Chapter 57 - 57 : Dr Strange
Big brother, I'm afraid."
The young Josie in Finn's arms curled up, her immature face full of fear.
"Don't worry."
Finn's voice was calm, reassuring. He raised his head, looking directly at the swooping Apostle Carat. There was no fear on his face—just a disdainful smirk at the corner of his mouth.
"A fool who doesn't understand his own limits."
Apostle Carat sneered, the black mist surrounding him swirling ominously.
Whoosh!!!
The black mist condensed into massive, winged creatures—shadows stretching across the hall like a descending storm. The enormous wings flapped, sending chilling gusts through the air.
Wrapped in darkness, Carat extended his arm, mirroring the movement of his summoned bats. He reached out suddenly—grabbing Finn in an iron grip and lifting him high.
Jimmy Woo and Monica barely had time to react. Their eyes shot up to the black mass above, watching as the bat carried Finn to the highest point of the hall, looming over the chaos below.
"Let go of Finn!"
A streak of red light shot toward where Finn had stood moments ago.

Wanda Maximoff's usual cold composure was gone. Her jewel-like eyes shimmered with something rare—fear.
"Let him go. Now."
Her breath quickened, scarlet energy crackling from her fingers and pooling in her eyes. The air itself seemed to warp, reality bending under the weight of her raw emotion.
"Haha! You're scared!" Carat laughed wildly from above. His pale face twisted with amusement.
"Why are you afraid? You wield the most powerful magic in existence, yet you waste it, hiding away in a small town, pretending to be normal!"
His voice turned sharp, derisive. "How pathetic. It would be far more fitting to sacrifice that Chaos Magic to the Supreme Lord Mephisto."
Carat's voice echoed through the grand hall.
"Wanda, don't listen to him! He's nothing but a parasite!"
Finn's voice rang out from above.
"Shut up."
Carat's expression darkened. He was surprised at the unwavering defiance of this mortal. A blade of dark energy materialized in his left hand, its tip pressing against Finn's throat.
"Bravery means nothing without power."
Finn's voice remained steady. "Then it's a good thing I have both."
Carat sneered, but his amusement quickly faded. He turned his focus back to Wanda.
"You have one minute to offer yourself at the altar," he commanded, gesturing toward the stone pillars in the center of the hall. "Or when the time is up, his head will roll."
He swung his sword, sending a pulse of black energy rippling through the air. The wails of trapped souls echoed through the chamber, their tortured cries filling the space with dread.
Wanda's hands trembled. She stared up at Finn, her mind clouded with helplessness and guilt. She had caused this. If she hadn't brought him here, none of this would have happened.
"Don't waste time," Carat warned. "There are two more sorcerers outside."
Finn, noticing Wanda's shaking hands, felt something cold settle within him. His previously indifferent gaze turned sharp.
Behind his back, energy began to gather.
Chaos Magic. Dark and potent.
A spell straight from the Darkhold.
He had studied it just last night, memorizing its incantations. The spell was designed for close combat—too dangerous for long-range attacks. That was why he had waited.
He had been waiting for Carat to get close.
"Heh. Soon, you'll belong to Mephisto."
Carat's grin widened.
He didn't realize those words had sealed his fate.
"Josie, close your ears."
Finn's voice was firm.
Josie nodded without hesitation.
Buzz! Buzz!
A dense sphere of Chaos energy ignited in Finn's palm. Without hesitation, he swung his arm, hurling it directly at Carat's face.
The impact was immediate.
A violent tremor shook the hall, warping the space itself.
Jimmy Woo, in the middle of reloading his gun, froze. His mouth fell open as he stared at the display of raw power. "How the hell does he know magic?! Wanda, did you teach him?!"
For a moment, he felt utterly ridiculous. He had spent so much time arguing that Finn was a liability, a normal human who would only get in the way.
And now, this.
"Are you kidding me?!"
Jimmy felt his brain short-circuit. Finn had been pretending all along?
Wanda, meanwhile, stood completely still, her eyes locked on Finn. She recognized the energy instantly.
The Darkhold's power.
And it was far stronger than yesterday.
Above them—
"FUCK!"
Carat's smug expression twisted in terror as the sphere of Chaos energy struck him.
He desperately folded his bat's wings around himself, trying to shield against the explosion.
Boom!!!
The impact shattered the darkness.
The blast sent shockwaves through the hall, rattling its very foundations. Dust and debris rained from above, filling the space with choking clouds.
Bang!
A massive stone pillar cracked, then collapsed entirely.
"Everyone, take cover!"
Jimmy Woo barely had time to shout before a gust of force sent him flying. He landed hard, eating a mouthful of dirt.
"Oh god. I don't want to die in another dimension."
On the other side of the hall—
Wanda gasped as she was flung back. Scarlet energy flared to protect her, but the sheer force of the blast sent her crashing into the ground. The impact cracked the stone floor beneath her, fissures spreading like spiderwebs.
The space around them began to warp, breaking apart. The entire dimension was collapsing.
"This place is falling apart!"
The thought barely formed in Wanda's mind before another force slammed into her, sending her skidding across the floor.
Everything blurred.
And then, darkness.
—
At that moment, the grand doors of the hall burst open.
Bang!
"Wong, I was right. Mephisto's Apostles always hide in pocket dimensions."
Two figures in cloaks strode inside.
"Call me Sorcerer Supreme," Wong corrected, clearly irritated.
Whoosh!
A blast of wind and dust hit them in the face, forcing them to pause.
"Cough—Cough!" Strange grimaced. "I have a bad feeling about this."
Wong waved his hand, golden light dispelling the debris. His sharp eyes took in the chaos around them—the wrecked hall, the unstable space, and, most importantly, the two figures still locked in battle above.
Finn.
And Apostle Carat.
But something made Strange narrow his eyes.
He could sense it.
That raw, overwhelming power.
A magic unlike any he had felt before.
And it wasn't coming from Carat.
It was coming from Finn.
A magic that even surpassed the Ancient One.
