Marvel: My Luck Is A Hundred Million Points Better!-Chapter 171 Goddess Of Death!
Chapter 171 - 171 Goddess Of Death!
Luo Bai didn't know much about the various evil gods in the universe.
But anyone who understood Earth's misfortune knew one thing—trouble never stopped coming.
From time to time, evil gods would descend, seeking to devour the planet.
So why not take advantage of the situation? He could subdue them all and establish a "Black Magic Academy" in Kamar-Taj.
Although black magic was widely regarded as dangerous, after experiencing so many battles, it was clear to everyone—when it came to combat, white magic was still inferior to black magic. After all, white magic focused primarily on defense.
And maxing out defense wasn't enough. You couldn't just stand there getting hit forever—you had to strike back.
As the Sorcerer Supreme, setting up a "Black Magic Academy" wasn't exactly ethical.
But if he had to personally step in every time Earth was in danger, he'd be endlessly busy.
With that in mind, Luo Bai seriously considered the idea. However, he had more pressing matters to attend to at the moment—finding the fragments of the Phoenix Force.
After all, becoming the White Phoenix King was no small matter.
But before that, he needed to locate the remaining fragments.
Just as he was about to begin his search, his phone buzzed—a message from Polaris.
"Master Luo Bai, are you free? I need to ask you something."
The moment he saw the text, Luo Bai could already guess why Polaris was reaching out.
It was probably the same reason Stark and Strange had approached him—they lost confidence after being defeated by Galactus's Herald.
Shaking his head, Luo Bai opened a portal and stepped into the villa.
Inside, he found Polaris, Wanda, and Quicksilver sitting on the sofa, as if they had been waiting for him.
The moment they saw him, all three stood up at once.
"Master Luo Bai, you're here!" Polaris greeted him excitedly.
Luo Bai smiled. "I came as soon as I got your message. What do you need?"
As expected, Polaris quickly got to the point. In a serious tone, she said, "Master Luo Bai, we need your help... we want to become stronger."
Before Luo Bai could respond, Wanda cut in, "To put it simply, we want power. More than what we have now. But we don't know how to get stronger. And it's not just me—they feel the same way."
Quicksilver nodded. "To be honest, I've always been confident in my speed. But after fighting Galactus's Herald, I realized how weak I really am. I want to get stronger. I don't want to be that powerless ever again."
Luo Bai sighed as he looked at their determined expressions.
"I get it," he said. "Stark and Strange told me the same thing. I feel like I've become a therapist at this point."
Polaris blinked in surprise. "Wait... Mr. Stark and Dr. Strange came to you too?"
Luo Bai nodded. "Yeah. One of them decided to build an Anti-God Suit. The other? He turned to black magic. They both felt too weak and wanted to change that."
Hearing this, Polaris frowned slightly.
Lowering her head, she muttered, "Master Luo Bai, I've been training hard. I've improved a lot since mastering magnetic fields... I thought I was strong enough. But now I realize... it's still not enough."
Quicksilver sighed as well, frustration evident in his voice.
"I thought I was fast... but those Heralds move at the speed of light. They saw through my every move. Compared to them... I'm painfully slow."
Luo Bai understood their frustration.
After all, Galactus's Heralds possessed cosmic-level combat power. Taking on three mutants who hadn't fully developed their abilities? That was effortless for them.
But...
Wanda shouldn't be struggling like this.
Unlike the others, she had Chaos Magic within her.
Turning to Wanda, Luo Bai asked, "Do you feel the same way? That your power isn't enough?"
Wanda shook her head. "Not exactly. It's not that I can't fight them... it's that I can't fully control my power."
Luo Bai nodded. That made sense.
Chaos Magic, along with the Phoenix Force and Fairy Magic, was one of the Three Great Cosmic Powers.
While it wasn't as limitless as the White Phoenix King or Fairy Magic, a fully unleashed Chaos Magic user was still more than capable of handling a Herald of Galactus.
But Wanda struggling to control her power? That was expected.
Smiling, Luo Bai reassured her, "Don't worry. You already have immense power. Follow my training, and you'll gradually master it."
Wanda sighed. "I know. I can feel myself improving... but it's still not enough."
"Magic must be learned step by step," Luo Bai reminded her. "Rushing won't help."
Wanda exhaled, looking conflicted. "You're right... maybe I'm just too impatient. I want to live a peaceful life, but Earth is anything but peaceful."
Luo Bai could understand her concerns.
After a brief pause, he said, "I know you're worried about Earth's future. But trust me—I'll make sure it becomes a better place."
Wanda hesitated before asking, "Since Galactus is gone... will Earth finally have some peace?"
Luo Bai fell silent for a moment before shaking his head.
"Probably not," he admitted. "As far as I know, the Celestials are coming soon. And they might be even harder to deal with than Galactus."
The moment he said that, Polaris and Quicksilver tensed up.
"Another cosmic-level enemy?" Polaris muttered, her voice filled with anxiety. "Then what do we do?"
Luo Bai chuckled. "For now, your only option is to keep improving."
"But I feel like I've hit a wall," Polaris admitted.
Mutant abilities could improve through training, but there was always an upper limit.
Without the right method, they would eventually plateau.
Luo Bai suspected that Polaris had already reached that bottleneck—her current strength wasn't enough to fully unleash her abilities on a large scale.
However...
After absorbing a massive amount of cosmic energy from Galactus, Luo Bai had developed a technique using Fairy Magic—a spell that allowed one to absorb and harness cosmic energy.
Perhaps, if they learned to tap into cosmic power, Polaris and Quicksilver could push past their limits.
Thinking of this, Luo Bai said, "I can teach you a technique to absorb cosmic energy. But whether or not you succeed depends entirely on your talent."
Learning magic usually depends on talent.
With the talents of Polaris and Quicksilver, the amount of cosmic power they could absorb was likely not much.
However, even absorbing a small fraction of cosmic energy would bring them immense improvement.
For Quicksilver, it could push his speed closer to the speed of light. For Polaris, it could expand her magnetic field manipulation to a universal scale.
How long this process would take depended entirely on their progress.
As for their ultimate potential, that was something only they could determine.
Still, upon hearing that there was a way for them to evolve and grow stronger, Polaris and Quicksilver didn't hesitate.
"I'm willing to learn," they said in unison.
With that, Luo Bai began teaching them magic.
Memorizing the incantation wasn't difficult, nor was grasping the basic principles.
The real challenge lay in absorbing the power of the universe itself.
Both of them quickly committed the spell to memory and began attempting energy absorption.
Yet, after practicing for an entire hour, neither of them could absorb even a single spark—let alone harness true cosmic energy.
Frustration began to set in.
Polaris, in particular, was so anxious she was on the verge of tears.
"Luo Bai... I..." She raised her head and looked at him helplessly, as if she wanted to say something but was too embarrassed to speak.
Luo Bai, seeing her frustration, simply smiled.
"Don't worry, take your time. You have to—"
Just as he was about to demonstrate the magic of cosmic energy absorption again, something unexpected happened.
A black Chaos portal suddenly appeared in front of him.
The moment the portal opened, everyone sensed that something was off.
"What is that?" Polaris asked immediately, her voice laced with unease.
Luo Bai didn't answer right away, but he could feel that this portal had been specifically opened for him.
With that thought in mind, he turned to Polaris and Quicksilver.
"You two keep practicing. I'll be back soon."
"Luo Bai, be careful!" Polaris called out after him.
Luo Bai simply waved his hand with a confident smile.
"It's fine."
After all, he was a man blessed with an extreme luck buff. If this portal truly posed a threat, it wouldn't have even opened in the first place.
Thinking that, Luo Bai stepped into the portal without hesitation.
The moment he emerged on the other side, his gaze landed on a woman.
To be precise, a breathtakingly beautiful woman.
She lay reclined on a throne made of skulls, exuding an aura of power and mystery.
Draped in a flowing black cloak, she bore an unmistakable resemblance to a certain cosmic entity—
Death.
