Chapter 164: Chapter 164: The World’s Greatest Detective

"Call Niu Tianci back and tell him my blade is sharp. I’m waiting for him to come for me," Ye Xiu said.

"Understood!" Zhu Xiaowen replied.

Any fool could see that Gu Xuesheng and those wealthy heirs couldn’t possibly be Niu Tianci’s disciples. Their families had to have pooled their money to hire Niu Tianci for revenge.

There was an unspoken rule acknowledged by all martial artists in the Ancient Martial Circle: they were territorial. For instance, Ye Xiu belonged to the Jin Ye City Ancient Martial Circle, while Gu Xuesheng was part of the Flowing Cloud Ancient Martial Circle. By severely injuring Gu Xuesheng, Ye Xiu had essentially provoked all the martial artists of Flowing Cloud.

Niu Tianci knew this perfectly well, which was why he claimed Gu Xuesheng and the wealthy heirs were his disciples before calling Zhu Xiaowen to apply pressure. If the Jin Ye City Ancient Martial Circle, led by Zhu Xiaowen, refused to hand over Ye Xiu, it would inevitably infuriate the martial artists from Flowing Cloud. If things escalated, it could trigger a war between the two Ancient Martial Circles.

Flowing Cloud was a vast and resource-rich territory, home to numerous Ancient Martial Families and Sects. In contrast, Jin Ye City was a tiny place with no Great Grandmasters and only eleven Eighth Grade Grandmasters. If a real fight broke out, the Jin Ye City Ancient Martial Circle would be wiped out in minutes. Niu Tianci’s move was absolutely ruthless.

"I was right, wasn’t I? Ye Xiu isn’t afraid of Niu Tianci at all," Zhu Xiaowen said with a smile after hanging up.

The eleven Eighth Grade Grandmasters, including Song Penghui, the Sect Leader of the Vajra Sect, all grew excited.

Song Penghui said, "Although Jin Ye City is an international metropolis, its Ancient Martial Circle is the weakest in the country. Back when the Mo Family was supporting us, martial artists from other regions already looked down on us. After the Mo Family was destroyed, martial artists from all over the country began to openly despise those from Jin Ye City."

"Now that Divine Doctor Ye is taking up the mantle for the Jin Ye City Ancient Martial Circle and facing the martial artists from Flowing Cloud, it will surely make everyone nationwide see our circle in a new light."

Zhu Xiaowen asked, "Can Ye Xiu really stand up to the entire Flowing Cloud Ancient Martial Circle?"

"Absolutely no problem!" Song Penghui was very confident in Ye Xiu.

The other ten Eighth Grade Grandmasters felt the same. Zhu Xiaowen wasn’t a martial artist, so she didn’t understand how truly powerful Ye Xiu was. But they knew.

A Great Grandmaster couldn’t even break Song Penghui’s defense, yet Ye Xiu had shattered it in a single move, which clearly showed his power surpassed that of a Great Grandmaster. Furthermore, on the day Kuroki Suzu held her arena challenge at the stadium, Ye Xiu subdued her, a fighter who had reached the War God Level. That was more than enough proof that Ye Xiu’s strength was also at the War God Level.

「The next day」

At five in the morning, while Ye Xiu and Qin Qing were practicing their techniques, Zhu Xiaowen called. "Ye Xiu," she said, "Niu Tianci has already taken his men to Flowing Cloud Airport. He called to give me a final ultimatum, threatening that if I don’t hand you over, he’ll bring his people to Jin Ye City."

"Tell him I’ll be waiting for him at Qiancheng Farm," Ye Xiu said.

"Alright!"

After breakfast, Ye Xiu dropped Qin Qing off at Zhulu Group and then headed to Qiancheng Farm. At the entrance, he saw Tian Ye, the farm’s former owner, speaking with an impeccably dressed, middle-aged man.

"Divine Doctor Ye!" Seeing Ye Xiu arrive, Tian Ye’s face immediately darkened.

The day before, Ye Xiu had offered 7.5 billion to buy Qiancheng Farm and had even said he wanted to be friends, which had made Tian Ye ecstatic. Because of this, Tian Ye had grandly promised to fund the farm’s renovation himself. However, when Ye Xiu’s representative later explained the detailed renovation plan to him, Tian Ye was left speechless. The budget required for Ye Xiu’s renovation plan was exactly 1.5 billion. In other words, while Ye Xiu appeared to have spent 7.5 billion on Qiancheng Farm, he had effectively only spent 6 billion.

"Divine Doctor Ye? You’re Ye Xiu?" the middle-aged man next to Tian Ye asked in surprise upon hearing the title.

"And you are?" Ye Xiu inquired.

"My apologies, I forgot to introduce you," Tian Ye said hurriedly. "Divine Doctor Ye, this is the illustrious Di Shanxiong, the ’World’s Greatest Detective.’"

After Tian Ye’s introduction, Di Shanxiong puffed out his chest, a smug smile on his face. He waited for Ye Xiu to offer a handshake and say something along the lines of, "It’s an honor," or, "I’ve heard so much about you."

"Oh," Ye Xiu said flatly.

Oh? Di Shanxiong was taken aback. Is that it? Just ’oh’? No handshake? Not another word?

Feeling slighted, Di Shanxiong remarked sarcastically, "As expected of the famous Medicine King Xuanse. So high and mighty. What, you disdain even meeting someone like me?"

"That’s rich coming from you," Ye Xiu responded coldly. "Weren’t you the one who first decided that a mere doctor, so poor his pants were practically falling off, was unworthy of your friendship?"

"What nonsense are you spouting, Ye Xiu? When did I ever say that?" Di Shanxiong demanded angrily.

Standing nearby, Tian Ye was baffled; he certainly hadn’t heard Di Shanxiong say anything of the sort.

"Ten years ago, I was framed," Ye Xiu pressed. "I came to you for help finding out who did it, and you immediately demanded five million. When you learned I had no money, you humiliated me and threw me out. Have you forgotten?"

Di Shanxiong stood stunned. It took him a few minutes, but he finally recalled the incident. Ye Xiu really had come to him ten years ago; he had completely forgotten about it.

How embarrassing, and what a regret! If only I’d known he would make such a comeback, I would have helped him back then.

"You two can talk. I’m going inside," Ye Xiu said.

"Divine Doctor Ye, please wait a moment!" Tian Ye called out. "Detective Di is here today to investigate a case. Now that Qiancheng Farm is yours, he needs your cooperation."

"Tian Ye, you sold Qiancheng Farm to Ye Xiu?" Di Shanxiong asked, stunned.

"Yes," Tian Ye nodded.

Damn my luck, Di Shanxiong thought. Now that the farm belongs to Ye Xiu, who clearly holds a grudge against me, getting inside to investigate won’t be easy.

"Investigate a case?" Ye Xiu paused. "What case?"

"I was hired to investigate the murder of Dragon Hollyhock," Di Shanxiong said. "According to my client, Dragon Hollyhock came to Qiancheng Farm yesterday afternoon. The last call the client received was also from here, so I need to review the farm’s surveillance footage."

Ye Xiu’s brow furrowed. He had tricked Dragon Hollyhock into calling the Long Family specifically to lure them to Jin Ye City. He never expected the Long Family to be so cautious as to hire a detective to investigate the death instead of coming themselves.

Damn it! Ye Xiu fumed internally. Dragon Hollyhock died for nothing!

"Ye Xiu, take me to the surveillance room now!" Di Shanxiong ordered.

"Absolutely not," Ye Xiu refused flatly.

Di Shanxiong frowned. "As the owner of Qiancheng Farm, it’s your obligation to cooperate with my investigation."

"Private detectives aren’t officially recognized by the government in our country, are they?" Ye Xiu countered. "What authority do you have to order a citizen to cooperate with your investigation?"

"You..." Di Shanxiong was at a loss for words. He was right. Although Di Shanxiong was nationally recognized as the top detective, he held no real power. His private detective agency had never been authorized by the Official Family. In the past, simply stating his name was enough to get full cooperation, as almost no one dared to stand in his way. But if someone refused to cooperate, their refusal was perfectly reasonable and broke no laws.
