Mercenary's War-Chapter 48 - Morgan’s Power
48: Chapter 48 Morgan’s Power
48 -48 Morgan’s Power
After a burst of laughter from the people on the truck, the black man waved to the crowd and pointed at Glolov, “Suma, for the sake of the good news he brought, take a look and see if this guy can be saved?”
A black man crouched in front of Glolov, lifted his clothes, pressed around the wound with his hand, then looked up at Gao Yang and asked, “What kind of gun was he shot with?”
Gao Yang hadn’t expected that there would be a medic on the truck willing to help, which made him overjoyed.
He quickly replied, “He was hit by an M4 at close range, around two o’clock last night, I think.”
The black man nodded and said, “His condition isn’t too good, but it’s not too bad either; at least his abdominal cavity wasn’t turned into a mess by the bullet, so he can hold on for a while longer.
Don’t let him drink any water.
If you can find a hospital and get surgery within twelve hours, he should be able to make it.
That’s provided you find a good surgeon, though.
I don’t have any first aid drugs here, so there’s nothing more I can do for you.”
Hearing that there was still hope for Glolov, Gao Yang’s heart relaxed a little.
With sincere gratitude, he said to the black men, “Thank you, thank you so much.”
The black man waved his hand and said, “We’re all free mercenaries.
Any of us could end up like this; we should help each other.
My name is Abdurahman Ahmed Ali, but you can call me Ali.
Most of us here come from Somalia.
We’re not a mercenary group, but we get together to look for work.
How about you two?
I see you’re both snipers.
If possible, we could work together, watch each other’s backs.”
After introducing Glolov and Cui Bo to Ali, Gao Yang shook hands with him and said, “I’m very thankful for everything you’ve done.
I think there will definitely be an opportunity for us to work together.”
Gao Yang was only being polite, but Ali replied earnestly, “Sure, there will be a chance.
We don’t have snipers.
If you’d join us, that would be great.”
“Where are you guys heading?”
“We’re heading to Tripoli.
Benghazi has completely fallen, and most of the government forces have joined the opposition.
We received an order this morning; all the mercenaries are to head to Tripoli.
It looks like they’re forming a large mercenary group.
But right now, we don’t know what the pay is going to be like.
Do you?”
Gao Yang shook his head and said, “We don’t know either.”
Ali pursed his lips and remarked, “Gaddafi ‘s days are tough now.
I think he’ll have to pay a lot, so we followed the withdrawing convoy.
Otherwise, we would have stayed in Benghazi to work for the opposition.”
Listening to Ali, Gao Yang breathed a sigh of relief.
Afraid of revealing too much and that Ali would notice they weren’t on the government’s side, Gao Yang had been cautious not to say too much.
But after hearing Ali’s words, he realized why they hadn’t been probed; it seemed no one really cared.
Gao Yang smiled and said, “Yeah, I think the government forces will undoubtedly offer more than the opposition.
Going to Tripoli is the right choice.”
After saying this, Gao Yang felt odd; he had first helped the opposition against government forces, then turned to fight against the opposition, and now, it looked like they were about to switch sides to the government forces again.
This war was indeed chaotic.
Seeing Glolov had passed out again, although someone said Glolov could hold on a bit longer, Gao Yang’s heart tightened again.
Cui Bo took off his jacket and covered Glolov with it, then said to Gao Yang with concern, “Brother Yang, what did they say about the Old Russian?
And where are they going?”
It was then that Gao Yang remembered he hadn’t informed Cui Bo of the situation.
After telling Cui Bo, he nodded and said, “That’s good, lucky break.
Besides Benghazi, Tripoli is the only place with bigger hospitals, but the hospitals in Libya are not so great.
Are the doctors there any good?”
Gao Yang turned to Ali and asked, “Are you familiar with Tripoli?
Do you know any hospitals with good doctors there?”
Ali shook his head and said, “I don’t know; I’m not at all familiar with Libya; I don’t even know where Tripoli is.
But I asked around.
By nightfall, we’ll be in Tripoli.
Once we get off, I can help you inquire.
Hm, are you interested in my proposal?
If you decide to continue fighting, we can request to be assigned together.”
With an apologetic expression, Gao Yang replied, “I’m sorry, we need to take care of him.
We definitely can’t fight for a while; but as long as we’re still in combat, we’ll for sure be with you.”
Ali’s smile was radiant, revealing a mouthful of white teeth, “That would be wonderful.
We’d love to have a sniper.
If you’d join us, that would be great.”
Gao Yang was no longer in the mood to talk to Ali.
They wouldn’t arrive in Tripoli until nightfall, but Glolov might not last that long.
After a moment’s hesitation, Gao Yang took out the satellite phone from his backpack and dialed the number Morgan had given him.
When the call got through, an unfamiliar voice answered.
“Hello, who’s this?”
“Hello, my name is Gao Yang; Mr.
Morgan told me to call this number.”
After a moment of silence, the voice responded gravely, “Mr.
Morgan has spoken to me.
I’ll help you as much as I can.
Tell me, what do you need?
But I am in Tripoli, and it’s quite possible I won’t be able to get to Benghazi.”
“That’s great, I’m on my way to Tripoli now.
Here’s the thing; one of our men has been shot, hit in the abdomen, it’s serious.”
“Understood.
I will arrange everything.
Where are you now, and how much longer until you arrive?”
“We just left Benghazi, not far out.
We’re on a truck; we should reach Tripoli around nightfall.
Is there any way to get us there faster?
I’m afraid my friend won’t last much longer,” Gao Yang replied.
After a pause, the voice came back, “Get off when you pass Ajdabiya.
There will be a car waiting for you there.
It will arrive within an hour at most.
Get on the car, then it will take you to the airport.
From there, you’ll fly to Tripoli, and I will be at the airport to meet you.
I’ll call you in ten minutes to tell you the rendezvous point.”
Gao Yang hung up the phone in daze, then gave Cui Bo a small smile and said, “You and your crow’s mouth actually called it right this time; it’s a close shave without danger.
Mr.
Morgan is really reliable.
The Old Russian is saved!”
