Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 232: A Bloody Skirmish (II)
"Foolish humans," General Pell said as he raised his giant mace onto his shoulder. He looked down at the human soldiers who charged at him, and then at the bullets they shot through their bayonets that barely made a dent in his skin.
"Do you think that your toy guns can—" General Pell raised his giant mace with two hands until the tip covered the sun behind him. His eyes glinted with danger as he slammed the mace to the ground with all his strength, "—DEFEAT ME?!"
The moment that mace touched the ground, there was an earth-shattering BOOM that shocked everyone, followed by an earthquake and a fissure from the point where the mace touched the ground to a straight lane that swallowed many soldiers on its way.
"W-what is that—" the human general was too shocked and barely avoided falling into that fissure with at least thirty percent of the soldiers on the battlefield.
He could barely register what had just happened. Sure, he knew that a beastman’s physique was stronger than a human’s on average, but was this even possible?!
On top of that, the elephant didn’t even use any battle armor, yet he was able to tank all of those bullets without bleeding at all.
’Is he the strongest beastman ever to exist?’ the general asked himself out of pure horror.
What he thought wasn’t entirely wrong. Old Pell was the most powerful protector of the elephant beastmen tribe, a peaceful tribe that was constantly hunted by humans for their tusks whenever they shifted into their elephant form.
If he wasn’t strong enough to defend his territory, then all of those elephants would’ve ceased to exist by now.
However, he was not the strongest in the Beast Kingdom. Because the gap between his strength and the Beast King’s was like the difference between earth and sky.
Back when Kael reached the territory of the elephant tribe, Old Pell sensed his strength and challenged him to a duel before submitting. In the end, Old Pell was utterly defeated by the Beast King in five minutes until he was on the brink of death. Had it not been for Kael’s generosity, he wouldn’t be alive by now.
Marik watched from afar and clicked his tongue in awe. "He should be on par with me if we fight."
"Really?" Leah asked. "General Pell is very strong, Boss. I’d be surprised if you can defeat him."
Marik scoffed. "The young panther is also powerful. But he lacks experience. Maybe in ten or twenty more years, he’d be on par with me."
"Oh, Garou?" Leah asked again. "He’s that strong? I thought he was just a stupid horny boy in love with that bitch Sisi."
Marik’s gaze deepened when Leah mentioned Sisi. He didn’t know that Garou was in love with Sisi. But considering his age, it was probably more like a teenage crush upon seeing a gorgeous yet sensible woman for the first time in his life.
Now, Marik regretted not killing that young panther last night. It would be a bother to kill him once he got stronger later on.
Crown Prince Ludwig was utterly astonished seeing the fissure that almost reached his feet. He was thrown off his horse when the loud fissure made the horse panic and throw him off before running away.
"W-what is this? H-how could a beastman become that powerful?!"
He stared at the bottom of the fissure where the dead bodies of many soldiers were stacked together. The fissure had claimed probably more than a hundred soldiers—basically thirty percent of the total soldiers he deployed in this skirmish.
Ludwig’s face went pale as he didn’t know what to do next. He had only planned this as a skirmish to gauge enemy strength, not a full-blown massacre.
Meanwhile, Grishaw was observing his enemy and the damage that Pell caused from the top of the fortress wall. He was more worried about that fissure since covering it with dirt would take a long time, but if it was left like that, some beastmen might trip and fall into it.
’Ah, we’re screwed. I’m going to be punished by our King once he returns,’ Grishaw lamented over his fate. Had he known this would happen, he would have tried his best to refuse his position.
But then again, since the Beast King appointed him to manage the army, it meant that the king had trusted him with this responsibility, and he didn’t want to disappoint him.
"What should we do now, Grishaw?" Jeanne asked.
"What should we do?" Grishaw stared at his enemy for a good while before muttering, "Decimate them."
"Garou, tell Zuri, the Cheetah Mistress, to dispatch her soldiers and attack the rest of the soldiers," Grishaw instructed. "And Jeanne, send your forces not to attack, but to dismantle their weapons. Send the flying squirrels to snatch their weapons. Without those bayonets, they’re left with only their short swords, and humans are notoriously slow when using such weapons, at least compared to us."
"Remember to only leave the crown prince wearing shining white armor alive. If he’s smart enough, he’ll tell his king father not to mess with us anymore."
"Understood, Sir!"
"Got it, Grishaw!"
With Garou and Jeanne leaving him alone, Grishaw let out a deep sigh.
"Please don’t punish me too harshly, My King. I’m just doing my job protecting the kingdom from invasion."
Everyone on Barion Kingdom’s side was disoriented by now. They were too scared to attack, but couldn’t retreat because their prince or the general hadn’t given them any order.
The human general knew it was not possible to win right now. This wasn’t even a skirmish anymore, because they had lost a hundred soldiers in only a matter of minutes.
He was about to give the soldiers a signal to retreat, but then the sky suddenly turned dark. When they all looked up, at least a hundred flying squirrel beastmen flew right above them and dove quickly just to snatch their bayonets.
They were so skillful that they dodged the sharp tips of the bayonets and simply yanked the guns away and threw them into the fissure, effectively dismantling everyone on the battlefield.
