Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 220: Departure (II)
Kael had to admit that he was stunned seeing how Sisi ran toward him with many faeries flying on her left and right.
She looked like a goddess who was accompanied by her little friends, and his heart began to beat irregularly again.
"Sisi!" Jojo happily called Sisi’s name once he heard her voice. His ears twitched, trying to find the direction where Sisi came from, and then turned his head toward that direction. "Sisi, are you done talking with the faeries?"
"Yes," Sisi stood right in front of Kael and Jojo, then continued, "And I’ve decided that we will travel to the south, to reach the faerie land."
Kael snapped out of his daze when Sisi mentioned "faerie land." He became self-conscious thinking that Sisi wanted to leave, and asked, "We? So, we are invited to the faerie land?"
Sisi glanced at the oblivious Jojo, and then tiptoed to whisper in Kael’s ear, "The two of you cannot enter the area around the faerie land, but you can camp near it. The faerie elders told me there is a spring inside the faerie land that has a miraculous healing effect. But only I can retrieve it, so I’ll have to go back to the faerie land."
"But don’t worry, once I get the water, I’ll go back to you two immediately."
Kael was not assured by that. He had a feeling that everything wouldn’t be so simple. But Sisi was so excited to finally have a breakthrough, which also put a smile on Kael’s lips.
He had seen Sisi struggling to keep her smile in front of their blind son. Though Kael had repeatedly assured her that Jojo would restore his vision in maybe five to seven years, Sisi was still not settled.
For now, Kael simply wanted Sisi and Jojo to be happy. He was not really someone who thought far into the future—that was Vestor’s job.
If curing Jojo’s blindness would make her happy, then so be it.
As for the consequence... he’d think of a way out later.
"Alright, we can set out now or tomorrow if you want," Kael said.
"Daddy, are we going somewhere?"
"We are going to the south, Jojo. Don’t you miss the warm climate there?" Sisi replied before Kael could say "faerie land," because Jojo would be sorely disappointed once he realized that he couldn’t enter and play with the faeries.
"Oh! I want to go! I miss living in many caves with you and Uncle Marik, Sisi!" Jojo said carelessly, and then closed his mouth once he realized that he shouldn’t mention Uncle Marik in front of his Daddy.
The gentle smile on Kael’s lips vanished in an instant. He wasn’t pleased that his son still remembered that bastard, but then again, getting mad over a man who had run away with his tail between his legs was just stupid.
That bastard tiger had probably forgotten about Sisi and Jojo, since Kael knew how fickle a male tiger was.
So he decided to shift the topic instead. "Should we bring soldiers to follow us?"
"Don’t. The faeries only gave the two of you exceptions because I’m inseparable from Jojo. Besides, bringing soldiers with you will only slow our journey down," Sisi replied with a whisper, making sure that Jojo wouldn’t listen. "And also... why do we need soldiers when you can just protect us all?"
And that last sentence brought a proud smile back to his lips. Kael was easily won over by Sisi’s compliment, especially when she complimented his strength and prowess instead of his looks.
In the beastmen’s world, strength was more important than anything for a man. To be praised as strong by his mate was the ultimate joy in life for a male beastman.
"Yeah, you’re right. There’s no need for soldiers when I can protect you and Jojo all by myself," Kael said. "It is settled then. We will go tomorrow morning. I’ll tell Vestor to take care of the kingdom while I’m away."
Kael handed Jojo back to Sisi and said, "I’ll start preparing now. Don’t forget to tell Diane if you need anything for our preparation. Don’t worry about carrying the weight. I can even lift General Pell with ease, and he’s the heaviest elephant that I can think of."
"That’s so mean," Sisi giggled. "Now go. You still have a morning court to attend to, right?"
**
With that, Kael went to the throne room to attend the morning court. Vestor and Grishaw were surprised seeing their Beast King, who didn’t come down from the summit; instead, he walked out of the Queen’s courtyard and went straight to the throne room.
Grishaw and Vestor looked at each other and had the same idea in mind. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
’Has he been staying overnight inside the Queen’s courtyard?’
Unfortunately, neither dared to ask, as they simply followed the king into the throne room.
After Kael listened to all the matters he needed to solve, the Beast King finally announced his departure:
"I’ll be going to the south with my mistress and son. All the administrative matters will be handled by Vestor, and the military matters will be handled by Grishaw as the highest general. It should only take about a week at most."
The announcement was abrupt, and everyone felt that it was not a good move, because spring was here, and beastmen were the most active during spring and summer.
"This decision is final," Kael added once he noticed some disgruntled faces in front of him.
Of course, he knew it wasn’t wise to leave the kingdom while they had so much to do. But this was for Jojo, and Sisi’s request was an undeniable order for the Beast King.
Vestor knew that their king was not going to listen to any objections, so he simply planned ahead for what he needed to do while their king was absent.
"My King, how many soldiers do you need to accompany you?" Grishaw offered. "The eagle corps are the best, since we are the fastest and can fly. So we won’t be a bother to you while we can scout the surroundings."
