Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 347: He Was Not Needed There
[RANIA]
"The retired alpha had something to say. I doubt he came back before me just to tell us that Brent was Benita. He had to have had a reason to come out of hiding, and I know him. He is a strategist.
"Perhaps we wait for what he has to say before we can start slaughtering them, right? Besides, the prisoners have been without food for at least one hundred hours.
"A few more hundred hours won’t be that hard, right?" Rania said, reminding them of the alpha who had just popped out of nowhere.
He had been with them in silence even as his daughter got a little mental breakdown because of him.
However, this time, he couldn’t be blamed for what had happened. He couldn’t be held accountable and that was strange because he seemed to always find himself at the centre of everything questionable that happened to his daughter.
"Don’t worry about me. I already said what I wanted to. Benita killed Bangchan and messed with everyone’s fates. Children disappearing from their mothers and memories being wiped weren’t the only thing that Benita did.
"She voluntarily fucked the mate bond between Rania and Jihoon. I know that isn’t what we all want to hear right now, but if I am leaving, I at least owe my little girl an explanation for all the cruelty I put her through," Alpha Kim said and Chang Wook raised a brow at his father.
He had known his father to be the king of man who never gave in.
Yet as he looked at Rania slowly withering in her pain, Chang Wook couldn’t help but wonder if this was their father’s act of saving whatever was left or if this was just Kim Byungho being the father he had always wanted to be.
But would it make any sense to them at the moment?
"This is such a hilarious time. Everything is just making me wonder if we are in some sort of a circus.
"Of course, with Yanna surrounded it’s not hard to tell that we are in a circus but goddamn, a part of me was hoping that we wouldn’t be entertaining long stories for just anyone.
"The man who disowned me in front of everyone is bravely calling me his little girl and blaming our fucked-up bond, on a woman who is dead already. Dead men can’t tell tales, so the manipulation gets easier.
"Wow. Father of the year as usual. However, the only question I have at the moment is why we should listen to you. For all we could know you probably spent the whole week in your cave planning to fuck us over.
"Who knows if we played right into your hands by the death of Benita?" Rania asked, her tone so calm but the hostility was still evident. She didn’t trust her father and that was very okay. But then what else could she do about that?
Did she really want to know anything from her father?
Would it make her life any better?
Would it answer all the questions she had about why he had changed so badly?
Would it make her feel any better once I was done or would it leave her with a lot of anger and guilt for not being able to do whatever was needed?
Would it make it all better?
"Rani–" Chang Wook tried but she wasn’t having it. This was an execution, and not some petition for forgiveness of failed fathers. she wasn’t going to have that. She was done listening.
"No, brother. If he wants to apologize or make amends, he does not get to do that in a war that I triggered. He has no right to come here acting all saintly and mighty when in all my twenty-five years all the man has done is be a terrible father.
"He should know that you didn’t make up for being a shitty father but suddenly shaping up and claiming fatherhood. It just doesn’t work like that. If y’all want to forgive him, then, by all means, go ahead.
"As for me, I won’t do that. If he wants to make amends, he should find the time to do that. I refuse to be [pressured into listening to him when he has my entire life to step forward. He could have defended me.
"He could have protected me from all the pain. He could have been my father even when mother was too busy doing goddess knows what. He should have been there for me. Instead, I only had Lim Lim.
"If my sister wasn’t there I could have long been lost and even then, they wouldn’t have cared much about it. So, no. I am not going to be her pretending like it’s all roses and sunshine when he makes me want to murder him.
"If he stays, I leave. I can always deal with my prisoners later, but I refuse to be a prisoner of a past I had no clue of, a past that didn’t make any sense even to my mother herself.
"I refuse to be the girl he uses as some wacky ticket to the goddess, or wherever the fuck he is planning on leaving to once he’s done with his apologies. I just can’t and I’m sorry, but that isn’t just for me.
"Either he leaves, or I leave with my prisoners," Rania said angrily as she looked at her father. She hated that he didn’t stand up for her and forced her into the monster that many people knew. He had conveniently shown up and maybe Rania was right.
If her father wanted to make amends, the courage did it on his own, within his terms. Besides it wasn’t like Rania had made a run for the hills during the three months she had been home. Her father should have guided her into being an alpha and prepared her.
Instead, he had thrust her into the role, forcing her to transform into the one version that no one would ever be able to relate to. Perhaps this was their karma, or maybe this was the price they both had to pay for not having the connection earlier.
But then wasn’t it the responsibility of the father to make sure their child was safe and protected?
The fact that Alpha Kim colluded with Park Jihoon was something that Rania wasn’t willing to overlook.
Maybe that made her a cruel woman, but at the end of the day, she was just a child who had wished to see her father, the man who had given her life, but all she had was emptiness, a silence that deafened her even when there were loud cheers.
The isolation tactics, the disappearance facts, everything had just been Rania’s way of making sure that they didn’t step on her again.
"Okay, baby, okay. I’ll send him away," Kaia said as he pulled Rania into his arms. He loved this woman so much it hurt, and seeing her this distraught was not what he had wanted.
Dalrae herself was in shock and she was struggling to believe that the alpha had popped up in the name of reconciliation. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
She knew the alpha just like Rania and even she was painfully aware that this right here could just be another game by the bored alpha. It wasn’t going to be easy, and they knew it too.
"You need to leave, Alpha Kim," Chang Wook said, not even sparing his father a second glance. He had made up his mind.
