Medical and Martial God-Chapter 232: Spend All Family Wealth to Save a Life
THUD!
Gao Hongquan dropped to his knees, wailing, "I wouldn’t dare! I wouldn’t dare!"
How could he dare have any objections? His very life was still in Ye Xiu’s hands.
"It wouldn’t matter if you did," Ye Xiu said with a cold laugh, then shouted, "Su Mo, come over and pour my wine."
"Yes, yes, yes!"
Su Mo stumbled over, picking up the wine bottle with trembling hands to pour for Ye Xiu.
"Steady your hands," Ye Xiu said coolly. "If you spill a single drop, I’ll chop you into pieces."
Su Mo shuddered with fright. He took one deep breath, then a second, and a third, desperately trying to suppress the terror gripping him. Forcing his hands to steady, he slowly, carefully, poured the wine into Ye Xiu’s cup.
Only when the cup was full, and he confirmed that not a single drop had been spilled, did Su Mo let out a secret sigh of relief.
Ye Xiu drained the cup in a single gulp, set it back on the table, and said, "Fill it up again!"
Su Mo nearly collapsed. That was a five-ounce cup! He had assumed Ye Xiu would sip it slowly, giving his hands time to stop shaking. But Ye Xiu had downed it in one go!
"Pour it," Ye Xiu commanded.
"Yes, yes, yes!"
Su Mo hurriedly poured wine for Ye Xiu again.
"What are you all standing around for? Sit down and eat with me," Ye Xiu said with a smile as he surveyed the room.
"Yes, yes, yes!"
Everyone quickly took their seats and picked up their chopsticks.
But before they could begin, they heard Ye Xiu say, "Eat and drink your fill. This might be the last meal of your lives."
His words struck them dumb. No one had an appetite anymore.
"Eat!" Ye Xiu barked. "If there are any leftovers on any table, I will personally cut open the stomachs of everyone sitting there and stuff the food, bowls, and chopsticks right back inside."
Hearing this, everyone drew a sharp breath and immediately began to eat. They stuffed food into their mouths as if they hadn’t eaten in a hundred lifetimes.
Yet no one could taste a thing. Their hearts were already filled with terror, leaving no room to savor the delicacies.
The people at Ye Xiu’s own table didn’t move. He didn’t urge them, either; they could only eat after he had finished.
"Su Mo," Ye Xiu began, eating at a leisurely pace, "Yagyu Uemon gave you one billion gold. He told you to distribute it among everyone here so you could contact all the poor Martial Artists among the tens of thousands and bribe them to join forces against me. Why did you only bribe the Luo Po Sect?"
Everyone was stunned. They knew nothing about this; Su Mo had never told them.
"I... I... I..." Su Mo stammered, so frightened he could barely form a coherent sentence.
"Straighten your tongue out before you speak, or I’ll just cut it off," Ye Xiu said icily.
"I’ll talk! I’ll talk!" Su Mo cried out, struggling to keep his tongue from going stiff. "I wanted to keep the one billion gold for myself. I thought the Luo Po Sect would be enough to kill you, so I didn’t tell anyone else. I only contacted them."
"So greedy, even in the face of death," Ye Xiu sneered. "If you had done as Yagyu Uemon instructed and united all the poor Martial Artists against me, I admit it would have been difficult to handle. A pity. Your greed has doomed you and everyone else here."
Hearing this, Gao Hongquan and the others turned to glare at Su Mo, their eyes burning with a rage so fierce it was as if they wanted to devour him alive.
In their eyes, Su Mo was entirely to blame for their predicament. If only Su Mo had followed Yagyu Uemon’s plan, Ye Xiu would be dead by now!
"Su Mo, you old bastard, you’ve gotten us all killed!" Gao Hongquan scrambled to his feet, grabbed Su Mo by the collar, and roared.
"The person who doomed you isn’t Su Mo, but yourselves," Ye Xiu said, chewing on a shrimp he’d just picked up. "You reap what you sow. Ten years ago, I had no quarrel with any of you, yet you spent your money and effort trying to destroy me. You should have considered back then that if I survived, I would most certainly return for my revenge."
THUD!
Gao Hongquan knelt on the ground again. "Divine Doctor Ye, everything that happened back then was instigated by Su Mo! He was the mastermind. He’s the one who should die! I was just an accomplice; my crime doesn’t deserve death!"
Ma Renyi also dropped to his knees. "Back then, your medicine was sold so cheaply that all of my company’s products were being returned. My business was on the brink of collapse! It was Su Mo who approached me and instigated me to ruin you. I refused at first, but he threatened me! He said if I didn’t obey, he would destroy me..."
"Ma Renyi, you’re full of shit!" Su Mo roared. "When I came to you, I hadn’t even opened my mouth before you asked me if I had a way to get rid of Ye Xiu! Only then did I present the plan to destroy him."
"You’re the one who’s full of it! Divine Doctor Ye’s medicine may have been cheap, but he was serving the nation and its people! He’s a great philanthropist, a benefactor to us all. I admired him more than I can say, why would I want to harm him? You threatened me! You forced me into it!" Ma Renyi roared back.
"You..." Su Mo was practically sputtering with rage. "You... Ma Renyi... I never imagined you could be so shameless."
"You’re the shameless one! ’Medicine King Xuanse’? Bah! You’re not even fit to be a veterinarian!" Ma Renyi shot back.
Watching them snarl at each other like cornered dogs, Ye Xiu said flatly, "Stop arguing. None of you are leaving here alive."
The argument between Su Mo and Ma Renyi died instantly. Both men were paralyzed with fear. A clatter of chopsticks falling to the floor echoed through the banquet hall. Hearing Ye Xiu say that none of them would live, everyone panicked.
"Here," Ye Xiu said, taking out a bank card and slapping it on the table. "Transfer all the money from your personal accounts to this card, and I can let you live."
At the mention of survival, a glimmer of hope sparked within their despairing hearts.
To trade the money in their accounts for their lives and the lives of their families... it was worth it! After all, money from their personal accounts could be earned back. Their companies still existed, with plenty of funds in the corporate accounts. But if their lives were gone, everything would be lost!
"I’ll go first!" Su Mo snatched the bank card from the table and immediately started the transfer on his phone.
"If anyone dares to hold back a single penny," Ye Xiu added coolly, "and I find out, not one member of your family, old or young, will be spared."
No one said a word. Nor did any of them intend to hold anything back. Faced with Ye Xiu, no one dared to test their luck.
In an instant, every adult in the room was scrambling to transfer money to Ye Xiu.
Soon, the transfers were complete.
"Divine Doctor Ye, then... can we go now?" Gao Hongquan asked timidly.
"Go where?" Ye Xiu asked.
"Home, of course. You said you’d spare our lives if we transferred all the money in our accounts to you," Gao Hongquan said.
"I did say I’d spare your lives," Ye Xiu said with a smile, "but I never said you could go home. Hurry up and eat. When you’re finished, someone will be here to take you to the City of Asura."
Go to the City of Asura?
Everyone was dumbfounded.
