Master of Kaidan-Chapter 598: The World Corresponding to Level 121
"I understand, but not completely," Feng Xue candidly replied. Green Lantern was not surprised and, after a moment of thought, explained:
"Well, let’s put it this way. What do you think divine power is?"
"Compared to the faith enfeoffment system, ’Identity’ is ’Faith,’ ’Element’ is ’Divinity,’ ’Tag’ is ’Divine Status,’ and cobbling together ’Keywords’ is like igniting the ’Divine Fire.’ Looking at it this way, the ’Power’ of Kaidan should essentially be ’Divine Power,’ right?"
Feng Xue laid out her previous speculations, and Green Lantern gave a slight nod, confirming:
"That’s basically correct, but there is a small paradox here. The ’Ritual’ of the Tower of Babylon is meant to transform a person into a god, not a god into a god. However, Kaidan, in essence, is already a god."
"So the Tower of Babylon goes to great lengths to first turn us into humans?" Feng Xue changed the side of the salt in her hand again, while Green Lantern gently shook her head:
"It actually makes sense. After all, the biggest limitation of Kaidan itself is the inability to produce ’Identity’ on its own, but humans can. In other words, the process from human to god is essentially about becoming a self-sufficient perfect life form, capable of drawing on the faith of others to grow, but even without faith, one can self-produce ’Identity’ to maintain existence."
"I see." Feng Xue took a moment to feel it for herself, and suddenly an expression of realization appeared on her face. It wasn’t her fault, really—her "Libra-Swearer," "Martial Arts Spreader-Mo Ju," "The First Masked Rider," and "Mystical Lord" Kaidan were all major producers of ’Identity.’ And after acquiring "Heavenly Court-Emperor of Heaven," her income soared even more, while her own output was only about a hundred thousand a day, not even close to what she gained every second, so naturally she hadn’t paid much attention.
Green Lantern’s Hundred Tales had been rooted for many years and had become one with the entire culture of the Eastern Country. Naturally, she understood Feng Xue’s situation and wasn’t shown off by her Versailles-like statement but continued the topic:
"Anyway, the task for the 121st layer is to obtain Kaidan keywords in that world as a human and successfully gain the qualifications of a god."
"That doesn’t sound very difficult, does it?" Feng Xue slightly frowned upon hearing this and didn’t think it was a big deal. But when she thought about being in human form, an alarm bell went off: "Does that mean we can’t use our powers?"
"Not exactly," Green Lantern replied. "It’s just that that world already has too many ’Gods,’ so the ’Identity’ has been pretty much divided up. In other words, if you use your power at will after entering that world, it will immediately attract the attention of a god with similar power and then face their targeting. A little carelessness may cause a fusion of Kaidan. And if you want to gain the power of a god, you must find a way to pull down a god; otherwise, there is no ’vacancy’ for you in that world."
Green Lantern gave her explanation, but Feng Xue still didn’t think it would be difficult. Seeing his expression, Green Lantern had a moment of realization and spoke with a somewhat lamenting tone:
"That’s true. You managed to break out from the highly restrictive Manager System with nothing to your name, and even turned the tables on the Hundred Tales. A world surrounded by countless Kaidan might just be a larger version of the Hundred Tales for you."
Hearing Green Lantern express her grievances for the first time, Feng Xue didn’t mind at all, simply flashing a smile:
"So, you’re revealing such important information outright. Does that mean you’re planning to collaborate?"
"Pretty much. Some things you might not understand just by being told, so let me put it this way: The first time I entered that world, I only survived for seventeen seconds before encountering my first death." Green Lantern’s enunciation was especially clear here, as if fearing that Feng Xue might misunderstand.
Sure enough, upon hearing the seventeen-second figure, Feng Xue finally started to take it seriously. He didn’t know much about Green Lantern, but he was certain her ability to preserve life was unquestionable. Even if she relied on resurrection abilities like Uncle A to give away first blood at the start, she wouldn’t just go down in seventeen seconds, would she?
Noticing the expression Feng Xue was wearing, the one she wanted to see, Green Lantern then explained:
"The rules in that world are very... well, quirky. Because there are so many Kaidan, there are a vast number of hidden rules. And whether it’s the impact of the previous Layer Masters’ probing, that place is extremely sensitive to newcomers. All I did was find a chubby little boy to ask for directions, and the next thing I knew, the boy exploded. The entire city was leveled in an instant. By the time I resurrected, the local gods had already started guarding the corpse."
"That extreme? That little boy was a believer of a god? So, are all the civilians in that world fervent believers, or were you just unlucky to run into one?"
Feng Xue tapped his fingers lightly on the table, thinking rapidly in his head. If this door-to-door slaughter was widespread, then getting information from the natives was virtually impossible because if there’s an explosion upon contact, there might not even be a chance to insert a coin or to say ’Yes, yes, yes’.
Green Lantern shook his head in response: 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"I don’t know, but that explosion wasn’t just powerful; it had a special attack against Kaidan. When I was killed by the blast, a tag I had was shattered along with me, and it wasn’t until I returned to Infinite City that it reformed."
"An explosion that can shatter tags? Is it effective against already formed entries?" Feng Xue’s expression grew more serious, and Green Lantern just shook his head:
"It only destroyed the tag. However, the power of the entry that the tag constituted couldn’t be activated after the tag was destroyed. But once back in Infinite City and reconnected with the world that the tag condensed from, the tag would quickly reconstruct, and the Kaidan would return to its original state."
"I see, that’s not too unacceptable." Feng Xue nodded lightly. He had a considerable number of Kaidan in his possession, including many with functional and growth powers. Missing one or two wouldn’t have too much impact on his strength, not to mention that while he appeared to be a Martial Arts Grandmaster, the real trickery was with his Companion Phantom Objects.
Right, Phantom Objects!
"Can Phantom Objects be used in that world?" Feng Xue asked as soon as the thought occurred to him, and Green Lantern nodded:
"My Night Parade of Hundred Demons and Floating World Green Lamp can be used normally, but these two are my Companion Phantom Objects, so I’m not entirely sure about the usability of non-companion Phantom Objects."
"One last question."
Feng Xue pondered for a moment then slowly asked:
"Can we really cooperate for the Tower of Babylon challenge?"
As he spoke, he maximized the Heart of Bright Mirror, with the computing power of the Haotian Mirror fully unfolding to record every micro-expression.
Green Lantern did not hide anything and naturally replied:
"The entire 121st layer is the construction ritual of the Tower of Babylon, or you can call it the Kaidan Ritual or Divinity Ritual, whichever works. As long as Kaidan becomes a god in human form, the ritual will be completed. It’s like a Divine Weapon in the making; even if everyone plans to snatch it after its completion, no one would destroy it while it’s being forged and in that world, we layer masters from outside are at a disadvantage. Isn’t forming a group to stand against powerful enemies the most correct approach?"
"That makes sense." Feng Xue nodded lightly, tentatively accepting Green Lantern’s words, just about to discuss when to form a group for the expedition, when he suddenly thought of something and said with a smirk:
"Just curious, that tag of yours that got blown up, would you mind telling me what it was?"
Green Lantern looked a bit surprised at the question, but still answered: "It’s not a problem, that tag was ’Eastern Country’."
"Ah, that..."
