MIGHT AS WELL BE OP-Chapter 554: Bounty
Chapter 554: Bounty
Seeing the score on the scoreboard, Anthony smiled as he patted Vega’s shoulder and spoke,
"It seems this is my win, Vee. You should come learn from me. My teaching rates are low," Anthony teased.
"Hmph. Why would I want to learn from someone who cheated?" Vega replied with a snort.
Anthony was missing one thousand four hundred points because he had left fourteen sky arrow targets for Vega to shoot while he took sixteen, meaning each arrow target was worth one hundred points.
Meanwhile, Vega had lost no less than two thousand three hundred points because she had shot and missed several targets, thus losing additional points as a penalty.
"Do you want to go again?" Anthony asked, a smile spreading across his face.
"No need," Vega simply replied, waving her hand in decline.
"Don’t be such a sore loser, Vee. I told you not to cry when you lose at your own game," Anthony replied, reminding Vega of his earlier words.
"How much do you charge to teach, then?" Vega asked with a smirk. She had never expected Anthony to be this good with a bow. She was genuinely surprised.
She wasn’t asking Anthony’s teaching rates to actually learn, she was an archer herself. She just hadn’t expected Anthony to shoot two arrows at once in that particular moment with such deadly accuracy.
"Since this is your first class, I’ll give you a discount, just a kiss," Anthony replied calmly, his smile ever-present.
Vega was caught off guard by Anthony’s words, but her reply came swiftly.
"I guess without a discount, we’d need a bed, right...?" she said with a teasing tone.
Anthony was left speechless at her words. He didn’t know what to say as his lips twitched slightly in reaction.
"Hmph. All men are the same," Vega muttered, turning to walk forward.
Anthony simply shook his head and followed behind her.
Anthony had never truly explored the Human Domain. He had only ever been driven around once in a while by Patrick, their butler, and they never stopped anywhere along the road.
After awakening, he had gone straight to Omni-Peak Academy. Then came the bloodbath. Then came the start of his life as an adventurer, then a whole century of training. After that came the Starborn Tournament, followed by a direct enlistment in the military, where he spent an entire year training. That led to the war, which ultimately caused the fall of a base.
Anthony had simply been moving from one thing to another, never stopping long enough to explore or relax. He hadn’t truly experienced the Human Domain for what it was. But it seemed like Vega had, as she began listing various places they could visit.
And they were completely normal places.
Anthony and Vega visited a museum, something Anthony had never even thought of doing in either his past life or this current one.
Inside, Anthony looked at the supposed precious and rare artifacts on display. He didn’t know what to say. These so-called treasures could easily be found anywhere in a military base or even within the Academy.
But it was understandable.
The people inside the museum were all of the Mortal rank. The strongest among them was just an S-rank, someone Anthony could kill with a mere thought.
Yet, everyone here fawned over artifacts that were only at the Paragon rank. People even took pictures and copied documents. Anthony could clearly see the longing in their eyes, the pure desire.
Anthony understood the way these people saw these things. Those who were truly powerful hardly ever made themselves known. They were either off-world, residing on other planets, or isolated in grand castles on the Blue Planet. Even if they did make themselves known, the lifespans of regular mortals were too short for it to truly matter.
After walking around for a while, Anthony and Vega moved to the next location on her list: an aquarium.
At this point, it was already 1 a.m., but the streets still bustled with activity. Lights shone like it was midday. People in this world could survive several days without sleep or food.
There were no strict time constraints when it came to day or night. Many shops stayed open twenty-four-seven, allowing customers to come and go as they pleased.
Anthony watched various fish swim behind glass tanks. He had never cared much for aquatic life, what he did know was how fish tasted once they were fried or boiled. Anything beyond that? He had no idea. But Vega knew all about them. She pointed and explained each one like a dedicated marine biologist.
Anthony had no idea that despite her power and talent, Vega had still lived a somewhat normal life, visiting places like this one.
Anthony smiled occasionally, asking questions, and Vega happily answered them. His mind drifted back to his past life, where he had fantasized about going on a date with his girlfriend, shopping, swimming, maybe a trip to the aquarium. Shaking his head, he decided to forget the past and focus on the present.
After about an hour, they left. Vega picked their next destination, an auction house. Anthony had never been to one before. He and Vega sat in a private VIP booth where no one could see their faces from other booths or the floor below.
Together, they started outbidding everyone purely for sport.
If someone bid a million quarks, they bid two million.
If someone raised the bid to three million, they jumped to six.
They were there to show off and enjoy the chaos, laughing together as people gawked.
At one point, a young master asked Vega to back down from a bid, citing his family name and adding a subtle threat. Vega didn’t even blink, she simply placed a bounty on his head as a bid for a billion quarks, right there on the spot.
No one doubted her wealth. In this auction house, once you outbid someone on any item, you were required to pay immediately and collect the item before the auction could proceed.
And both Vega and Anthony paid every time, though they left the items with the auction manager. After all, what would they do with such things? They were only there to play games of mind and money.
And just like that, the peaceful auction turned into a bloodbath for a billion. The young master was killed on the spot. Blood flowed across the floor.
As for Anthony and Vega, they quietly slipped out.
Anthony had already instructed his OP system to transfer the billion quarks to whoever killed the young master, if they were still alive, that is.
Now, Vega and Anthony sat in Anthony’s sleek black car, laughter echoing between them. They talked about everything, things they remembered, things they still wanted to do, and where they would go next.
Their destination?
The Null Estate.
