Chapter 1641: Chapter 88: Journey on the Surface (Part 3)

"No, they’re guests from out of town." The uncle said as he walked into the house and brought out a heavy metal box for storage, putting it in the truck.

"I’ve fixed your stuff. It’s an old thing, after all, so take it easy when you use it later."

"Alright, I got it. I’ll come to the shop for the money later." The driver replied skillfully.

"Wait a minute." The uncle called him back.

"What’s up?"

"These two guests want you to give them a lift to the city to have a look around." The uncle pointed to Tilan and Prin beside him. They had already toured the small town and were ready to see a bigger place.

"Tourists?" The driver suspiciously glanced at the two young-looking figures. Due to their Transcendent status, Prin still looked around twenty years old.

"Okay, remember to give me fare money." The driver raised his hand, signaling the two to get in the car.

If they were ordinary girls, they might fear the driver taking them to some unknown corner, but Prin and Tilan were both Top Rank Transcendents, not to mention their communication devices could summon military forces to the scene in under three minutes, so they weren’t afraid of such trivial matters.

The two, filled with a bit of curiosity, climbed into the back seat of the truck, where there was still the lingering smell of sweat and grease.

Despite the poor conditions, they weren’t the kind of pampered girls, and soon their attention shifted to the scenery rapidly retreating outside the car window.

In the vast wilderness, oddly shaped rock formations jutted out. Occasionally, one could see rusty buildings atop these rocks, seemingly radar and communication stations, and some were rusted huts.

Due to rusting, the once contrasting buildings now blended with the surrounding environment, making them hard to distinguish.

"What are those buildings?" Prin asked out of rare curiosity.

"Oh, those, they’re very ancient things. If you trace them back, they’re probably from the Fourth Era." The driver turned his attention to them.

"You don’t know? I thought you came here to tour and specifically see these. After all, apart from these rusty old relics, there isn’t much else in this broken place."

"The Fourth Era?" Prin wanted to know more.

"That’s right, the Fourth Era." The driver twisted the steering wheel to avoid large stones in the road before continuing.

"It’s said that after leaving Earth, the early era of fleet exploration into the Universe, a colonial fleet landed on this planet and began construction and environmental transformation."

"Don’t look down on it now. In ancient times, it was an important industrial planet." He said casually. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"See those differently red-colored rocks? They’re all iron ores. Almost the entire planet’s land is made of iron ore; a little smelting turns them into steel. In the early Fourth Era, a planet like this was certainly an industrial hub, manufacturing all kinds of colonial ships, construction materials, and industrial products."

"Although not much water is on the planet, the local wealthy people back then even bathed using imported natural water."

"Why use natural water instead of pure water? Well, the former had high enough prestige, and everyone could afford it. They were extravagant, you know." The driver casually swung the steering wheel, more like playing a real-life driving game than just driving. Middle-aged people indeed have few pleasures.

The journey continued with intermittent chats until they reached a seemingly abandoned city up ahead.

Many buildings here were weathered and corroded, with some high-rise structures appearing like only their skeletons remained, gently swaying in the air. The wind whistled through them. As for the lower buildings, they still had vitality with various new and old signs. There were tens of thousands of people living here, and on the streets, you could see some young people and even students.

"Here we are." The driver stopped the car.

"I have to deliver the goods later, so you can get off here. If you want to explore around, you might want to hire a guide and try to find accommodation in the city center for better conditions."

"Thank you." Tilan nodded in gratitude, while Prin’s attention had long been captured by the street scenery.

Here, you can see quite old and simple traditional clothing. That dark red woven shawl full of holes looked like it was left by a great-grandmother. But on the other hand, you could also see the latest fashion and electronic products from the Federation. Many things the young people discussed were not far behind the Federation’s mainstream.

A harmonious presentation of an old and modern clashing style appeared here, and no one seemed to find it odd, as if that was how it naturally should be.

"A very interesting place." Prin flexed her fingers, making a slight cracking sound.

"Shall we get a guide first?" Tilan asked Prin beside her.

"Sure, let’s go." Prin took one last look at the chaotic mix of new and old streets and followed Tilan.
