Chapter 63 - Lewis: Broken Hearted once More

It has been around a fortnight since they came back from exploring Mysteful Mansion. Upon seeing the greviously injured group, Durmast immediately called the Guildmaster, Eldruis, a tier-6 Elf Shaman.

Upon hearing their report, his eyes shrunk in fear. Realising what it meant, he called for a meeting at the Guild headquarters, convening an emergency meeting. Meanwhile, the trio were given the highest forms of healing as a form of reparation, seeing they had somehow managed to successfully survive a near-suicidal mission at such low tiers.

They did not stay long, though, for as soon as they were healed, the boot came, and they were kicked out of the Guild. "Don't take missions for the next couple of days, and make sure that stupid nephew of mine does not cause any more fucking 'accidents '!"

With a loud boom, Durmast slammed the door shut, very much in a hurry. He kneels this matter needed to be addressed in earnest. Otherwise, the whole city could be headed towards destruction, with millions of lives being lost.

Looking back, they knew that the situation was dire, but they could do nothing about it. All they were, were an entrepreneur who dreamt of knowing everything in the world, a scientist who wanted leave his legacy...

And a Dwarf who wanted to go to the Moon

Sighing in despair, Duncan looked over the window, where Lewis carried on his experiments alongside a wayward Simon. Donning his goggles, he singlemindedly set upon experimenting with the various metals that were brought to him, trying to determine which would be the best material to build the spaceship...

Haah, I wonder what happened to him in the past to make him like this...

"Alright now Simon, focus on the metal! This sample is the last one we have, and if we fuck it up, we'll be damned!"

Just then, a sudden crack emerged from the metal, before shattering itself into tiny fragments and blasting themselves to the duo's face. Barely dodging being blinded thanks to the goggles, Simon brushed off the fragments before turning to Lewis. "Alright then, this makes our tenth metal ingot. Care to have a break...?"

Lewis stopped. Turning his head slowly, he got level-eyed with Simon. His voice turning cold, he asked him, "Are you sure you wanna go to the Moon? If yes, just follow the damn instructions!"

Shouting at the top of his lungs, Lewis berated the young Dwarf for dawdling here. Scared, Simon backed off, hands in the air, trying to signal Lewis that he was no threat at all.

"Whoa there big man! Why so grumpy?"

A young chirpy voice called out from behind them. Turns out it was Goblina emerging from the bushes, holding a basket of beakers, each filled with liquid of varying colour. Laying his eyes on them, Simon's eyes widened. "Is that–"

"Yup! Managed to separate the Warped Oil into their Manatised versions. Pity the tower is half-baked– Seriously though, what's wrong with him!?"

"Oh him? Yeah, turns out he got infatuated with a Succubus..."

Eyes filled with pity, Goblina tried comforting Lewis. "Yeah well, if it makes you feel any better, most people who encounters Succubi always feel as if they're their fated ones. How else does Succubi get their prey...?"

Rubbing his eyes, Lewis knocked his hands over the young Goblin's head. "Yeah, yeah, don't get to big for your britches. Anyways, I suppose–"

"Hey guys, check out my finished drawings for the Control Center! I've finished the drawings!"

A sudden from Titus interrupted the conversation. Their focus now shifting to the building, Goblina and Simon ran towards Titus, trying to catch a glimpse of their future home.

Seeing the young ones scamper to the older Orc, Lewis heaved a sigh of relief. Clenching his fists, he headed indoors, ignoring Duncan who called for his attention. Realising that the betrayal was too much for Lewis, he let down his hand.

I hope he gets over it soon, for Demons cannot be ever trusted...
