Mated To My Stepbrother-Chapter 97
Jaxon pov
As we continued our conversation, I noticed that Aria acted weirdly but did not want to intervene. I just continued to watch her. Any slight move from her, and I would get to the bottom of it.
But as I mentioned, he was the taxi driver, and she suddenly started acting crazy, looking around like she was scared. Someone was watching her. Even though nobody was around, I thought so angry and couldn’t help but be bothered. I wanted to know what was wrong with her.
But before I could ask her what was wrong, she stood up and ran quickly up the stairs. I looked back at Mum, and she also seemed concerned.
They noticed that she had slammed her door very harshly, something she does not usually do, and that was all it took for us to run towards her room.
We banged on the door continuously, but she did not answer as I placed my ear gently on the door. I am very sure I could hear the water running continuously for minutes without stopping, and that made me scared.
Her mum looked nervous as we tried to break down the door. Even Dad tried to break the door down, but it was futile.
I decided we needed to use a Plan B and open that door.
"Do we not have a spare key to Aria’s room?" I asked Mom who nodded before rushing toward her room as I turned to my I could see that he was a bit scared about the fact that he had entered the taxi and still was not able to identify this person.
He stood in a corner, thinking continuously. I also seemed a bit bothered, but what scared me the most was the water that continued to flow from inside Aria’s room, but she did not respond. It made me feel like she was trying to drown herself or something of that sort.
"Dad, what are you thinking about? " I asked him in concern,
"I cannot help but want to try and remember Aria’s father’s face. I just saw him as a regular taxi man, and for some mad reason, it felt like I did not even give him a two-second glance," he said with worry in his voice.
I stood up from where I was and walked towards him.
"You should not blame yourself for not cross-checking on what the taxi man looked like. If I were in your shoes, I would also not care about that, and besides, I don’t think you were ignorant about the taxi man, but I can tell that he intentionally hid his frames from you." I said while hoping my dad would agree.
"Don’t you wonder how even Mum could not recognize him because he is so good at hiding himself?" I said to him as he finally nodded in agreement Just then, Mum rushed out with the Key and handed it to me.
Just as I was about to open the door, the doorbell suddenly rang, and I felt like we needed to answer one of the two. It rang again, continuously, making Mum and Dad scared.
I decided I would check on the door while they checked on Aria, but Mum insisted that Aria would only want to listen to me as she still had a little grudge for the both of them, while Dad would escort Mom to check on who was outside. Even though they were right, I still felt so scared because Aria’s dad was still causing a huge threat to us, and I did not want that at all, but I had to agree it was their decision.
I nodded as they ran down the stairs, and I opened the door to Aria’s room, only to see that water was oozing out from the bathroom as the shower continued to pour continuously. I was too impatient as I started to yell out her name, but she still did not answer. As I got closer to the bathroom, I could hear her crying so loudly, but just when I wanted to go and check on her, I noticed that her dress was on the floor, so I stood in front of the door calling out her name, but she still did not answer. Now, I feel like Mom should have been here.
After so much pacing around and still, Aria didn’t come out, I decided to go in and carry her out not carrying her out, not caring what they are going to say or what was going to happen, her safety was most important right now.
I pushed open the door very slightly as I used my eyes to trace around where Aria was, only for me to see her soaked up inside the bathtub.
I felt so scared and rushed to turn off the water; it was so cold, it felt like ice. I tapped her to wake up or move but she made no move and lay inside the water.
I had no choice but to lift her out of it as I took her back to her bedroom. She lay on the bed, breathing heavily. I think whatever was wrong with her had already calmed down.
After cleaning the room dry, I returned to her as she was already all dressed up and sat there staring at her hands, which had already become all wrinkled from having to soak inside the water for that long.
I sat beside her and I had a sigh of relief, but I guess that relief was not going to last for long as I got to realize that Mom and Dad had not returned to check on Aria.
I stood up and closed her windows and cotton. I stare at myself in surprise.
"What is the problem?" She asked
"Mom and Dad answered the door a few minutes ago, and I had not heard a sound from them. I need to check. Meanwhile, do not leave this room, understood", I said to her, and she nodded. I ran down the stairs only to see the door wide open.
