Miss Witch's Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 275: Scarlett’s Musical Instrument
"It's time to go back."
Loren looked at the moon, which remained high in the sky, not moving an inch, only changing from full to crescent.
The moon here wasn't the real moon, merely a manifestation of the authority of the night, something stripped from the true moon, which was why the moon had gone mad.
"Mhm."
Anna was still clinging tightly to Loren. At Anna's strong insistence, Loren had stopped carrying her like a child and switched to carrying her in a princess carry.
Surrounded by ravens, the two slowly descended to the ground, the scene carrying a rather poignant beauty.
They landed on the hotel rooftop. Loren set Anna down, took her hand, and walked towards their room.
Anna kept smiling, exceptionally happy at this moment.
Among all the witches, she was the only true child, so she alone could be utterly spoiled and act cute without restraint.
"Master, I saw someone attacking a lone vampire."
After returning home, Movila suddenly shared new information with Loren. If it were just a vampire being hunted by Monster Hunters, Movila probably wouldn't have gone out of her way to tell Loren. She knew what information was useful and what wasn't.
"What exactly happened?"
"There was an ordinary person. He ambushed a vampire from behind. His method of attack was... strangulation.
"He found a rope, desperately tightened it around the vampire's neck, and pinned him to the ground."
The combat power between humans and vampires was worlds apart. Without something that countered vampires, an ordinary person couldn't possibly defeat one. That person was probably just backed into a corner with nothing left, transforming into a desperate man, willing to do anything to strike at a vampire.
"I guess Aisaco's next plan is about to begin."
Loren lay down on the sofa. Starnight landed on his head the moment he returned.
Regarding this, Loren simply had Gwen leave. His main body didn't take much action. The only thing he was wary of was that pit full of corpses. He couldn't be bothered with other matters. After all, his contract with Ofemia was already completed.
As Loren was thinking, Scarlett suddenly walked behind him and began massaging his shoulders.
Her technique was terrible, her strength weak; it still felt more like harassment.
"What are you suddenly doing?"
Unsolicited flattery always has an ulterior motive. Scarlett acting like this meant she definitely wanted something.
Loren guessed Scarlett wanted him to take her flying. She was quite interested in these novel experiences.
Compared to Mirrorheart and Laila, Scarlett's needs in *that* area were much smaller. It was mostly Mirrorheart dragging her into duos, so it was unlikely she wanted *that* this time.
"Master, teach me a musical instrument."
"Why do you want to learn an instrument?"
Scarlett had little talent and couldn't learn magic. Music was the foundation of magic, so Loren didn't think she could grasp music.
"I saw how cool Naclis looked when she was performing... I want to play together with them too..."
"That's the reason...?"
This did fit Scarlett's persona. Since she had finally taken the initiative to ask to learn something, Loren couldn't very well refuse.
"What do you want to learn? Piano? Violin? Guitar? Bamboo flute?"
"Too hard... Is there anything simpler?"
Scarlett looked troubled. She thought about it and didn't believe she could learn those things.
"Then I'll teach you drums, a recorder, or a harmonica." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"I've tried those too... My hands would start fighting..."
Scarlett's voice grew quieter as she spoke; she also felt she was being a bit too much.
Loren didn't say anything to this. He just silently walked into the room storing the musical instruments. The hotel, knowing Loren's hobby, had prepared many instruments in his room.
When Loren came out, he was holding two maracas.
"These are for you. Just shake them every now and then."
If they really were to form a band, Scarlett's position would probably be fetching takeout.
Usually, saying the bassist fetches takeout is just a joke, but as the maraca player, fetching takeout would genuinely be Scarlett's greatest contribution.
"Yay!"
Scarlett completely missed Loren's sarcasm towards her. Happily taking the maracas, she ran over next to Naclis and started shaking them.
Naclis took several deep breaths to suppress the urge to punch Scarlett.
"Another beautiful day..."
After dealing with Scarlett, Loren slumped back onto the sofa, opened a bag of snacks, and enjoyed being fed by Starnight.
"Master, that attacked vampire died."
Loren had been very relaxed, but upon hearing Movila's news, he suddenly sat up.
"How did he die? He couldn't have been strangled to death, could he?"
A vampire's physical constitution was right there. The rope might snap before it could strangle a vampire.
"Yes. He was strangled to death. Just like that."
"..."
Loren fell silent for a moment, then grabbed Starnight, stroking its back with his thumb.
He quickly thought of something. The new drug Aisaco developed was currently selling hot, a special supply for vampires.
Loren didn't believe there wasn't something in it specifically targeting vampires.
"Looks like I need to investigate again..."
Having figured this out, Loren lay back on the sofa. He wasn't too concerned; these things were within his expectations.
The previous drug had already addicted the vampires. The new drug was even more addictive; the vampires would only become more dependent.
By then, even if they realized the drug was harmful, they wouldn't be able to stop using it.
Loren was just curious about the upper limit of this drug. If it could allow an ordinary vampire to be killed by a human, could it make a vampire Marquis be instantly killed by ultraviolet light?
Loren remembered there was a Marquis named Selika who really liked these drugs.
Upon learning Loren had returned, Lilith emerged from her little room, sat next to Loren, and leaned against him.
During this period of interaction, Loren had come to understand Lilith's personality. She was very withdrawn, didn't like being with others, and usually hid in her little room.
However, Loren was an exception. She loved clinging to him. As long as Loren was home, she would definitely stick to his side. When Loren went out, she would lock herself in her little room, not communicating with anyone.
So much so that Mirrorheart had no chance to teach her.
These past few days, the spot next to Loren had been monopolized by Lilith. Perhaps Lilith was the oldest among them, starting at several hundred years old, but even Anna treated her like a younger sister and didn't compete with her for the spot.
It was the same even when sleeping at night. Loren's bed could fit three people. One spot was already monopolized by Lilith, another spot was randomly occupied, though it was Anna most of the time.
Ever since more and more people came to Loren's home, Naclis rarely asked Loren to sleep with her anymore. After coming to Uridia, she hadn't done so even once.
Loren also felt he might have been a bit neglectful of Naclis. He knew Naclis's personality well. She liked to act aloof, act strong, but in reality, her heart was very sensitive.
