Marvel : I'm in Westview Town-Chapter 148
Chapter 148 - 148
-
"It's so hot here."
This time, Wanda was genuinely shocked. Now she fully understood why those demonic entities were so desperate to claim such power.
If even a fragment of this energy fell into their hands, the consequences would be catastrophic.
No wonder they fought so relentlessly.
"Yes," Brice said, his tone turning serious. "The temperature here rivals the heat of a thousand suns. A mere fraction of this power could incinerate entire worlds, so be cautious."
Gone was his previous casual demeanor. Now, he looked as solemn as the old patriarch himself.
Even the Angels, beings of celestial energy, dared not underestimate this force.
After all, even their divine heritage had its limits.
"We'll keep that in mind," Finn nodded.
"The energy radiating from it is terrifying," Peter Parker muttered, rubbing his arms. He had never felt anything like this—not even when he fought alongside the Avengers against cosmic threats.
"Old patriarch," the Scarlet Witch spoke, her voice edged with curiosity. "If this beam's energy is so destructive, how have the demons managed to absorb it?"
Even standing at a distance, she could feel the oppressive force emanating from it.
And yet, those creatures had repeatedly risked their existence to seize it.
Why?
"Because demons wield a powerful dark force," the old patriarch explained grimly. "If they can breach our defenses, they use that darkness to corrupt and convert this energy into something they can absorb."
His voice carried the weight of past failures.
It was clear he had seen such attempts before—perhaps even lost allies to them.
"So that's how they do it?" Wanda frowned.
What kind of darkness could nullify such overwhelming light?
She didn't fully understand—but something about it unsettled her.
"That's why your assistance was invaluable," the patriarch continued, gratitude lacing his tone. "If not for your intervention, our people might have suffered an unimaginable fate."
He sighed deeply, as if the very thought weighed on his soul.
Had Finn and the others not acted, the Angels might not have survived.
"Don't mention it," Finn said dismissively, though his gaze remained locked on the beam. "But I have to ask—do you have a way to control this energy? Because if it gets out of hand, we might be looking at a multiversal disaster."
He wasn't exaggerating.
Even standing here, he could tell that this force—if left unchecked—could unravel reality itself.
And if those demons kept trying to seize it, something catastrophic was bound to happen.
"Yes," the patriarch nodded firmly. "We have safeguards in place. We would never allow this power to spiral out of control."
His conviction was clear.
For them, protecting their homeland was more than just a duty—it was survival.
Time passed.
The golden glow of the celestial sun dimmed slightly as the day waned, casting long shadows over the sacred ground.
After their visit to the beam, the patriarch excused himself, stating that there were matters requiring his attention. frёewebηovel.cѳm
He instructed Brice to continue showing them around.
Finn and the others didn't mind.
Aside from the beam of light, they had yet to see the other wonders of this realm.
As the tour continued...
They explored nearly every corner of the Angelic stronghold. But after hours of walking, fatigue set in.
"You guys keep going," Stephen Strange said, stretching his arms. "I'm heading back to rest."
The old patriarch had already arranged accommodations for them. Whenever they needed food or sleep, everything would be taken care of.
"I'll join you," Peter added. "No offense, but I'd rather not third-wheel any potential 'magic bonding moments' between you guys."
With that, the two left, their figures disappearing into the glowing pathways.
As the sun dipped lower, only three figures remained on the bridge.
Finn stood at the center, flanked by Wanda and her alternate self—the Dark Witch.
"What about you two?" he asked, glancing between them.
"We're definitely staying," the Scarlet Witch answered, looping her arm through his without hesitation.
The Dark Witch hesitated for a moment, then sighed.
"What are you waiting for?" Wanda said impatiently, grabbing her other self by the wrist and pulling her close.
At that moment, the awkward tension between the three of them dissipated.
"Come on," Finn said with a smile.
Encouraged by his words, the Dark Witch finally relaxed.
And just like that, on the dimly lit celestial bridge, the trio strolled forward at a leisurely pace, their figures illuminated by the distant glow of the beam.
There were no battles to fight.
No worlds to save.
Just this moment.
"Finn, do you think those demons will return?" Wanda suddenly asked, her tone betraying her concern.
She knew all too well what would happen if this place fell.
If the demons succeeded in claiming the beam's energy, they wouldn't stop here. They would spread their corruption outward—across dimensions, across universes.
The devastation would be unimaginable.
"I don't know," Finn admitted. "But if they do, we'll fight them. This concerns all of us now. And more importantly..."
He exhaled, looking up at the sky.
"I'm not about to let them turn Westview into rubble."
That place mattered to him.
It was where he had shared some of his most precious moments with Wanda.
Letting the demons destroy it wasn't an option.
"You're right," the Dark Witch agreed. "Besides, we've been through so much already. We've grown stronger than before. Dealing with them should be easier next time."
Her words carried a confidence born from experience.
They had faced these creatures before—and won.
Next time, they would simply do the same.
And this time, they wouldn't leave a single one standing.
