Mated To My Stepbrother-Chapter 50
Jaxon pov
"What needs to be finalized?" he asked, noticing my distraction as I glanced at the documents on his desk. He quickly concealed the paper among other files, but I kept my eye on it to know where it was. "I want that taken care of. If it weren’t for seeing Aria’s name, it wouldn’t concern me." I masked my suspicion with a smile as he stashed away the money, not bothering to inquire about it.
"What do you need me to do, and what are we finalizing?" he asked, the previous frown now gone. "I’m here to resolve the issue at hand. We’re supposed to finish it today so that she can be discharged and return to school. When is it happening?" I explained, pointing out that her physical injuries were healing well.
"But the real question is whether she’s ready to cut her hair, which caused the conflict between you and her friend," the doctor added.
"Do not worry; there will be no argument about it. We already resolved it, and her friend has agreed that we cut the hair. After all, it is not his hair but her own. besides, I thought of a better idea, and she might just end up covering up her head with a wig till her hair grows to a perfect style that she can show everyone." I said to the doctor; he nodded as he stood up from the chair. Just then, something fell to the ground, which I noticed he did not notice fell down. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
He soon went to his locker and began to search for a file. I was sure it was Aria’s document he was looking for. I used that opportunity to slip out the contract paper I had seen earlier which I took quickly and hid inside my pocket, not caring whether he would look for it later or need to search me as long as I knew what the paper had in it, that was all that matter, but my gaze did not just stop there.
I noticed after I had taken the letter he was still busy searching for whatever he was searching for and did not notice that I might have taken anything behind him. I decided to find whatever was the thing that fell to the ground. I bent down quickly while keeping an alert, hearing sound in case he turned around, but I could not find anything at all.
I continued to search, and still nothing came out. just then. I heard his footsteps turning around, and I quickly sat up. He brought the document and handed it to me.
"you need to sign this so we can be aware that she would not come back crying to us that we had done that to her". The doctor said.
Even though the document looked so normal and had no problem, just recalling that I saw a document with her name made me get to sign this one.
I looked up at the doctor weirdly
"why do I have to sign it? Just to cut off her hair because of all the sore or else we would have gone to a barbing salon instead? So why do we need to sign that? Not like it’s surgery." I said to the doctor.
He seemed a bit nervous as he snatched the paper from me and stared at it for a while like he did not want me to read the content of the paper.
He noticed if the paper stayed with me for two more seconds, I would read everything in the documents.
"I just need you to sign them as her guardian. You know Tim was the one who stood as a guardian earlier, and now he has left, so you are the one to take charge", the doctor said, but the way his sound seemed so weird, and I found it so cunning as I was not ready to believe him yet.
Just then, I got to realize something, earlier. He did not know Tim’s name; he called him Aria’s boyfriend or best friend, but now he was calling him by his actual name. I decided I wasn’t going to let that one slip away.
"How do you know that Aria’s friend named his Tim? I said to him, and he paused. For a doctor, he seemed a bit scared. Was it my words that got to him? I could not understand.
I watched the doctor trying to get back himself and not shake enormously again for some seconds, and still, he did not say anything.
"Doctor, I am just asking a simple question: why are you still not giving a reply?" I asked him, He turned to me with an expression that seemed like he had just realized I was talking to him, which I could point out was a pretense.
"I’m so sorry. I blanked out for a while, thinking of the diagnosis I needed to appoint for Aria." The doctor lied. I decided he wouldn’t answer the question about Tim and why I kept silent and just watched him going back and forth in confusion.
I stood up from the chair and slowly walked towards the door. "I would be waiting for your nurses to come so we can do this, and I can leave the hospital. I hope that is fine with you. After all, someone has paid for the bill, so we don’t have a problem." I said to the doctor, Who attentively nodded as I walked away. I walked out of the room, and the first thing I did was read the paper, only to see it was an agreement.
I could not understand what kind of agreement this was, but for some reason, it had Aria’s name in it.
But that was all, I decided to take my time and read what the letter is about and I was shocked to the very top.
"Child abduction?" I muttered and then I realized what was going on, Aria was going to be signed off!!!
