Mountain Sitting Immortal-Chapter 386: Go For A Walk.
Chapter 386: Go For A Walk.
When he came down, Roar was sleeping and basking in the sun. If he didn’t have fur, Arthur would think he was sunbathing. But with fur, Arthur was sure that he was basically absorbing the sun.
Roar’s fur is golden and shiny normally. But when exposed to a lot of sun, his fur shines like metal, specifically like gold. His fur also glows.
The way his fur behaves under sunlight is why Arthur believes that Roar is executing a scheme in which he slowly absorbs the power of the sun until one day he swallows the sun completely and replaces it as the source of light and life for the Ethera world.
Roar’s eyes moved as he picked up the sounds of Arthur’s movements. But he didn’t stand up from his sleeping posture.
Instead he yawned and flipped over, thereby exposing his belly to Arthur. Then one of his eyes stared at Arthur with meaning.
Arthur shook his head at the sight and said, "Look at how lazy you’ve become. You even want belly rubs without asking for them."
He said that, but he still went over to rub Roar’s belly. This caused Roar to become excited. He even kicked his legs many times in excitement.
His excitement peaked when Arthur said, "Come on. It’s time to harvest another secret realm."
Roar’s eyes perked up at the mention of harvest a secret realm. Arthur’s words were similar to Roar being asked to prepare to go for a walk. So Roar hopped onto his feet immediately.
He became happy and excited. His tail began to wag, and he even began to bark in order to signify that he was ready.
His mouth began to drool in anticipation too. He wanted to lick Arthur’s face in appreciation, but Arthur held him back.
Arthur said, "No licking. But if you do well this time, I will look into getting that bloodline to help you break through."
Roar nodded eagerly. But what Arthur did only made him more excited, and he wanted to appreciate Arthur more by licking his face, but Arthur didn’t let him.
Arthur smiled when he saw his reaction. He was smiling because he understood what it meant to transcend the second mortal coil. He was also excited to see the puppy of so many years grow into a mature monster.
Roar has reached the peak of the second mortal coil. He did so three years ago after being fattened by powerful corpses everyday for so many years.
Those corpses were gained from the secret realm. They belonged to the other disciples, so they were human corpses.
The corpses were all at the peak of the second mortal coil. He had accumulated a lot of them after participating in the secret realm four times.
He had more than he could deal with, so he began feeding them to Roar. This saved him money to feed Roar and also shortened the time it would take Roar to reach the peak of the second mortal coil himself.
Unfortunately, Roar’s path will end here as he has run out of potential. He wouldn’t be able to reach the third mortal coil without some miracle. So Arthur decided to give him that miracle.
The miracle being an upgrade of bloodline. It would be expensive to perform, but he could afford it.
Besides, once Roar reaches the third mortal coil and forms a foundation, his bloodline will stop being a hindrance for him. The quality of his foundation will be the main factor that determines what he will be able to achieve in the future.
So rather than buy another beast capable of reaching the third mortal coil to be his pet and discarding Roar, it was more efficient to help Roar advance to the third mortal coil.
Roar was looking forward to it, and so was he. It was just that he was always busy and hadn’t had time to consult the services of the people in the Agriculture Hall.
This is what caused the delay in Roar’s advancement. But now that he is free and will have some time after the harvest of the secret realm, he thought that he should give it a try.
He said to Roar, "If we don’t go now, we will be late to get you that bloodline."
Roar wasn’t going to have that. So he fell to the ground with his chest touching the ground and barked at Arthur to get on.
Arthur chuckled and asked, "What’s the rush?"
He knew what the rush was, of course. So even as he asked that question to tease Roar, he climbed onto his back to sit.
Roar had indeed become so big that even though it was on the ground, its torso was taller than Arthur. Arthur himself was 2.5 meters tall, or 8 feet 2 inches.
Roar now reminds him of the first rank 3 beast that he killed. Just like that angry bull, if Roar were standing, he would have had to jump in order to get onto his back.
But this height also comes with a lot of benefits. The best benefit is an increased stride length. Because of his great size, Roar can run faster and cover more distance quickly.
An example of this was how easy it was for him to scale his gate. It wasn’t a special achievement, to be honest, because it would have been easy for Roar to scale his two-story house too, but Arthur liked it nonetheless.
Arthur liked it because he felt as if he was riding a golden cloud. He especially liked how Roar jumped over both his gate and the people waiting outside his gate for him.
These people were three in number. They were all wearing red robes with the symbols of a bread and book on them.
They had also all dyed their hair red. This made them all look like him when he was a young man who hadn’t joined the sect yet.
They looked like Arthur Red Mane. It wasn’t a coincidence or something that happened by chance. They were intentionally trying to look like him.
