My body was obviously stinky without a doubt, and I would not feel comfortable tonight if I slept without bathing.

I wasn’t surprised because I already knew they were able to do that.

The word, ’second chance mate’ was stuck in my head as I watched Alpha Elektra leave the living room.

Since when did she have a second chance mate? Not only that, I have noticed that something fishy is going on.

That strong dark energy from hours ago didn’t only belong to that hybrid creature. Someone else must be responsible for it.

Is it just my imagination, but why does it seem that Anders is afraid of Alpha Anastasia? I also noticed the way she glared at him threateningly.

I must get to the bottom of this.

’Why are you very troubled, Damien? Your thoughts are overflowing here, and you know absolutely well that I could hear them all’. Darren said to me, and I had to maintain my composure because of Anders, whose hands were resting on his laps as he stole glances at me.

I sighed. ’Darren, I feel that our Alpha is hiding something from us’. I mind linked him.

I went and stood next to the sofa and halted. My hands were positioned behind my back. "Who the heck is this dude? Why does he look familiar? As if I had seen him somewhere before". I said, but couldn’t recall where I had seen him before.

Besides, he didn’t have any scent, so he is a human.

"Then, how come a human is the mate of my Alpha?!". I could not believe or accept this. Alpha Anastasia and Alpha Elektra are both formidable warriors.

I could not accept it if their mate was a human, a mere weakling who ages faster than us werewolves.

I am sure that if both her parents were alive, they would have wanted her to have a strong mate who could protect her.

Although Alpha Dylan is a big time jerk whom I wish to crush, he’s strong.

I was damn serious.

I saw him clench his hands in fright as he stared at the floor.

I was inside the bedroom with my twin brother, Caden.

Although I was currently lying on my bed, I could not fall asleep, as I was not feeling sleepy. Not even a little bit.

Every single word of my mother was stuck in my head and did not want to leave.

It was still a dream for me.

Caden and I could never see our father ever again.

And the worst part of it all was the way my mother betrayed her own sister.

I can’t even imagine that. No matter how much I have wrapped the matter around my neck, I simply couldn’t imagine it.

It was, and it is, so cruel of my mother to do that to her own twin sister.

I breathed deeply and stared at the ceiling. My head was filled with too many thoughts.

’Quickly sleep, Chase. You are not the kind of person who thinks. That’s very unusual of you’. My wolf, Vachan, who was the opposite version of me, said to me. But his words only made me sigh.

"I understand you are worried about me, Vachan. But I can’t fall asleep. I am troubled. I feel guilty about what our mother did. I feel like meeting my half-sister and apologizing to her on behalf of mom". I told him.

’That isn’t a wise decision, Chase. Caden was right. How do you expect our half-sister to accept the news if we suddenly appeared in front of her and told her that her father was our father too? She might feel her position as the shadows’ pack Alpha is at a risk of being taken away by us’.

Upon listening to what Vachan said, I burst out laughing.

Before he could ask me what was funny, I said to him, "Do you hear yourself speak, Vachan? And I thought you were the smart one. Haven’t you heard that our half-sister is no longer the foolish young lady she used to be? Haven’t you heard that she’s the chosen child of the moon goddess and that she has awakened powers and can single-handedly destroy all those bastard creatures if she grew more powerful? "Yes, Vachan, that’s truly crazy. Our once-useless sister has become probably the strongest werewolf in the entire world". I admitted.

’Useless is a harsh word, Chase’. Vachan told me and I had to agree with him on that one.

The sound of footsteps made me look at Caden’s bedside.

I flinched because the instant I turned to Caden’s bedside, I saw him squatting next to my bed.

"Hey. You scared me!". I scolded him, before I sat up on the bed and placed a hand on my chest.

His elbows were resting on the edge of my bed, and he was staring right into my eyes. "You. Why aren’t you asleep?".

"I should be asking you the same question, Caden. Aren’t you supposed to be asleep? What made you wake up?". I asked him.

Caden rose up to his feet.

He sighed like a lazy old man with his hands positioned on his back. He usually stayed in that kind of position. "I never fell asleep. Your voice was too loud, so I decided to stop pretending". He replied to me.

"So you heard everything I said? I can’t believe you were eavesdropping on me". I frowned as I said. I added, "I thought you were the responsible brother".

"Of course I am, Chase. But you can’t blame me. Your voice was too loud for me not to hear it". He calmly said, making me get out of bed.

I stood in front of him, and pointing a finger at him, I had almost said something when he suddenly announced, "You are not right, but, I think we should pay our elder sister a visit".

The instant I heard what Caden said, I blinked twice in a row and stood there frozen, as my finger pointing at his face slowly descended.

"Are you really serious about this, Caden?".

"Yes, Chase. But we must not let our mother know about this. We should keep it a secret from her". He held my shoulders as he said.

In an instant, I demonstrated sealing my lips tightly, by using my index finger and my thumb together to seal my lips.
