Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 178: Take it off
Chapter 178: Take it off
By the time Uva was done changing Violet’s features to look completely different from her usual face, Cain’s patience had already run out.
"Get out!" he ordered her, watching as she immediately bowed to do as he said. She turned around, only to pause at the door for a moment with an expression that showed she had just recalled something important.
"I made it so that she would be able to change back to her face anytime she wants to!" Uva added, watching Cain’s expression closely, only to be relieved when she saw that he didn’t seem displeased. She quickly turned back around and headed for the door.
To think an old woman like me would still be this terrified to die! she thought to herself as she made sure to quickly close the door behind her before heading downstairs.
Back in the room, Cain completely ignored Uva leaving, his complete and utter attention on Violet’s new face as he moved closer to the side of the bed where he had laid her. Gently tapping her arm to wake her up.
Not particularly surprised to get no response after tapping her arm consistently the first time, he was still considering heading out to bring Uva back to wake her up when he finally watched her stir. Her eyes fluttered open as she moved her body at the same time, her groggy expression showing that she had been sleeping for a while.
Cain could have spoken, but instead, he kept quiet as he watched her roll a bit on the bed before she finally slowly opened her eyes. Her gaze settled on Cain, who didn’t shift his gaze away as he continued to look at her with a mostly blank expression.
Violet was utterly confused as she opened her eyes only to come face to face with Cain, whom she was confident she had gotten away from. Rummaging through her last memory, she recalled how she had been in a cage on the stage just before her eyes had become too heavy to keep open.
"Ca-Cain!" she stammered in shock, scrambling back at the same time, even as she somehow hoped that the situation she found herself in was nothing but a bad dream.
"Wha-what are you—" She was unable to finish the sentence as she looked around, her mouth dropping open at the familiar room she found herself in before shifting her gaze back to Cain, who was yet to speak even as he sat on the bed right beside her.
"This is—" The sense of foreboding she felt worsened ever so slightly as she noticed the intensity of Cain’s gaze on her as he continued to look at her in silence.
At that point, Violet no longer cared as she began to speak. "If by chance you rescued me from—"
"Among the things you stole... there’s an old gold watch. It belonged to my father, and I want it back!" Cain told her with a cold look in his eyes and a dark gaze that made her shudder and completely forget whatever she had been on the verge of saying.
Violet knew what he was talking about, and she also knew that the watch was something that Cain could never get again unless he went to her family.
For a split second, almost on instinct, Violet was just about to say that she herself had sold it, only for her to pause and wonder why she still had to cover for people who had willingly watched her get sold.
Before she knew it, with an angry glint in her eyes, the words slowly slithered out of her mouth. "My family! Everything I stole was taken by my family!" she said, even as she felt a mixture of anger and hesitation, but she continued speaking regardless. freewёbnoνel.com
"You should be able to get it from them!" she continued, a bit relieved to watch Cain nod his head to show that he understood as he got off the bed.
The last thing she wanted to do was continue lying on the bed too, but she had just scrambled to the side to get off when she heard the loud jingle of chains that reminded her of the cell she had been locked up in.
Instantly jerking her head in the direction of the sound, her jaw dropped to the ground as she stared at her ankle, where a huge chain was wrapped around her foot—a weight she was surprised she hadn’t noticed until then.
A loud gasp flew out of her mouth as she jerked her head to look at Cain, who suddenly had an amused expression on his face as his gaze settled on the horrified expression on her face while he began to speak.
"You stole things worth at least a hundred million, and I bought you for a hundred more!" A subtle form of horror slowly descended on Violet as she recalled the numbers she had heard right before she had passed out.
The thought that Cain would lie about the money he spent did not once cross her mind, considering the fact that the entire district belonged to him. If he wanted more money, all he had to do was get it from the citizens.
"Two-two hundred—" She found it hard to clearly call out the numbers as she watched Cain fold his hands over each other and continue speaking.
"You belong to me now. The last thing I need is for my two-hundred-million pet to run away in the middle of the night!" he continued, even as the expression on Violet’s face darkened.
Instead of continuing to lie on the bed, she instantly scrambled off it, not knowing whether or not to be relieved that the chain attached to the wall was long enough for her to move freely anywhere in the room.
For a split second, as she continued staring at the chain on her foot, Violet was at a loss for what to say, especially since Cain was barely speaking as he simply continued to silently watch her—almost as if all he wanted to see was her reaction to what he had said.
"I-I won’t run away again! I-I have nowhere else to go!" Violet promised, even as she turned her body to face him squarely, standing barely two feet away from him, raising her gaze to meet his as she continued to speak.
"I’ll do whatever you want! I promise! I’ll stay for however long you need me to!" she continued with as sincere an expression as she could muster as she spoke half-truths.
Yes! I have nowhere else to go, but that doesn’t mean I intend to stay in this bloody mansion I ran from! Maybe before, she might have considered it, but the cold gaze with which Cain looked at her terrified her beyond words, even as she pretended not to be affected.
"The chains are—" But she was still speaking, trying to convince him to unchain her, only to hear him cut in before she could finish.
"Take off your clothes!" Cain suddenly said, his voice resonating in her mind as she froze for a second, trying to convince herself that the words hadn’t been imagined.
A split second of silence passed between them, Violet listening to the sound of her heart thumping in her chest as she watched Cain fix his honey-colored brown eyes on her, a sly expression making her completely unsure of what he wanted from her.
