Chapter 505 Securing the key
?'If I can't enter the realm even by convincing the two elders, then the area must be sealed, and she has the key to open it,' Alex thought, analyzing her words to ensure there were no hidden lies.
'But her demand is a bit of a problem,' Alex thought, understanding her demand to kill the two Elders was anything but easy.
While he had many high-ranking scrolls capable of one-shotting an Elemental Ruler, they needed to hit their mark to be effective, and a strong individual would be foolish not to flee when his very life was in danger.
So giving a scroll to an Elemental Ruler to kill his rival was one thing, but doing it himself was a completely different matter.
"I believe you have an item capable of neutralizing an Elemental Ruler, if not capable of outright killing one,"
"This is also the reason why you are roaming so freely, avoiding groups but not hiding your tracks well enough that even a decent tracker wouldn't have difficulty locating you."
"So tell me, what exactly does this item of yours do? Can it trap an Elemental Ruler, strengthen one, or could it kill one?" She asked, her cold, emotionless voice carrying an unsettling chill.
'She must have a history with those two elders,' Alex thought, realizing that her voice, devoid of emotions but laced with killing intent, spoke of a dark past between her and the Morvoren clan elders, if not the entire clan.
"I have a few, but they all require time to activate. While each one could kill one or even multiple Elemental Rulers, the few seconds the stored spell would need to take effect would be tenfold enough for an Elemental Ruler to escape," Alex said, noticing a brief flicker of happiness on her face that vanished as quickly as it appeared.
"Before we discuss this matter further, let's introduce ourselves,"
"I am Aeon," Alex said, extending his hand.
"There's no need for us to get acquainted. Just give me the magic item capable of killing the two clan elders, and I will give you the key and the location of the ancestral realm portal," She stated bluntly, not even bothering to ask him to take an oath to prove his words.
"I don't know how she will deal with two old monsters, but that is not my problem," Alex thought, happy with the offered deal.
"Deal," Alex said, handing her a plain dark scroll. It was a middle-stage Eight-rank Darkness element scroll capable of reducing even multiple early-stage Elemental Rulers to dust.
Alex was intrigued by her ability to create illusions that pushed the boundaries of the Sixth rank and how the faceless clones could replicate his techniques to such a great extent.
But seeing she was clearly not interested in engaging in conversation, he decided it was better not to inquire.
"The realm entrance will open in nineteen days, and its location is in the center of the Stormborn Apex,"
"Once the entrance portal appears, it will invoke the dormant Wind Law of the Stormborn Apex, creating an apex storm around the entrance portal that would turn anyone below an Elemental Ruler to meat paste in mere seconds,"
"This ring, a family heirloom created from the heart-blood of the Great Boreas, the Frostwind Colossus, could create a barrier that will grant you a safe passage to the portal,"
"It is currently bound to me, so you should wait for me near the entrance on the day of the realm opening, but in case I die, then you are free to use it to fulfill your goal," She said, as she calmly handed a pristine white ring to Alex.
Alex felt his entire body shudder as he accepted the ring, sensing the great power stored in the little object. Looking at its appearance, he was amazed by the craftsmanship, not needing to use even appraisal to know it was an item of higher quality than a mere legendary.
The ring was crafted from gleaming silver metal with a thin band, with ever-changing patterns reminiscent of cyclones and gusts of wind swirling on it.
At its center rested a mesmerizing gemstone, shimmering with iridescent hues of white, green, and black, reminiscent of the sky, sea, and the unknown.
"We will meet again, that is if you are still alive," She stated before cracks began to envelop her body.
Alex was confused seeing cracks envelop her body like it was made of glass but before he could reach a conclusion, as if waiting for the moment, a sudden pressure came crashing down on him, sending him zooming toward the ground face- first.
"What a little anomaly, she has grown stronger again," A deep, manly voice sounded amidst the sound of shattered glass hitting the ground.
"She is nothing but a bastard child who should have been killed the day she was brought into our world," Another voice said, high-pitched and hoarse, like one worn from years of shouting.
'I don't demand to guess their identities,' Alex thought, grasping that the two men badmouthing the nameless female were most likely the two clan elders.
Alex realized that these two must have been keeping watch over him for a long time, knowing that the nameless lady would surely approach him, all in the hope of obtaining the means in his possession.
Alex was a bit surprised by her ability, but having seen the ability twice, he quickly figured that it was something similar to a glass or mirror clone, and if he had to guess, he believed it to be the latter because of their ability to copy his technique.
The nameless lady knew the two elders were watching, and she conveyed him the ring, knowing it was useless unless she got captured or died. With her means to roam freely without fear, it was clear that the former was not an option for the two elders.
Alex did not know if the nameless lady was trying to test his means of defense or if she could care less even if he died and lost the ring, because to use it, the two elders would demand to capture or kill her.
In any case, while Alex felt a bit annoyed at being dragged into someone else's revenge, he also felt a sense of satisfaction knowing he had obtained what he wanted.
To access the ancestral realm, Alex was willing to wage war with the elves to acquire it, and now he had an unexpected ally to do the dirty work.
"HUHHH?"
"Where did the ring go?" The first man spoke, his voice laced with clear panic as he quickly grabbed Alex's hand and forced it open, only to be shocked by the ring's absence.
"Kavoc, It wasn't one of her replicas. I clearly sensed the energy," The man roared, his eyes darting across the ground, even though his trained senses should be able to sense even the movement of ants a few miles away.
Alex looked at the two elves, both standing a head taller than him. One had a blocky chin and a scar running across his face, making him look quite ugly for an elf.
The other emerged handsome with black eyes and raven-dark hair, but his disturbingly high-pitched voice did not match his appearance.
"Boy, Where is the damm Ring," Kavoc roared in his high-
pitched voice as he caught Alex by his neck with his elemental pressure and killing intent crushing him and the surrounding land.
"I pondered you two clowns were fighting for the position of Patriarch," Alex stated through clenched teeth, blood leaking from his mouth, his face painted red from his injuries.
"Tell me where did the ring go, before I begin to skin you alive," the scarred man said, before he punched Alex in the face, sending blood and spit flying.
"I hope the two of you don't perish at her hands, because I would love to plunge a sword through your ugly faces," Alex said, a bloody grin spreading across his face before his surroundings began to blur.
The duo reacted swiftly, summoning veils of shadows and green gusts of wind as they used their elemental dominance to freeze the surrounding space and prevent Alex from teleporting.
However, by the time they realized their efforts would not stop him from leaving, it was already too late, and before their stunned eyes, Alex was gone.
