Mercenary's War-Chapter 2103 - 2080: A Precious Gift
Cui Bo delayed for two days because he and Lilia seemed a bit reluctant to part, so Gao Yang once again thought Lilia might change her mind and wouldn’t return to Ukraine, but he was wrong again.
Seeing Cui Bo, Lilia, and Phoenix again, Cui Bo looked very dejected. It’s hard to accept sending your girlfriend to the battlefield, after all.
Now Gao Yang was somewhat in awe of Lilia. A moment of anger means nothing, but to still be willing to give up everything and stick to her decision after all this time, that’s rare.
"Have you really decided to go to Ukraine?"
Lilia nodded calmly, "Yes, I want to return to Ukraine."
"I hope you won’t regret it."
"I might regret it, but even if I do, I have to go back."
Gao Yang glanced at the dejected Cui Bo behind Lilia and couldn’t help but sigh, saying in Chinese, "Rabbit, you’re useless. You couldn’t even sort this out, and you still have the audacity to pull a long face."
Cui Bo replied helplessly in a low voice, "Can’t help it, she’s too stubborn."
Gao Yang clapped his hands hard and said helplessly, "Alright, Lilia, we’ll send you to Ukraine."
After saying this to Lilia, Gao Yang looked at Cui Bo, then Phoenix, and shrugged, "Though it’s none of my business, I still want to ask, Lilia is qualified as a sniper now?"
"Uh, well, how should I say..."
Unlike Cui Bo’s hesitation, Phoenix straightforwardly said, "No."
Cui Bo sighed and said, "That’s right, she’s correct."
Gao Yang simply stopped asking Cui Bo and directly asked Phoenix, "Then do you think she can go to the battlefield?"
"Looking for death."
Gao Yang couldn’t help but rub his forehead and then said with a wry smile, "Oh, not an unexpected answer. So, during these days you were with her, did you bring up the issue that she can’t go back as a sniper?"
Phoenix said flatly, "She speaks Russian, I speak English, we couldn’t communicate."
Gao Yang sighed and looked at Cui Bo, "Rabbit, could you be any less reliable in this matter?"
Cui Bo suddenly got angry, jumped up, pointed at Lilia and said angrily, "What can I do? What else can I do? She’s stubborn, you’ve seen it yourself. Do I break her legs or tie her up?"
"Breaking her legs isn’t bad; better than letting her die."
Phoenix suddenly spoke, causing Gao Yang and Cui Bo to quiet down, then they watched as Phoenix lectured them for once.
"If you can’t do it, I can. Crack, crack, break her legs, the world’s more peaceful, your troubles are gone."
Cui Bo instinctively looked at Lilia’s long legs, then shook his head, "No, no way."
Lilia asked curiously, "You seem to be discussing me, what are you talking about?"
Gao Yang coughed and said, "Stop, let’s face reality, Rabbit, it’s not that I won’t help you, but if someone insists on doing something stupid, no one can stop them. I still admire Lilia’s spirit, but, well, you know what I mean, really powerless here."
Cui Bo replied weakly, "Got it, let her be."
Gao Yang clapped his hands again and said to Phoenix, "As our employee, you’ll be sent to Ukraine."
Phoenix replied indifferently, "It’s the same everywhere."
Gao Yang cleared his throat and awkwardly said, "But you have another task, which is to train her."
Phoenix glanced at Lilia and immediately said without hesitation, "No."
Before Gao Yang could say more, Phoenix continued, "If it’s an order, I opt out."
No more discussion. After a moment of silence, Gao Yang said to Phoenix, "How about this, you don’t train her, just take her with you, no demands on you, whether she learns anything from you is up to her."
Phoenix slowly shook her head and said softly, "No."
Afterward, Phoenix added, "I’m not a nanny."
Gao Yang compromised again, speaking softly, "Alright, treat her as your assigned assistant shooter, you’re not responsible for her, let her follow your commands, okay?"
"Alright."
This time Phoenix agreed without hesitation, then she said again, "I will try not to let her die. As for subordinates, I’m obligated to protect them."
Gao Yang breathed a sigh of relief, pointed at Phoenix, and then turned to Cui Bo, "Have you prepared anything?"
"Yes, scope, night vision device, batteries, walkie-talkie, body armor, I’ve given her everything I could. As for the gun, I wanted to ask Jack to get a better one, but there’s not enough time, so I plan to give her one from my collection."
Gao Yang raised his hand and smiled, "Speaking of guns, Lilia, I have a gift for you."
Turning, he took a gun case from the car trunk, brought it to Lilia, and opened it, saying solemnly, "This gun, I captured from a sniper, she’s female, very strong, one of the strongest snipers I’ve seen. I admire your courage, though I don’t think your action is pointless and foolish self-sacrifice, but! I still admire you, so I want to give you this gun, hoping you become as great a sniper as its previous owner."
Indeed, Gao Yang planned to give Specter’s gun to Lilia.
After Lilia accepted the gun, overwhelmed and honored, Gao Yang said seriously, "The gun’s previous owner saved her comrades, so even though she was an enemy, I admired and respected her very much, but it must be said, the gun’s previous owner is now dead."
Lilia first nodded, then shook her head, and said excitedly, "It doesn’t matter, I don’t care about these things, I am very grateful that you’re giving me such a precious gift, I will strive to prove worthy of this gun."
Cui Bo reached his hand towards Gao Yang, expressing helplessness, but Phoenix suddenly said, "May I see the gun?"
Gao Yang gestured for Lilia to hand the gun over, then he gave it to Phoenix, who examined it a bit, worked the bolt a few times, and then nodded, handing the gun back to Gao Yang.
Gao Yang said, looking exasperated, "Don’t you want to say something? Or explain anything?"
Phoenix pursed her lips and then nodded, "Alright, I recognize this gun."
