Hikaru was utterly stunned!
How could this guy be here near Dragonspiral Tower?!
Even though this was a dream, it still felt incredibly strange.
Walking Wake had first appeared in Burned Tower, and now it was in Dragonspiral Tower. Was this what the Symbol Slate meant by a "fated encounter"?
But... this was still just a dream!
Walking Wake also tilted its head in slight confusion upon seeing Hikaru, then happily walked forward. Petilil, however, was immediately on guard and was about to launch an attack—until Hikaru scooped her up!
"Don't attack! This is a friend!"
"Wawa?"
This dragon... is a friend?
Petilil was confused and still somewhat tense.
Walking Wake, in turn, looked at Petilil curiously.
"Rawr?"
Where's that straight sword from before? Was it fired?
Did he switch Pokémon?
But more importantly—it was great to see Hikaru again!
Walking Wake was absolutely delighted!
This is my little dragon trainer!
"How are you here? It's great to meet again, even if it's still a dream."
Hikaru reached out and stroked Walking Wake's crest, mane, and jaw. Just like last time, the Pokémon remained still in a submissive posture, purring contentedly like a large dog.
Then, it let out a low growl and turned toward the tower.
With Hikaru's Dragon Tamer knowledge, he could understand Walking Wake's thoughts. Moreover, since this was a dream, communication was effortless as long as Hikaru focused.
Additionally, the Crystal Heart he obtained from the Ruins of Rock was taking effect.
Walking Wake, being an ancient Pokémon, was classified as Paradox, but it was still a being summoned from a past timeline.
"You're saying this is the dream of a great dragon? And you've been here several times—searching for Payapa Berries?"
Hikaru was stunned.
Walking Wake let out a long sigh before growling in frustration.
It was currently sleeping in a strange forest filled with pink mist. There were no other Pokémon there, but sometimes berries would fall from the dream itself. Walking Wake had planted them, but they grew slowly and weren't enough to eat.
By dreaming in that forest, it could enter other Pokémon's dreams and search for more berries, which it then brought back. This way, the berries became real food.
So, it had been stealing things from other Pokémon's dreams—and stockpiling them in that mysterious forest.
Meanwhile, in this dream, there was a great dragon that kept repeating something about "the real world being here." Every time it approached the tower, the forest would erupt into flames, as if the dragon was trapped in a nightmare.
Hikaru finally understood.
"So the one inside Dragonspiral Tower is... the legendary Dragon Pokémon, the 'Dragon of Truth'—Reshiram!"
And now, the cause of the forest fire was also clear!
According to Unova's myths, if humanity disregarded truth and indulged in selfish desires, Reshiram's flames would burn their kingdom to the ground.
2,500 years ago, Reshiram and Zekrom fought in an intense battle alongside the twin heroes. When the heroes realized their mistake, they restored peace. But after their deaths, their sons reignited the war. In rage, Reshiram and Zekrom unleashed flames and lightning, reducing Unova to ashes. One dragon slumbered in the Ancient Castle, while the other rested in Dragonspiral Tower.
"So its memories from 2,500 years ago are still repeating in this dream, which is why the forest keeps burning..."
Hikaru glanced around—the forest was rapidly regenerating since this was a dream.
Still, Reshiram's dream wasn't his concern. Hikaru was more interested in where Walking Wake's real body was right now.
A mysterious forest connected to many Pokémon's dreams, where real objects could be brought out from dreams...
That had to be the Entralink Forest!
At that moment, Walking Wake pulled a Poké Ball out of its mane—a pink Poké Ball.
Hikaru was shocked.
A Dream Ball?!
"Wait, this was the Heavy Ball from before... but now it's become a Dream Ball?"
So, Walking Wake had been carrying this all along.
And the Dream Ball worked in both dreams and reality.
Originally, Walking Wake was supposed to be summoned to Paldea, but somehow, due to an accidental dream event, it had ended up in Unova's Entralink Forest instead.
The Entralink Forest was a secret location known by very few people in Unova. Hikaru suddenly felt that this situation was getting complicated.
As a Dream Explorer, he could bring one object out of the dream.
However, Walking Wake's real body was in the Entralink Forest—which meant Hikaru couldn't take it out of the dream using his ability.
"That pink mist in the forest must be 'Dream Mist'—the key to entering the Dream World."
Hikaru gripped the Dream Ball and checked its information.
[Crafted Item: Dream Ball (Walking Wake's Poké Ball)]
[Description: A mysterious Poké Ball that appeared in the Entralink Forest. It can capture any Pokémon within the forest.]
[Item Effects: If used in the Entralink Forest, catch rate ×255. Otherwise, catch rate ×1. If used on a sleeping Pokémon, catch rate ×4. Otherwise, catch rate ×1.]
[Note: This unique Poké Ball was created using Dream Mist and Dream Materials. Since Walking Wake has already been captured and is in the Entralink Forest, it cannot be removed from the dream via Dream Explorer. You must visit the Entralink Forest.]
Hikaru sighed in disappointment.
So he couldn't take it out after all.
The Entralink Forest was a bizarre place, possessing unique powers. Only there could Pokémon be made real, so it made sense that Walking Wake was summoned there.
"Wait!"
Hikaru suddenly thought of something.
What about his Dream Home?
It had permanent soft soil—what if he brought Walking Wake there instead?
That way, it could gather berries near his Dream Home, and Hikaru would be able to see it every time he entered a Pokémon's dream!
Besides, Unova and Sinnoh don't have a time difference...
No, Walking Wake probably just overslept.
After all, in the Entralink Forest, it had nothing to do but sleep everywhere.
Hikaru immediately said to Walking Wake:
"Come back with me to my Dream Home. You can plant berries there too! Whatever berries you want, I'll grow them for you!"
"Rawr!"
Walking Wake's eyes lit up in excitement, and it let out a happy purr.
Hikaru really is the best trainer! Oh, right!
Walking Wake suddenly thought of something.
It pointed at Dragonspiral Tower, growled twice, then rumbled excitedly.
Then, it shook its body, and with a plop, a round white stone rolled out of its mane!
Walking Wake picked it up with its claws and handed it to Hikaru.
Upon realizing what it was, Hikaru froze.
Wait... Walking Wake had been storing treasures in its mane?!
And this stone...
"You found this in the dream? But not inside the tower?"
Walking Wake scratched its face and tilted its head in confusion.
What's wrong with that?
If it appeared in a legendary dragon's dream, it must be something valuable!
Hikaru held the round, white stone in both hands.
[Crafted Item (?): Light Stone (Cannot Be Taken Out)]
[Description 1: The remnants of Reshiram's body after its destruction. It is said to be awaiting the arrival of a hero.]
[Description 2: Though its surface is scarred, it repeats the same 2,500-year-old nightmare. It harbors resentment toward something inside Dragonspiral Tower. Perhaps polishing away its scars could calm it down.]
[Item Effect: Can be used as a heat source for forging.]
Hikaru: "..."
So this really is the Light Stone?!
Walking Wake, do you just pick up everything you find?!
"Rawr~"
Walking Wake happily let out a triumphant roar.
See? This is a great find! I've collected even more from other Pokémon's dreams!
