Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 66 - 67: Room 444
Today’s guest, Xi Xi, was a young woman with long, flowing hair. But while her face had a certain classical elegance, her outfit was decidedly modern.
She wore a studded leather jacket and tall black boots, and her hair was cut in the latest jellyfish style.
She even had a piercing on her lower lip. She was a young woman with a strong personality, radiating an aura that just screamed ’parental disapproval’.
Su Nian offered a polite reminder. "Please pay the divination fee first."
Xi Xi might have looked aloof and rebellious, but she was surprisingly agreeable. She gave a slightly sheepish smile, pursing her lips, and sent Su Nian the gift.
"Hello everyone, I’m Xi Xi."
[What a rebel!]
[That’s not being a rebel, that’s called having a unique style, you get it?]
[Her voice is so pleasant, and her skin is so fair. A gentle girl like her would look even prettier in more conventional clothes.]
[She’s perfectly normal as she is, okay? Her style is just a little more unique!]
Su Nian asked, "So, what would you like me to divine for you today?"
A mysterious expression crossed Xi Xi’s face. "Hello, Streamer. I’m actually an urban exploration streamer. I’m currently at a hotel that has some wild rumors surrounding it."
Xi Xi slowly began her story.
"Here in this city, at the Yiwan Inn, there’s a rumor about Room 444."
Xi Xi’s mysterious tone immediately piqued the curiosity of her viewers.
"The legend says you must never be alone in Room 444 at the stroke of midnight. You have to turn off all the lights, draw the curtains, turn on the television... and open the little booklet sitting on top of it."
[A little booklet?!]
[I think that story is real. It caused a huge stir a few years back. How can you be brave enough to go there?]
[Miss, I know this will get you a ton of views, but I’m telling you, you should get out of there. The rumors about that place are true.]
[I agree. You managed to get picked for Su Nian’s divination, which means there must be something supernatural involved. And you’re actively seeking it out? Do you have a death wish or something?]
Some people didn’t know the legend and were getting curious, while a few others started to fill them in.
[That inn is seriously cursed. There have always been all sorts of stories about it.]
[They say tons of people have died in that inn, but it’s somehow still in business. The main thing is a major incident that happened a few years ago.]
[Six college students stayed in that room. Five of them died—all by jumping out the window. The one who survived supposedly went insane.]
[Never mind anything else, doesn’t it strike you as odd that all of them jumped in a single night? The theory back then was that they must have decided jumping was safer than staying in the room. That’s the terrifying part. What in the world could have been in there with them?]
Su Nian’s brow furrowed as she read the comments.
But Xi Xi was unfazed. She even clapped her hands.
"Thanks to that viewer for the explanation! That’s exactly right. And I’m in that very room right now!"
As she spoke, Xi Xi watched her follower count skyrocket, her eyes crinkling into a happy smile.
She had originally been a sports streamer, but after several years with little to show for it, her assistant suggested she pivot.
Seeing how Su Nian had appeared out of nowhere and become a massive hit on the platform, she had been sorely tempted to try something similar.
After settling on a plan, she quickly rebranded as an urban exploration streamer.
And for her first broadcast in this new genre, she had chosen this very inn.
And now, with the boost from Su Nian’s stream, her eyes were curved in a wide grin. ’Money! So much money!’
Most people would have avoided this place like the plague, but she wasn’t the least bit afraid, mainly because she didn’t believe in any of it.
But even though she was a non-believer, she was daring enough to do this stream and had made thorough preparations.
"Thank you for the gifts, everyone! Now, I’m going to open this booklet!"
Su Nian blinked. Her gaze landed on the excited Xi Xi, and her brow furrowed. "Put that down. Don’t touch it!"
"Huh? Why not?"
Xi Xi, who had already picked up the booklet, found her command strange.
But Su Nian’s expression was grim. "I know you have other people staged in this room. Two by the door, and two hiding on the window ledge, correct?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah. That’s for my own safety."
Xi Xi didn’t understand. ’It’s a perfectly normal precaution. It makes the stream more exciting and ensures I’m safe.’
"Have them all come out."
"Huh?"
Though confused, Xi Xi did as she was told and called them out. Her team’s plan was to follow Su Nian’s instructions.
Through the screen, Su Nian watched the small group standing there awkwardly, some even scratching their heads in confusion. Her voice turned serious.
"Your faces have gone pale, there’s a darkness between your brows, and a sickly blue tinge has appeared under your eyes. Disaster is about to strike!"
"Leave this inn at once! Find a capable master to perform an exorcism. Otherwise, you may not live to see the sunrise!"
The gravity in Su Nian’s voice stunned them.
But Xi Xi’s face showed only wild excitement.
"So, you’re saying there really is a ghost here? Hahaha! It’s fine, we’re fully prepared. We’ll be okay!"
[What the hell is wrong with this Xi Xi girl?]
[I can’t even... Is money more important than her life?!]
[You can’t talk sense into someone determined to die. She’s the type who dies first in a horror movie!]
[All I can say is, play stupid games, win stupid prizes!]
Xi Xi’s eyes were alight with amusement. ’Sure, Su Nian sounds serious, but I’m not scared. I have so many people here protecting me.’ 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
’Even if there is a ghost, they’ll scare it away. Besides, just in case, my assistant brought a bunch of talisman paper drawn by some supposed master.’
Seeing the comments trying to warn her, Xi Xi’s tone turned disdainful.
"Can you all stop being such cowards? I don’t get what there is to be afraid of. Ghosts aren’t real!"
Su Nian watched the dark energy between Xi Xi’s brows intensify. Her expression hardened as she gave one final warning.
"If you leave right now, you’ll just end up with a broken leg and a few days of bad luck. If you insist on staying, you will remain here forever."
But perhaps blinded by the allure of money, Xi Xi just gave a dismissive nod.
"Okay, okay, Su Nian, don’t you worry. We’re fully prepared. Besides, we’re still connected to your stream, right?"
"Okay, that’s enough. I’m going to start flipping through the booklet and see what all the fuss is about!"
Just then, the young assistant stepped forward timidly.
"Xi Xi, I’m getting really scared. I... I think I’m going to sit this one out!"
Without waiting for Xi Xi to reply, the assistant put the talisman paper she was holding onto the table, threw open the door, and bolted.
She ran as if something strange were chasing her, fleeing the inn in under a minute.
And in that instant, the fate Su Nian could read on her face changed from certain death to being merely plagued by misfortune.
The few people left in the room looked at each other, momentarily at a loss for words.
But Xi Xi paid them no mind. "Fine, fine. If she wants to go, let her. We’ll focus on the stream. Once this is over, I’ll kick her off the team and give you all a bonus."
Lured by the promise of a bonus, the others settled down again.
And Xi Xi’s hand began to flip open the strange little booklet.
