Unova Region, North of Floccesy Town, Pledge Grove.
This was a secluded forest with a pond and a massive rock, where three unique Pokémon were gathered—one resembling a sheep, one resembling a bull, and one resembling a deer. They were the legendary Swords of Justice: Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion!
Cobalion had the appearance of a quadrupedal creature similar to a goat, with a body covered in deep-sea blue fur, jagged yellow steel-like horns, and a sky-blue snout.
A tuft of white fur extended from its neck, giving it a regal and commanding presence. It was also the leader of the Swords of Justice!
However, the three Swords of Justice did not always stay together. Sometimes, they resided separately in the Guidance Chamber, the Trial Chamber, and the Reflection Chamber.
They also roamed the Unova region, honing their Sacred Sword technique and rescuing Pokémon in distress.
Pledge Grove, however, was the place where they had sworn their oaths and formed their trio.
Today, they had reunited to exchange insights from their travels and to keep a close watch on the interactions between humans and Pokémon.
At that moment, Cobalion was discussing something with the other two warriors, visibly frustrated about a strange dream it had recently experienced.
"You're saying a legendary dragon attacked you in the dream world?"
Virizion, the verdant Grassland Pokémon with a form resembling a mix between an antelope and a deer, displayed an expression of sheer disbelief.
The legendary dragons of Unova were ancient Pokémon from myth—Reshiram, the Dragon of Truth, and Zekrom, the Dragon of Ideals. These dragons were said to have built the Unova region and then destroyed it, wielding powers akin to deities.
The Swords of Justice had lived for centuries and naturally knew of this legend.
"I'm not certain it was one of the legendary dragons," Cobalion admitted. "It did have a dragon-like form and used Dragon-type moves. But it was a Pokémon I'd never seen in Unova before. Next time, I'll be sure to teach it a lesson."
The memory of that night still infuriated Cobalion. While practicing its sword techniques in the dream world, it had been releasing sharp, triangular steel blades between its two steel horns when a massive dragon had barged into its dream.
The dragon had immediately fixated on its steel horns, its eyes gleaming as if it had discovered a rare treasure!
"Without a doubt, it used Fire- and Dragon-type moves, much like the records of the Dragon of Truth, which once scorched Unova. However, its body didn't have any white markings."
Recalling the battle, Cobalion frowned. The dragon, adorned with a flowing mane and a crystal-like crest atop its head, had first attacked with Dragon Pulse and Dragon Tail, then followed up with Flamethrower, Sunny Day, and Fire Fang!
The sheer power of its Flamethrower was far beyond that of an ordinary Pokémon. Cobalion had fought fiercely before finally driving the dragon away, but not before it had nearly bitten off its steel horns.
Thankfully, it had only happened in the dream world. Otherwise, if its horns had been broken in reality, how could it still call itself a Sword of Justice?!
"Hahaha! From your description, that dragon does seem to have some differences from the Unovan legendary dragons," Terrakion, the muscular Cavern Pokémon resembling a bull, let out a hearty laugh. "Or maybe the legends themselves have been distorted over time?"
Then, with a thoughtful look, it asked, "But despite its differences in color and appearance, if it truly is one of the legendary dragons, doesn't that mean the hero is about to appear?"
"The Hero of Truth and the Hero of Ideals?" Cobalion scoffed, still irritated. "They were just figures who rekindled war on Unova's lands. Humans are neither inherently good nor evil—they simply attack whatever opposes their ideals. 'Truth' and 'Ideals' are just words they use to justify their actions."

Terrakion suddenly remembered something. "While training recently, I noticed some humans searching for Unova's legends. Their outfits were quite bizarre. Near the Pokémon League, they seemed to be secretly constructing something underground. I vaguely heard mentions of 'King' and 'Hero.'"
"I also saw a man with green hair—perhaps the 'King' they were referring to? If these events are linked, it could explain why the legendary dragon has begun to stir in the dream world. If it's already appearing in dreams, then its emergence in reality may not be far off."
"If we're unsure, why not ask that one?" Virizion, who had been listening, finally spoke up. "The one living in the Giant Chasm. It's also a great dragon and might know something about the legendary dragons."
During their long journeys, the Swords of Justice had encountered many extraordinary Pokémon. In the remote parts of Unova, there lay the Giant Chasm—a massive crater said to have formed from an ancient meteorite impact.
When the Swords of Justice were younger, they had ventured into the chasm and encountered a Pokémon named Kyurem.
As a rite of passage, they had once challenged Kyurem, recognizing its power. Over time, they had come to know it, though Kyurem had always remained somewhat indifferent and unwilling to discuss its past.
"That's right! Kyurem must know something—it's lived for centuries and has deep knowledge of ancient legends!"
"If Unova is on the brink of a crisis, we'll need Kyurem's power!"
Nodding in agreement, the three Swords of Justice swiftly departed from Pledge Grove, preparing to traverse half of Unova to reach the Giant Chasm!
...
Beneath the Pokémon League, Unova's Northernmost Region.
Even Unova's Elite Four, Champion, and League staff were unaware of a hidden truth—beneath the sacred and imposing Pokémon League, a far grander structure lay concealed.
A magnificent castle, more opulent and dazzling than the League itself, stood in secrecy.
As the rest of the world basked in daylight, Unova had just entered the night. Inside the castle, a tall man was gently comforting a Zoroark.
He wore a black-gray cap, had vibrant green hair, and was dressed in a cream-colored long coat. A pendant resembling a celestial body hung from his chest, and a cube-like object, the Rubik Sponge, was attached to his waist.
This man was none other than N, the public figurehead of Team Plasma—a man who sought to change the world, to free Pokémon from human rule, and to create a world where only Pokémon could exist.
Tonight, however, he was offering psychological support to his Pokémon.
The previous night, his Zoroark had experienced a bizarre nightmare—one where it was attacked by a massive, unknown dragon Pokémon.
The dragon had seized its prized crimson mane, yanking it out without mercy, then clamped its jaws around Zoroark's head, refusing to let go. No matter how much Zoroark struggled, the dragon's immense strength rendered it powerless.
It had been a complete nightmare.
Had Zoroark not woken up in time, it feared it might have been left completely bald.
The dragon in its dream had also breathed roaring flames. Using Illusion, Zoroark had recreated the image of Walking Wake, believing it to be the very legendary dragon N had been searching for.
But N remained silent.
The legendary dragon of Unova was indeed said to wield flames that could scorch the land. However, would a divine dragon recklessly invade an ordinary Pokémon's dream just to yank out its hair?!
Even a Stoutland from the streets had more class.
The dragon's appearance and color also didn't match Unova's legendary records.
Still, N believed this dream held meaning.
Unova had always been a land of strange, prophetic dreams.
Even if they were often unreliable, they couldn't be ignored entirely.
Just as he was lost in thought, a voice rang out in the castle.
"Lord Ghetsis has returned!"
Ghetsis strode through the long corridors of the castle, his luxurious green cape billowing behind him as he approached N. Beside him was an elderly man with light green hair, clad in an ornate robe.
"Oh, N, I bring good news."
Ghetsis spoke with confidence, his voice echoing through the grand hall.
"During my travels, I have found more like-minded individuals. The concept of the Seven Sages is nearly complete. Additionally, I have acquired an artifact that will ensure your recognition by the legendary dragon. Very soon, that item will arrive in Unova."
A glint of excitement flickered in Ghetsis' single visible eye.
"Next, I plan to hold public speeches across Unova, awakening the people to the cruelty of Pokémon battles and making them realize that humans should not enslave Pokémon for their own selfish desires. The time of discord is coming to an end. Unova shall soon enter a new era."
However, Ghetsis' tone grew heavier as he added, "Unfortunately, we have yet to gather sufficient information on the legendary dragon. Despite scouring numerous ruins, our discoveries have been minimal."
He gestured toward the elderly man beside him. "This sage here is Zinzolin."
Zinzolin, an elder with sharp, intelligent eyes, took a step forward and gave N a slight nod in greeting.
"The legendary dragon..." N's gaze flickered thoughtfully. He hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Last night, my Pokémon had a peculiar dream."
He proceeded to recount Zoroark's bizarre nightmare in detail.
As Ghetsis listened, his composed expression wavered ever so slightly. When he heard about the dragon's crude and undignified actions, even he—a cunning strategist—could not help but reveal a hint of bewilderment.
"A legendary dragon behaving like that?"
The idea that an entity revered in Unovan mythology would rudely barge into a Pokémon's dream to pluck out its fur was utterly absurd.
Even if the dragon had lost its sense of self after centuries of slumber, it should not have lost its majesty.
If they were to use this as the basis for a hero's legend, they would likely be ridiculed.
Moreover, the dragon's color scheme was all wrong. According to legend, the dragons were black and white. Had time altered its form? Or had historical records been flawed from the start?
Zinzolin's eyes narrowed. "A strange dream indeed. So, do you believe this creature is one of the legendary dragons?"
He stroked his beard thoughtfully. "I admit, something seems off. But at the same time, we cannot rely solely on historical accounts. Our extensive searches have yet to reveal the dragon's resting place. Perhaps it is time to alter our approach—to pay attention to beings that may not fit our expectations."
Ghetsis remained silent for a moment before murmuring, "I have, in fact, come across certain peculiar records in my research."
He did not elaborate immediately. The information he had found seemed too absurd to be worth serious consideration.
There were whispers in ancient texts that spoke of a third dragon—a being separate from Reshiram and Zekrom. But the details were scarce, fragmented, and vague, with little credibility.
In truth, the entirety of Unova's history revolved around the black and white dragons. If a third dragon had truly existed, then why was it barely mentioned?
At best, some of these records could be referring to an ancient Hydreigon mistaken for a legendary being.
But now... Ghetsis' mind stirred.
Could the unruly dragon from the dream be this so-called third dragon?
If so, it was worth investigating further.
"Very well," Ghetsis finally said, "I will look deeper into this matter. If there truly exists a third legendary dragon, then we must learn all we can about it."
