.
Zachary said with a grin.
"Mm… this works well for you. Once you defeat him in a one-versus-one match in front of the entire nation, there won't be a single person who doubts your strength as the strongest high schooler!"
Alabaster said, pulled out his phone, and swiftly accepted the challenge.
