As Megan, Lindsey, and Irina returned to the southern NSS checkpoint, Megan heard Trinity on her earpiece saying that Camille had also arrived at the scene. However, she landed at the northern checkpoint.

Even though the signal was weak and had a lot of static, Dante's trick of covering her ear with umbra allowed her to understand the message.

Megan believed that Trinity was giving her good news, unbeknownst to them that the northern checkpoint had already been corrupted by Netherius, though the corruption was different from the necropolis.

Back at the checkpoint with Camille and her group, the harpion twins sat on a small table on the side, eating cookies from a plate that an agent brought for them.

Meanwhile, Camille was discussing the movements of the military with Ronald and a few other agents, taking a sip of water that was brought to her and pointing at different spots on the virtual map.

Suddenly, they were interrupted by Saris, the banshee, who entered the checkpoint's office and yawned with boredom.

"Oh, Saris. How was the nap?" Camille asked.

Saris slept through the entire helicopter ride from the mansion to the checkpoint, and she woke up almost half an hour after landing, so the banshee was still groggy.

When Saris approached Camille with curiosity to see what they were talking about, Ronald shot a glance at one of the agents in the room, prompting them to go out and look for snacks and water.

However, when the agent returned and offered them to Saris, the banshee declined the snack and said that she wanted to keep sleeping, which seemed to annoy the random agent.

"Don't mind her. Anyways…" Camille continued, focusing her attention back on the map.

A few minutes later, the handler began to feel dizzy, but she was aware that it wasn't natural. 'Did they spike my drink?' Camille pondered. Still, she didn't have time to figure it out as she fell unconscious.

Ronald maintained a serious expression. He didn't look satisfied with his actions, but he also didn't look afraid.

"Sorry, friend. We can't afford to lose all these people…" Ronald muttered to the unconscious Camille, switching his gaze to the children.

Asher and Amara had eaten the laced snacks that had sleeping pills crushed into them, and the two kids were peacefully sleeping on the couch without a care in the world.

After ingesting that much, Ronald was sure that neither Camille nor the children would wake up any time soon. Nonetheless, Saris was also napping on the other side of the room, and she had avoided eating or drinking anything since her arrival.

Remembering the events that happened at the northern checkpoint half an hour before Camille's arrival, Ronald gritted his teeth with anger and frustration.

The NSS agents were waiting for the handler's arrival, which was supposed to be a secret. However, when the entire area suddenly turned darker, the necromancer, Netherius, manifested himself at the checkpoint.

The pressure and unease that the necromancer produced from his being was enough to make all of the agents halt their moves in utter fear. They couldn't even aim their gun to shoot at the intruder.

As a high-ranking official for the NSS, who dealt with numerous international secrets, this was still the most impressive and scary event that Ronald had ever witnessed in his life.

Netherius didn't have any weapons or any kind of technological advantage in his body—It was raw power and strength.

The necromancer had a simple task for the agents. "Bring me the silver-haired beauty, Camille Winter, and I will spare you all from death…"

Ronald was a man of integrity, but even a man like him broke down at the sight of immeasurable power before him. He would have liked to negotiate the safety of more people, but Netherius' imposing aura barely allowed him to breathe.

Back in the present, Ronald was brought out of his thoughts by one of the agents, who thought it wouldn't be a problem if only Saris hadn't taken the sleeping pills.

In the eyes of the NSS agents, Saris was just a young woman who was part of Camille's team since the handler had obviously kept her identity a secret—same with Asher and Amara, who looked like normal children to the agents.

"If that woman wakes up, we could just easily knock her out…" Another agent commented, urging them to move the handler to the meeting spot they arranged with the necromancer.

When two agents approached the unconscious Camille to lift her and carry her out of the office, they heard the twins rustling on the couch behind them.

*Yawn* "Hmm, good morning…" Amara said, squinting and rubbing her eyes, forgetting it was almost evening.

"Cookies made me sleepy…" Asher replied, also rubbing his eyes and turning his gaze to see the agents around Camille.

"Haha, see? Even Cami fell asleep!" The boy continued, wholly unaware of the situation at hand.

The agents and Ronald shared silent gazes with each other. They were confused that the twins woke up after eating a substantial amount of sleeping pills laced in their snacks, but they couldn't keep wasting time.

Putting them to sleep was the NSS' way of preventing the children from crying whenever they took Camille away. Still, now that they had woken up, they thought they would have to rely on more direct methods.

"Sorry, kids…" An agent muttered, pulling out a pistol from his back pocket.

A second agent followed along and took out their own gun, which was loaded with needles doused in a chemical that resembled the ones on the sleeping pills.

The sting would hurt the kids a little, but the agents were sure that the projectile wasn't fatal, as it just put their targets to sleep for a few hours.

Nevertheless, Asher and Amara were utterly unbothered by the pistols aimed at them, dropping their heads laterally in confusion.

When the agents pulled the trigger, the twins let out an eerie smile that scared them for a second, only to see the two kids had caught the needle projectile in mid-air before it could hit them.

"Hmmm? Are we playing a game?" Amara wondered, inspecting the needle in her hand.

Since the agents weren't shooting at the kids with genuine intentions to kill them, the harpion twins couldn't discern any hostility towards them, so they believed that the agents wanted to play with them.

However, they were all shocked and scared after they caught the projectiles without effort, prompting Ronald to look at the unconscious Camille on the table.

'I can see why she brought these two brats with her…' Ronald thought, wondering how to continue his plan without attracting the kids' bloodlust.
