Modern World Warlock-Chapter 312: Forbidden Art
After Megan and Irina interrupted Radeon before he could execute Lindsey, the trio reunited at the rooftop and faced the skeleton without fear.
Irina seemed to be the one who had taken the most damage as she was still bleeding from her head after being flung through a building. Nevertheless, the vampire stood tall next to her companions.
"I see. I underestimate the leader of the Jade Dragons…" Radeon commented.
"Do you know me, bones?" Megan asked, giving Radeon a new nickname.
"I'm only familiar with your looks. It's only natural to gather intel of your enemies…" Radeon replied.
"I heard you were able to defend yourself against Vesnia. I thought it was a fluke, but I see now I was mistaken…" Radeon continued.
Megan thought that the skeleton's speech was somewhat polite, which reminded him of Dante when she first met him and deduced that the netherlord had gone through a similar experience in his past world when dealing with nobles.
Still, the brunette wasn't interested in Radeon. She had her mind focused on someone else.
"Speaking of Vesnia, where is she?" Megan asked her opponent.
"Hmm, who knows? If I were able to detect a Shadow-Blade assassin, then they wouldn't be as impressive…" Radeon replied, and his answer made sense to Megan.
"Got it. Let's end this and keep moving," Megan muttered, prompting her team to take a firmer stance. frёewebnoѵēl.com
Knowing that Megan couldn't fly like her companions, Radeon pointed at the floor, and a crack appeared on it. The crack quickly grew and made the building rumble before collapsing.
Right as the rooftop caved in, Megan crouched and jumped on the falling debris to keep herself from plummeting down. Meanwhile, Lindsey and Irina advanced toward the netherlord.
The blonde generated a fire lash in her hand and waved it down while Irina released another wave of blood slices, both of which were dispelled mere centimeters before Radeon, who seemed to be shrouded by an almost invisible forcefield.
"Fear!" Radeon shouted.
That moment lasted a second but felt like a whole minute to Lindsey and Irina, who were overwhelmed by an intense sense of fear that prompted them to retreat quickly.
There weren't any other spells directed at them, but the "fear" spell was enough to make them believe they were going to die if they got an inch closer to the skeleton.
Relishing the opportunity with both the elementalist and the vampire frozen in fear, Radeon raised his arm and prepared himself to cast another spell when he got interrupted by a dagger that came flying from the collapsing building, hitting his bony hand and flinging it upwards.
The interruption seemed to break the fear spell from Irina and Lindsey, regaining their composure and seeing Megan climbing up to the remaining part of the rooftop that was still standing but wobbling.
When Megan lowered her arm and opened her palm, the dagger stopped in mid-air and returned to her hand, giving it a spin around her finger and clenching it tightly.
Radeon realized that his encounter would be much more difficult than expected, lowering his arms to the side and looking down at the floor.
Anyone else would've believed that Radeon was surrendering or that he had lost his will to fight. However, the aura flowing from the skeleton was at least twice the size as before, so the women stood on high-alert.
"I thought I would use this against Hellslayer, but I see I have no choice," Radeon commented.
"Forbidden Art: Metamorphose," Radeon muttered.
The dark aura around the skeleton got much bigger and more intense, making the already destroyed structure crumble even more, prompting the trio to get off the rooftop.
As the shadows encased all of Radeon's body, the women landed on another rooftop and looked up at the levitating dark orb that kept the skeleton safe inside.
When the shadow orb began to break apart like an egg, it shattered and expelled a strong gust of wind, allowing Megan and her team to detail their opponent's new form.
Initially, Radeon had the appearance of any normal skeleton, although he was slightly taller than the average human.
While his bones were quite strong, he still looked somewhat fragile to the women. However, all of his weak features seem to be gone.
The robe that was covering him was nowhere to be seen, and Radeon's bones seemed to expand like fibers and muscles.
His head, which used to look like a common skeleton, now had a crown of bones at the top, and his eye sockets glowed with an eerie red light.
Megan and her companions were able to see through the gap between Radeon's bones. However, with his new transformation, it seemed as if his bones had turned into muscle, making him look much stronger than before.
Right in the center of his chest, the group noticed that there was a faint red light coming from it, and Lindsey remembered how the skeleton had protected his chest with apprehension a few minutes prior.
'Could it be that's his weak spot?' Lindsey pondered.
Still, even if it were, the bones protecting the red light were thicker and more robust than before, so she started thinking of a way to break through his defense.
Without saying a word, Radeon turned his head toward the three women atop the rooftop and waved his arm horizontally.
In the blink of an eye, Megan widened her eyes and grabbed her two companions by the collar before jumping backward off the building.
For a brief moment, Irina and Lindsey were confused as they couldn't sense anything, and as they fell down, the entire rooftop where they were standing seconds ago was blasted away.
Lindsey used wind magic to slow down their fall and safely land on the ground. Nonetheless, they hadn't escaped from the danger.
"How did you-" Lindsey spoke up but was cut short after Megan pushed her away.
Not even a second later, a giant bone spear traveled between Megan and Lindsey, leaving the blonde with her eyes widened in shock, as she almost died without even noticing.
