Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 210: A Man’s Sincerity (III)
Kael’s heart began to ache seeing Sisi’s tears. He never wanted to make her cry, and never wanted to make her feel burdened.
But if he didn’t do this, then Kael could only watch in silence as Sisi was taken away by the faeries. He would absolutely regret not doing anything while the woman he had ever fallen in love with was gone right in front of his eyes.
"Because I don’t want to regret my choice, Sisi," Kael said as he slowly reached for her face and wiped her tears. "I am a man, and I have fallen in love with you. It is only right for me to show my seriousness."
"But this is so cruel, Kael," Sisi muttered. No matter how many times Kael wiped her tears, they were like a broken dam that refused to stop flowing.
Sisi’s heart was filled with grief. She had been holding her tears whenever she thought of being separated from Jojo and Kael.
At first, she didn’t want to cry because she wanted to show that every decision she made was within her expectations, and there was nothing they could do to change her mind.
But seeing how Kael was so serious and even wanted to put a ring on her finger, she finally broke down. Because she truly wished that she could have more time here, raising Jojo and perhaps spending more time with Kael as they co-parented and co-ruled the kingdom.
The ring basically broke the wall in her heart, because she realized that she might actually like Kael despite all the flaws and obstacles they had along the way.
It was a natural attraction that was hard to deny, and all Sisi did was ignore it and pretend that she was nonchalant in front of Kael. So when they were finally separated, there wouldn’t be any lingering feelings between them.
But why did he have to do this to her? Why give her a ring now when she couldn’t fulfill her promise to stay?!
"Kael, this is so cruel," Sisi said in between her sobs. "What am I supposed to do with that ring when you know that I’ll have to leave eventually?!"
...
Kael slowly reached for her hand again and said, "Then let me put this ring on your finger. That’s all I want to do tonight, Sisi."
Sisi finally gave in to his persuasion, because it was very rare for Kael to be so gentle.
Her tears continued falling, and one of them fell onto the ring right when Kael put the ring onto her finger.
Then, Kael slowly lifted her hand and kissed the tip of her fingers with a tenderness that he had never shown to anyone before.
"Thank you for accepting my ring, Sisi. Now I feel at ease, because no matter how far you are, I will always find you, because this flower ring has a specific scent that only I can pick up," Kael said sincerely. "When I said that I am serious about you—about us, I really mean it. Even if you’re hidden underneath a mountain, I’ll dig my way through just to find you again and again until we can reunite."
And Sisi was moved.
At that moment, she knew that Kael had obtained her heart, because no man had ever been so sincere to her.
They had all seen her as a piece of delicious meat to be taken to bed. But they never saw her as more than that, which was understandable since she was nothing but an orphan girl without backing or a proper family.
But Kael wanted her to be a part of his family, to share this kingdom together and to be parents to Jojo, their son.
Sisi knew that she shouldn’t act on her emotions, because the faerie elders would arrive by tomorrow morning, and by that time, she’d have to devote all of her time to trying to cure Jojo’s blindness and then leave quietly once he was cured.
’But it’s okay just for one night, right? It’s okay not to hold back this feeling. It’s okay to tell him how he has obtained my heart,’ Sisi told herself as a way of self-encouragement as she finally let go of her rationale for a moment and jumped into Kael’s embrace.
Kael caught her as he sat on the floor, hugging her tighter and deeper as he knew that it was very rare for them to have this kind of moment.
"Sisi, I love you," Kael muttered with a voice full of longing and love, something that he never knew he was capable of.
But here he was, hugging her as if she was his lifeline.
"Thank you for loving me, Kael..."
That was all she could say right now. Because all she wanted was to indulge in this fantasy of loving him just for a moment, but if she said that she loved him too, then it would become a burden in his heart as he would never let go.
As she lifted her head, she saw Kael staring at her lips. She smiled at him and tilted her head slightly. "Why don’t you take my first kiss, Kael? I hope my lips will be to your liking, because I—mmh!"
Sisi was caught off guard when Kael suddenly kissed her deeply. His kiss was full of passion and a bit rough, showing that he was just as inexperienced as she was.
But Sisi enjoyed it, because she was kissing the man that she loved and the man who loved her back.
She closed her eyes and silently prayed in her heart:
’Moon Goddess, please give Kael joy in his life. I may not be able to stay by his side, but please give him a woman who could accompany him and be a good mother for Jojo.’
Sisi’s heart was aching when she made that prayer, because she truly wished that she was the woman in that prayer. However, if she had to leave, then she hoped someone else could love this pair of father and son as much as she did.
