Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 483: Why Did You Come With Us?
"You have five minutes." Chantelle turned around and went back into the room.
When she came out again with Shiela, the hallway was completely empty. Shiela’s mood was stable as long as she didn’t see any strangers.
After they went downstairs, Calvin was already waiting in the parking lot with a car. When she got in, she saw that Alexander was there too.
Seeing Shiela’s comfortable reaction, she didn’t bother questioning his presence.
After returning to Western Hill Villa and settling Shiela down, Chantelle asked Alexander, "Why did you come with us?"
With the way Daniel treated Alexander just now, there was no way he would let him get a chance to approach her alone.
"Ms. Parker needs someone to take care of her injuries, and Caleb is not with you," he explained.
Caleb had received a call from Ciara a few days ago and rushed to Carcosa to treat her. So there was no private doctor with them for the time being.
Daniel must have thought of this before allowing Alexander to come along.
"Why did you oppose Mr. Wilson?" Chantelle felt Alexander’s attitude toward Daniel was strange today. It wasn’t their first time meeting, and she had never seen him target Daniel like this before.
"If Grandpa wants you as his god-granddaughter, then I’m your brother. I should protect you," Alexander said as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Chantelle frowned. "Have you guys always been this kind?"
Alexander didn’t smile. "We are only kind to our own people."
"I heard Camille disappeared. You guys aren’t worried at all?" Chantelle asked.
Camille Nelsen had been missing for two days. She hadn’t even made it into the headlines, and Alexander, a member of the Nelsen family, didn’t seem concerned. Wasn’t Camille supposed to be the precious daughter of the Nelsen family?
"Rowan and Oscar both went to look for her. They sent me a message saying they found her. She didn’t want to come back yet, so they are staying with her for a few days."
Alexander told the truth. That day, Rowan got a call saying something had happened to Camille. The Nelsen brothers were supposed to go together to find her. But on the way, Alexander received a call from Philip about an important discovery in the virus research.
Rowan told him to return to the laboratory first. They had bodyguards with them anyway. His presence wouldn’t make much difference.
That night, Alexander received a message from Rowan. He said they had found Camille. She wasn’t in any danger. She was just making a scene, refusing to go home, and insisted they stay with her for a few days.
As for the location, Alexander didn’t ask much. He trusted his brother completely. Rowan could handle everything.
Alexander’s heart jolted the moment he saw Chantelle’s expression. He quickly pulled out his phone to call Rowan, but it was turned off.
He tried calling Oscar, too, and his phone was also off.
Chantelle saw Alexander’s pale face and reminded him, "Go back to the Nelsen residence immediately. Gather some people to look into your two brothers’ whereabouts. Don’t let Old Mr. Nelsen know. He won’t be able to handle it."
He nodded, then hesitated and looked back at her.
"Don’t worry, I’ll be fine here. I’ll help track them down."
Alexander nodded and left Western Hill Villa in a panic.
Chantelle had brought up Camille on purpose because she heard Shiela mention her name while she was sleeping earlier.
Two people who had never crossed paths suddenly being connected, did not feel like a coincidence. She had a feeling this whole situation had something to do with Camille.
"Mommy, the girl is awake," Stephanie said as she came out with a glass of water.
To lower Shiela’s guard, Chantelle let her three children stay with her. She hoped Shiela would return to normal soon and be able to give them more useful information.
For now, as long as they found out where she was being held, they would have a chance to save Camille, Rowan, and Oscar.
When Chantelle entered Shiela’s room, Shiela threw off the blanket and rushed over to grab it. With bloodshot eyes, she begged, "Ms. Bently, please tell someone to save Camille. Go save her, she’s dying! If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t have escaped!"
"Speak slowly, Shiela. Do you remember where it was?" Chantelle asked.
Shiela nodded. "It’s underground, like the graveyard in the TV."
An ancient tomb?
"You said Camille was the one who helped you escape?"
"Yes. She bit off a man’s ear. He was their leader. He got furious and dragged her away. Before that, she threw me a key, and I used it to unlock the handcuffs and the fetters." Shiela trembled as she talked about what happened.
Chantelle urged her, "What else do you remember? Tell me everything you can."
"I don’t remember much. They wouldn’t let me sleep, and they kept banging a gong next to my ears. They also injected me with some kind of drug, so I can’t remember everything clearly."
"How did they catch you?" Chantelle frowned and continued asking.
She no longer had time to wait for Shiela to fully regain her senses.
"That day, Mr. Jude asked me to buy coffee. I was walking on the street when someone suddenly dragged me into a car."
"Which store was it?" Chantelle asked.
"Starbucks downstairs."
"What kind of people did you see after you were captured? Did you recognize anyone?" Chantelle noticed Shiela sinking back into her memories and quickly asked more questions.
Shiela clawed at her messy hair several times, forcing herself to remember what had happened. Painful memories surfaced, and she broke down again.
Seeing that she could not get anything more from her, Chantelle gave her a sedative so she would not hurt herself.
After that, Chantelle called Jacob and asked him to retrieve all the surveillance footage along the road from the Wilson Group of Companies to Starbucks. Unfortunately, the license plate of the car that kidnapped Shiela was fake. There was no way to trace the owner.
However, Jacob discovered a reflection in a mirror that showed the driver’s face. He used advanced technology to sharpen the blurry image.
After ending the call with Jacob, Chantelle contacted Daniel. She told him everything Shiela had said and shared the clue they had found about the possible location.
"They were pretending to be me. They wanted to destroy the relationship between the Nelsen family and the Wilson family so they could benefit from it."
