Masteria Online: Shattering the Dark God's Grand Scheme-Chapter 166 - Lena fights alone!
Lena locked eyes directly with the two pixies. She gave them a mocking sneer, then spoke dismissively to them. "The two of you don’t seem to realize something. You’ve already lost."
The green pixie bristled immediately. "Huh!?" Its expression twisted with anger. "Lost? We haven’t even started yet, you insane bitch!"
The yellow one snarled as well. "What the hell are you talking about? We out number you two to one."
Lena flicked her eyes disrespectfully while performing a dismissive gesture with her hands. "You lost due to one simple fact."
That only incensed them further. "What supposed fact!?" "What are we talking about!?"
Lena purposely let the moment hang for just a second longer. She shifted her expression, making the gaze of the pixies follow her expression, which only changed to a different form of disdain.
Only when the pixies seemed like they were at their limit, about to rush her, did she answer. "Because you weren’t ruthless enough."
The effect was immediate as both pixies’ faces contorted with pure rage.
"RUTHLESS ENOUGH!?"
"YOU DARE!?"
Immediately afterwards, they rushed at her simultaneously. Half way through their flight, the green pixie teleported first, appearing directly to Lena’s right with its claws extended toward her throat.
The yellow one teleported merely a fraction of a second later, materializing to her left with its claws aiming for her heart.
Lena’s smile didn’t waver at all, even as she had simultaneous strikes aimed at her from both sides. Her right foot, which had been very still this entire time, lightly stepped off the object she’d been standing on.
Beneath her foot, a sack was revealed, which was filled with various spherical objects.
She teleported away immediately. The two pixies’s attacks slashed through the space she had just occupied. They’d already anticipated her teleport, though. They weren’t complete idiots.
The most important principle of fighting magicians was well known, especially to a race populated by mostly magicians. You had to understand the limitations of the enemies teleport, and then make possible teleport spots unsafe in advance.
Therefore, they had cast poison gas across the most likely teleport destinations in advance. The lingering, far-spanning mist was extremely efficient in quickly covering areas, though the damage might be lacking.
That was exactly the issue. Some poison gas versus actual explosive bombs? Even a fool knew which was more dangerous.
BOOM!
The fiery pressure blast erupted outward in a massive sphere. The sack disintegrated instantly as the dozen bombs inside detonated simultaneously, their combined yield creating a devastating blast.
The explosion tore through the air with such devastating force that the scene attracted the attention of a few other pixies, who stopped their actions to stare at just what was happening.
The two pixies screamed as the explosion consumed them. Their wings caught fire, their skin blistered and burned, and shrapnel tore through their small bodies.
They were thrown backward by the force, tumbling through the air.
See, Lena had used an "advanced" technique called lying.
Ruthlessness? What complete and utter nonsense. She didn’t care about ruthlessness. She wasn’t making some philosophical point about their combat mentality.
The only thing she wanted to accomplish was provoking them into making a stupid, emotionally driven decision. A plan which, evidently, had worked perfectly.
Of course, a simple explosion at that level, even if it seemed powerful, wasn’t enough to instantly kill anything at the Second Rank. These explosives were nothing like the ones Lumi had obtained and used way back at Mora.
Even fragile magicians were only fragile compared to the other classes. In truth, they were tough and durable. Their mana barriers had absorbed a significant portion of the damage.
Still, they were heavily injured now. Their bodies were burnt and they had various injuries, from torn wings, to missing fingers.
Ding! A notification appeared in Lena’s vision.
[Level Up! 31 -> 32]
The constant influx of passive experience from Lumi’s relentless farming across the battlefield had finally pushed her over the threshold.
She grinned and immediately opened her skill panel without hesitation. She had three skill points available.
She already knew what she wanted to do. She dumped two into Angel Basics. She dumped one into Perfect Hatred, unlocking it at level 1.
Her expression subtly changed. It was time for her favorite part. She teleported forward, materializing right in front of the green pixie, close enough to smell the charred flesh.
The pixie was taken aback, its eyes widening in shock at the sudden close range appearance. It was such a nonsensical action that it caused it to hesitate, missing the best timing to strike Lena.
What was she doing? Why would a mage voluntarily teleport to melee distance?
Sure, they were both magicians. However, pixies were naturally stronger than humans in close combat. They had faster reflexes, sharper claws, and more agile bodies.
The pixie’s shock lasted only a fraction of a second before combat instinct took over.
It immediately thrust its clawed hand forward with vicious intent, driving directly toward Lena’s torso.
[HP -306]
The strike landed perfectly, taking over half her health. The claws punched through cloth, through skin, through muscle. They pierced completely through her body, emerging from her back in a spray of blood.
Lena didn’t even flinch. She raised her wand, pointing it directly at the pixie’s torso from point blank range, and shouted. "Holy Arrows!"
The pixie didn’t hesitate. It was just holy arrows, no? Choreographed and easy to dodge. It already knew what the spell did. It swiftly sidestepped, moving out of the trajectory of the attack.
It grinned. Stupid human. How could it ever think this would work!? Truly, humans were an infer-
Wait.
Its grin suddenly faltered. It’s heart began to pound as it realized a big problem. Where were the arrows? It didn’t see any magic. Lena had cast a spell. There should be holy arrows! If there weren’t arr-
A spear of brilliant radiant energy suddenly pierced down from directly above, punching through the top of the pixie’s skull and emerging from its jaw.
