Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva-Chapter 404 - 142 The Flower of the White Kite
Hexia stayed until the evening, during which she took a stroll in the valley with Mel, admiring the scenery and encountering a variety of Transcendent animals kept by the locals.
In the evening, Mrs. Heather brought the two of them to a cliffside restaurant in the gorge for dinner. The restaurant faced a cliff with expansive views, and the evening breeze was cool and comfortable. Inside, it wasn’t uncommon to see local residents gathered for various celebrations, creating a lively atmosphere.
"Come, Hexia, you should try this. This is our local Tide Moon shellfish, and it has a very nice texture," Mrs. Heather suggested, pointing at a newly served dish on the table, which included five wave-shaped shells emitting a faint aroma of steam.
Upon opening a shell, the flesh inside was cooked through and seasoned with just the right amount of spices.
"Because it’s a specially cultivated variety, it has no fishy smell, and its texture is smooth and creamy. It’s very popular. The only downside is that it demands high water quality and doesn’t yield a large amount, so it isn’t widely farmed elsewhere," Mrs. Heather explained.
"Thank you, Mrs. Heather," Hexia and Mel each took one and began to eat delicately.
The night breeze was gentle, and the three of them chatted about amusing anecdotes while enjoying dinner. From a distance, laughter and the clinking of glasses could be heard, neither too noisy nor too quiet.
"Tonight, Hexia, you can stay here. Tomorrow, I’ll have Mel pick out some souvenirs for you to take back."
"This, thank you, Mrs. Heather," initially, Hexia instinctively wanted to decline, but considering whether that might seem distant and unfriendly, she accepted the offer.
"Alright, no need for formalities. These things aren’t worth much anyway, giving them to you is just a small gesture of my kindness," Mrs. Heather easily dispelled Hexia’s concerns, speaking with ease.
"Meow~"
As the three of them were chatting leisurely, a grey-blue cat approached the girl’s legs, rubbing against them with a pleasing meow, its tail brushing against the girl’s legs and causing a ticklish sensation.
"Hiss, hiss." From the shadows at their feet, a large spider emerged, staring at the unfamiliar cat that had suddenly appeared and making a warning noise, which frightened the cat into jumping up and landing on Hexia’s knee beside her.
"Ah." The girl was surprised by the sudden appearance of the cat, and she quickly placed a hand on its nape to prevent it from hopping onto the table and knocking over the dishes.
"Okay, okay, don’t scare it," Hexia soothed the cat in her arms, bending down to speak to the large spider at her feet.
However, the big spider still seemed reluctant, watching the grey-blue cat held still by the girl and making a slightly aggrieved hissing sound, as if to say, "You’re holding it, not me."
Fortunately, this situation didn’t last long before a visibly flustered waiter ran over. Seeing the cat in Hexia’s arms, he bent over to apologize immediately.
"I’m sorry, this is our cat, and I apologize for disturbing your meal," he said.
"It’s okay."
After hearing this, the girl lifted the cat and handed it over to the waiter. The cat looked at the steamy large shellfish on the table, meowed a few times out of longing, and then was taken away by the waitress, her eyes covered, and cradled apologetically in her arms.
"I’m really sorry for the disturbance," the waiter apologized again before taking the grey cat away, the soft scolding and patting suggesting that the grey-blue cat might face some reprimand upon returning. Your next journey awaits at novelbuddy
"Such a cute kitty," Mel said, looking at the cat being carried away feeling a bit reluctant to let it go.
With the cat taken away, the large spider by Hexia’s feet seemed to be in an especially good mood, circling around her feet before jumping into her arms to lie down, giving off an impression that it was there to stay.
"Ah, you..."
Hexia lightly patted it twice but couldn’t bring herself to be too harsh. To the large spider, the pat was neither painful nor itchy, so she could only let it be.
During dinner, Hexia savored the rare and fresh food. Occasionally, she would break off small pieces to feed the large spider in her arms and the Indigo Snake on the chair beside her; both creatures were not ones to refuse.
Watching Hexia interact with them, Mrs. Heather across the table revealed a tender smile, reminiscing vaguely through the mist in her eyes about similar scenes that seemed all too familiar from long ago.
"Eat more, don’t be too strict with them," she said with a smile, then picked up her warm cup of wine, sipping it gently and gazing out at the night sky through the window.
The moonlight scattered on distant mountains, with a few drifting clouds passing clearly in the sky.
"Such a beautiful age..."
The sweet and tranquil time quietly passed, and by the time Hexia left the valley, it was the afternoon of the next day.
Standing on the platform with Mel, they waved to Mrs. Heather and several familiar residents below, then boarded the arriving tram to return to the campus in Northern First District.
Sitting in the train seat, Hexia leaned against the window, her gaze fixed on the swiftly passing landscape outside. Sunshine fell upon her eyelashes, and the shadows under her bangs were sharply divided, constantly sweeping across her beautiful face submerged in the summer breeze.
What a beautiful and wonderful life it was. Beyond the Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain was such a vast world. After listening to Mrs. Heather’s experiences, Hexia felt much anticipation and imagination, dreaming about what landscapes she would encounter in the future, which new friends she would meet, and what kind of life she would live.
If the past years, living underground, her family’s misfortunes, and the overall decline of the Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain had shaded her life perception with thick clouds, then the conversation with Mrs. Heather from the last two days was like opening a window amidst the clouds, offering a glimpse of another world outside.
Unconsciously, her mood brightened considerably, and she no longer felt as anxious as before.
Suddenly yearning to record this feeling and anticipation, Hexia sneakily retrieved paper and pencils from the storage space under the table. Then, she brought them to the table and used colorful drawing pens to sketch out the world she imagined.
It was the Snow Orchid Star Domain that Mrs. Heather had described, Sea Shell α-3 star, with enchanting landscapes.
In one corner of the drawing was a sloping field of flowers. Among the light green grass, a multitude of White Kites blossomed, with their pure white, lengthy petals and soft yellow centers. On the opposite corner of the sea of flowers, several young, hazy figures joined hands and danced in circles, seemingly emanating laughter and joy from there. The background sky was exceptionally clear and blue, without a hint of impurity.
Even though Hexia knew she could find images of Snow Orchid Star Domain on the Star Web, she resisted the urge to search and kept this fantasy within her heart and on the paper, probably because maintaining this pure anticipation provided the motivation to explore and travel there.
Sitting beside her seat, Mel, holding a Gray Moon Cat, was dozing off peacefully, both person and cat bathed in brilliant sunshine, looking especially warm and cozy.
After finishing the drawing, the girl lifted the not-too-large sheet of paper, examining it through the sunlight. As the shadows outside the window shifted, the scenery and characters in the drawing seemed to come to life, inspiring one’s imagination about their beauty.
Putting down the drawing, Hexia looked at the large spider sprawled on the table and, on a whim, lifted one of its legs, daubed a little pink paint on it, and gently pressed it into an unobtrusive corner of the canvas to leave a unique stamp, writing the date beside it.

With that, her masterpiece was complete, and a lively voice seemed to cheer in her heart. She then rolled up the painting and tucked it into her secret sketchbook.
