Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 237: Into the Faerie Land (II)
"Since you are our darling, I think it’s only right for you to enter first," General Gugu said. "And see your birthplace and all the faeries that witnessed your birth, darling."
Sisi felt strangely sentimental hearing those words. She had no memory of this place, so she guessed that she was taken away when she was only a newborn. But with how natural it was for her to enter this place, it became clear that she truly meant to be here, with her little friends that she needed to take care of.
Sisi took the first step. She stood in front of the door for a while before pushing it open.
As she walked through the entrance, what she saw was nothing less than a miracle.
Though the entrance was small, the faerie land itself was pretty huge, with many colorful mushroom-shaped houses that were stuck on rocks, tree bark, or even the stone wall, just like real mushrooms.
Meanwhile, the middle of the faerie land was filled with communal spaces. Sisi saw a hospital, a school, even a courtyard to play games.
But the strangest of all was the moment she looked up. Since she was technically inside a cave, she thought that it would be really dark or lit with fire spiders just like in the narrow tunnel.
But no.
Faerie land was shaped like a massive cone with the sky as the ceiling. The more she looked at her surroundings, the more she realized one thing.
"Is faerie land located inside... a crater?"
"Oh! You got that right, darling!" Crush Tutu confirmed. "Faerie land is located inside the massive crater at the top of the biggest mountain in Roc Forest, the Mountain of Beginning!"
"Mountain of Beginning..."
Sisi was impressed, because she often saw the mountain from afar but never had the time to get close to it. The peak of the mountain wasn’t visible from the valley, but she could see it when she stood at the summit where Kael’s den was located.
She didn’t think she walked a long way when she entered the narrow tunnel, but maybe it was the magic coming from the faeries that helped them.
Just like what they said, faeries were very weak and small. So nature gave them one grace after another to protect them from harm.
They were invisible to adults’ eyes, could fly freely, had long lives, and lastly had all these natural and magical defenses just to make sure their home wouldn’t be attacked by anyone.
The moment she walked into the ’city’ part of the faerie land, one of the faeries immediately dropped the jar of honey in her hand and pointed at Sisi.
"D-d-d-d-darling?! Our darling has arrived!"
"Huh? Darling?"
"She’s finally home?!"
"Move! I wanna see her!"
"Darling, darling, look at me!"
"Darling, do you want to eat something?"
"You’re so pretty! Darling, you look like your mother!"
Sisi was overwhelmed by a horde of faeries surrounding her that kept increasing. At some point, she couldn’t even see the sky anymore because the faeries were flying above her, trying to talk to her until her ears were ringing.
General Gugu huffed and screamed at the top of his lungs, "EVERYBODY, BACK OFF!"
His voice was enough to warn the faeries to stop talking and back off. But they were still highly curious about their darling, since they hadn’t seen her ever since she was taken away as a newborn.
"Our darling has to meet Grandma first! Grandma misses her so much! Besides, if all of you keep surrounding her, how can she listen to any of your questions?!" General Gugu chided.
He was the strongest and most authoritative figure in the faerie land, and the faeries naturally obeyed him, be it out of fear or respect.
Sisi let out a relieved sigh as she finally had space to breathe. "Thank you, General. I was getting overwhelmed just now."
"No worries, darling. But please don’t think badly of them. They are just very excited about your arrival," General Gugu said. "You’re lucky that most of the faeries are still working outside, so it’s pretty empty today. Or else, I wouldn’t be able to tell them off."
Sisi looked at the little—wait, they weren’t little anymore, since Sisi was the same size as them now. She looked at the faeries whose eyes were glimmering with admiration while staring at her and couldn’t help but giggle.
"All of you are so cute. Let’s talk again later, alright?"
"Ohhh! Darling called me cute!"
"No, no, she called me cute!"
"Do you think I should wear my cute dress to meet darling again later?"
"Oh, oh! Darling, do you want me to follow you around? I’m also very cute, right?"
General Gugu had to guide the way for Sisi or else she would be stuck in the downtown area of faerie land forever.
He finally stopped right in front of a spiral staircase made out of wood that went down to somewhere unknown. She squinted her eyes but couldn’t see the end of the staircase at all.
"You can find Grandma Tree at the end of this staircase, darling. You should go first, and we will follow you."
The faerie land was full of magical things, because the moment Sisi stepped onto the staircase, it suddenly turned into a slide, and she fell into a spiraling slide at high speed.
"Waaaaaahhh!" Sisi screamed in horror. Rather than sliding, it felt more like falling at this point.
She closed her eyes as she was getting dizzy. She thought there was no way she would reach the end in one piece. She might even break a bone or two!
However, she felt no pain as she landed, because she landed right on a pile of thick leaves which cushioned her fall.
"Darling, are you alright?" Healer Roro asked.
"Ugh, I’m still dizzy," Sisi shook her head a few times. "Whose amazing idea was it to make a crazy slide like that?"
"Uhm... that’s actually your mother’s idea," Healer Roro said. "She liked to prank others, so she designed that staircase which would turn into a slide when someone stepped on it."
